That's a pretty good quick summary. Really, the two states are very similar. The climate, the topography, the culture, the cost of living. Their populations are about the same but Maine has much more land area so it is much more rural once you get past Portland (awesome city) especially. Once you get north of Bangor, there's practically nothing but forest as far as the eyes can see in every direction. It's rugged country, for sure. NH does have a lower overall tax burden but utilities are very expensive. Portsmouth, NH has an incredibly strong economy for such a small city but it's very expensive too. Housing in NH is impossible to find nowadays. Overall, I'd say it's a wash; maybe a slight edge to Maine.

Maine seems to win the nature battle but Nh is closer to Boston (but maine isn’t that far either) But Greenville SC is also on my list because there are beaches and Mountains near the city (albeit way farther than maine and Nh)

Maine tax law has a provision that if you purchase goods in New Hampshire, you are required to report them to Maine Revenue and pay sales tax on those goods and services. It's on the Maine income tax form. When LePage was governor, Maine Revenue sent letters and forms to all residents for them to "own up", report their purchases and pay the tax. Honestly, I wouldn't be broadcasting that you shop in New Hampshire to avoid the sales tax because if someone from Maine Revenue happens to catch your video, they would likely send you a nice letter telling you to pay up.

Both states are truly beautiful places... in Summer... I don't think there is much pressure for folks to move to the Northeast... everyone is going South. Maine and New Hampshire are visit once in you life time type places much like the Grand Canyon... if you look at the numbers. That said... thanks for the info and I see a few videos of "don't come here" I don't think they should worry... Maine is never going to be Florida unless Global warming suddenly goes crazy :) That said I like it that states like Maine exist... it is kind of unspoiled... and will probably stay that way forever.

I have lived in York county, southern Maine, as well as living in Manchester, NH. People like me moved from the north to this area for the good paying jobs. Definately a plus for this area. Myself personally, I cant stand the horrible traffic in either one of those places. Only 1 major highway in and out of the whole state of Maine goes right through this area. Friday night, everybodys jamming the highway northbound, and Sundays sometimes the tollboth in York southbound was backed up for miles in the summer especially. Boston was only an hour away, but I think I went to visit Boston maybe a couple times for all the 8 years I lived there. I live in central Maine now, back where I came from. The price of houses here are half the cost of what it is anywhere in York or Cumberland county, and NH is even more expensive for houses from what I saw, on top of the higher property taxes. Now the house price increases are starting to hit this area too, there's not much for sale, which is driving the prices up. If you're lucky you might find a house built in 1900 that some old lady passed away and her kids are selling just to sell.. not to flip or make a profit. The cost to build a new one has gone way up, building materials are expensive, and inflation hit that market hard. Cant even barely buy a new single wide trailer for less than $100,000. I remember when they were less than $50k usually, not anymore. And building a stick-built house will cost a small fortune unless your a do-it-all carpenter with lots of free time, and you'll still pay inflated prices for building materials.

Maine wins . I think new Hampshire has view taxes and weird taxes. Go around all taxes and so forth... court system and prison is what look at. Ny state go after you lock you away for life first time. Just fir fun . In cement cell . Lights on yelled at by guards ... evil state of aggressive people. So maine looks like best place . I don't see how could be arrested in maine even. Court defenes could drop most charges... more you do just living generates money and jobs . It pay taxes in other ways. Fuel tax , buying things you helped the state ... looks nice.

Northern Maine is losing population, everyone is poor and on welfare, it is getting worse every year. The only money in Maine are rich Massholes with fancy summer homes. Central Maine is similar to Alabama except there are no Black people and it is really cold. The people are not very bright. Crime is much worse in Maine than New Hampshire. Native maniacs are weird. Maine taxes are significantly higher. New Hampshire Real Estate taxes are about half of what MA, CT, or NY. Most of the property in Maine is pretty worthless so it is not really taxed, since it is losing population in most of the state. There are no jobs in Maine except waiting tables and cleaning toilets in the summer. PS I have lived and worked in both states.
