Very lucky there wasn't too much damage or problems in my area

Crazy weather, I never noticed panels for balcony door before.

I didn't know either until I started living in Japan, it's mostly in newer and modern homes/buildings.

Good excuse to eat snacks and instant ramen for a couple days

Japanese homes have multiple layers of protection it seems against bad weather. Two doors plus a panel door.

I think it depends when the home/building was built. Newer and modern places have the panels.

At least beer was available!
