    Hi! You have great information on your channel! So if you registered a sole proprietorship, haven't yet applied for an EIN for it, then later create a LLC with a pretty similar name-- can you operate both businesses under the EIN you ultimately obtain under the LLC? I hope that's clear enough.

    Hi Aiden, i have a question that i really need an answer to. I'm in the very beginning stages of building my company and want know if its possible for your LLC to have say a painters license without you actually having to go through the process of obtaining one. for example, if i had a member obtain one through the LLC or if i partnered with a licensed painter making him a member. would that automatically qualify my business as "licensed?" is there a better strategy?

    Hi Aiden, First I want to say thanks for always providing such great and detailed content, it's always appreciated. Secondly, I have a question for you which may be a bit of a dumb question but I just want to make sure I'm thinking in the right direction and understanding clearly. I'm planning on creating a record label, and I also want to have a publishing company within that label, so would I need to create 2 different LLCs ( one for the label and the other for publishing) or should I have a different trade name for my publishing company within the LLC? I hope I'm asking that question the right way, haha. Anyway, I look forward to your reply and thanks for any information you are able and willing to give :).

    This video helped me the most so far. I have 3 entirely different businesses (Lawncare, Commercial Cleaning, and Security Systems) and might even start a 4th (Graphic Design). My lawncare business has been successful, and the others I've just started. Of course, lawncare has some liability, but commercial cleaning is probably a bit greater, and security systems is even greater still! I'm currently operating as a sole proprietor and have for several years. But, after watching your video's, I think one LLC, at the least, would be wise. Now, after watching this particular video, having multiple LLC's seems to be even more wise. Thanks for the free help, Aiden! If you lived in South Dakota, I'd probably be giving you a call for more help (as I'd rather have someone else handle this sort of stuff for me while I go out and bring home the bacon). At any rate, I subscribed to your channel, so, I hope that offers some level of reciprocity for you at least! And, I'd be happy to design a logo for you if you don't already have one, or aren't satisfied with it! No charge! I do it for fun! Just let me know! Thanks again for your time and effort! God bless!

    As a foot note, I make my own logos. I named my business AL MOWIT (the logo is my pic) . I did so for a few of reasons: 1) It'd put me at the front of the yellow pages. 2) I figured if I made anyone angry, they would just go looking for some guy named Al, who doesn't exist. 3) My slogan is, "If You Can't Mow It, AL MOWIT!" #1 I still have yet to even be in the yellow pages. #2 is the only liability coverage I have lol #3 Considering your style of humor, I hope it made you smile :)

    I'm not an attorney but I did what you're asking by 1. Opening an LLC 2.Went downtown courthouse where you open DBA and close it then reopen under LLC 3. If you have EIN for the DBA. Open a new one from the IRS. And request to close your old one (closing it was done by writing a letter explaining to the IRS to close EIN. Google it). 4. If you have a bank, after you have the LLC's Certificate of Formation, and EIN, go them and tell them you want to add your LLC while keeping your original DBA name. Also, you must have them update your new EIN. Good luck.

  • @allupinyobiz

    @allupinyobiz

    The DBA is not a separate entity from the LLC so it's only the LLC that is taxed. I can't say for sure that the same applies to the CA franchise tax. You'll need to double check with an attorney who is licensed in CA, but I'm pretty sure it would still be the LLC that pays the franchise tax since the DBA is not its own entity.
