Thank you for doing the KZread thing. I cant afford stuff right now. But I been watching you guys before you were all in frame together. You helped with my teenage people. I wish (kinda) I had babies when you guys came on. I sadly was of the mind 50% of what my kids & their friends say is a lie. However it took me along time to get it right. Love your work. I am dying to get my brother a financial advisor VP & my hubby mechanical engineer to do body language tactics. I 😭😱 dont have a good reason to do more than KZread since we are empty nester's & our grandbabies live far away. Disabled I try not to interact. I feel like I have a light above me sayin "disabled easy prey." Which is why I walk & train big dogs. Our new one dog is very much a guard dog. Her instincts are spot on. So thanks for helping out us poor folk that really love this stuff but sadly can't financially justify spending money on it. Although Scott I have your book & Mark's in my audio books. Which you would do more of them.
I really want the panel members to play "two truths and a lie" so they have to analyze each other lol

I relate to another commenter who said their interest in body language stems from an abusive childhood. I also suffered abuse as a child and I have become hypervigilant as a result. This has led an an instinct and almost a survival technique of reading body language. It has been a sixth sense if you will. However, watching you guys and others (Peter Hyatt was my first real influence) has shown me WHY I get the feelings I do. To see body language broken down into such minute detail is fascinating and has helped me to better understand what I'm seeing beyond just "a feeling".

I love the Behavior Panel!! I look forward to Wednesdays/Thursdays every week. This is my first time watching Q & A. I have great admiration for all four gents. However, Scott, you really had me at Led Zeppelin!!!!!
I was accused of sexually touching by a female employee of mine, she reported it & everything. That was rears ago & I am still upset about it. I had to come out as gay to all involved, with telling them whom to ask to prove that too. Nothing came of it, but I was angry & still am angry. I felt so trapped at the frustration of trying to prove a negative. I guarantee that if you are falsely accused the average person is going to appear angry, not calm & collected. TgT

I think it's actually the behaviour panel who are the Beatles of the body language world! the fab four! xD
Great comment on Myers Briggs! I am an INTJ, but the best part of discovering the personality typing for me was becoming aware that others operate differently than I do. Until that point I was never able to understand people's behaviors because I only had my own thought patterns as context. Nearly everyone around me was purely nonsensical and human behavior that departed from my baseline was a puzzle without color clues.
@jenniferjohnson6738
2 жыл бұрын
INFJ here with a similar experience. I know it's not perfect but it helps to have a framework to find of go off of for human behavior. It's like body language for behavior to me. Understanding Myers Briggs plus just getting to know someone and being observant helps me come up with a "baseline" and like Greg was saying my mind just naturally categorizes people and behaviors. Some of the body language stuff I already picked up on from living life but understanding why my alarm bells ring about certain things has been so helpful. The INTJs I've met seems to have a somewhat similar way of categorizing people. Its fascinating to me!

@@jenniferjohnson6738 in my case I have always categorized people in what I called "boxes." I get really shaken when someone's behavior shows me I put them in the wrong box, because my boxes are levels of trust largely.

Yess! Similar situation here. Also Autistic (but not diagnosed until adulthood) .... so i've only realized recently that that also really adds into the "always watching for danger or red flags everywhere" mentality. On a funnier note, luckily, the husband realized early on that i was a bit of a "bullshit detector" and thus has rarely lied ... except about small things. Like when he bought a new soccer ball and tried to lie about someone on his team giving it to him. After about 40 minutes of interrogation he finally broke, admitted he overpaid for it and said something like "How do you just KNOW about stuff!?" 😆

Hello, I’m an INFP. INFPs and INFJs are actually quite different, they don’t share any of the same cognitive functions. But we do often manifest similar behaviours both being feeler/intuitive types which is why you may come up as INFP or INFJ in an online test - the tests go on your behaviours only not the reasons for those behaviours - which leads to inaccuracy. Check out Personality Hacker website, podcast and KZread channel, there’s is a lot of info on how to ascertain your type more accurately :)
Love you guys. You speak so fast. I love to absorb everything you share but this would be easier if you slooooow down a little xxx
I have a silly, out of context question. Why does gum chewing bug so many people and thus is considered rude? Who first said it was rude and why? I know I could Google those questions, but in the context of what you observe about people and behaviors, do certain types of people chew gum? And what does it say about them? I'm a gum chewer and I don't like it when people don't like that I chew gum. I think it's rude of them to ask me to not chew it, frankly. It helps me think - and often to not be so bored with what people are saying and how long it takes them to say it. When I'm driving late at night and get sleepy, chewing gum is the absolute best thing to keep me awake. If I'm interacting with someone and get the yawns, chewing gum helps me stop the yawns. I've heard that kinesthetic learners learn best when they are moving their body in some way - as in taking notes they never read. I notice that a couple of you are gum chewers and are apologetic for it - why should gum chewers apologize to non gum chewers? I know, it's silly - but still...

Myers Briggs: I’ve taken it several times for various reasons. I’m two types INFP and ISTJ. So I agree take it with a grain of salt. It definitely is not the end all. I’m 76. Is it possible that it depends on the “Day” that you take the questionnaire?
@AdeebaZamaan
3 жыл бұрын
When I took the Myers Briggs, the woman who administered it assured me that it was just a tool and not infallible. I could tell, because I had to choose between answers and would choose differently another day. When she scored it, it split between ENTP and ENFP, agreeing with my CONSCIOUS equal respect for feeling and thinking. Hi, Greg! BTW, astrology is similarly just a tool to classify people; Alastair Crowley compared it to a filing cabinet. I know I fill the drawers from 74 years of my own experience.

@LogicianTenderstone @LogicianTenderstone Well, of course! I thought that was implicit in the whole discussion (the failure of psych tests to be more than tools, and temporary tools at that!). I jettisoned identity crises forty years ago because every picture of my identity I ever constructed was obsolete by the time I'd put it together. As for your metaphor, my middle name is "What box?" I'm the woman who put two full-sized beds into space for only one by sticking their boxes right THROUGH each other! (Wish I could send you the picture.) Not to mention that if I start feeling stuck--well, I have both endogenous and exogenous ways to hurl my POV against the wall and watch it slide down like jelly! (😆 Rinse and repeat as needed! 😎) If you knew me you'd wonder why you offered me this advice. Possibly my reference to astrology threw you? More probably, you're like the grad student who memorizes the jargon of her new discipline before she understands it, in order to mirror her colleagues and be accepted in their community? MOST probably, you're a bit new to this outlook and are seeking a mentor already comfortable with it to assure you that you're on the right path? You ARE, I promise, but don't undervalue categories (don't overvalue them either), because categories order chaos just long enough to keep the cat from rolling in it and destroying your temporary categories while you grab lunch and a shower before returning to work disassembling your categories and making new ones. Maybe I'm wrong: maybe you believe I require a guru, and you're he? Sorry; that position is already filled, by LIFE. Moreover, post-Post Modernistly, I work constantly to deconstruct my narratives about my life, one of those whose construction is apparently a primary human motivation--according to The Behavior Panel, citing Maslow. I'm aiming beyond narrative, towards poetry. But to get back to you: your oxymoronic nom de noeud suggests to me that you're trying to control how others see you because you think if they see you as unclassifiable you're likelier to become that way? (Beware: deny this outright and you put yourself in a box!) But all mutual preaching aside, I applaud your effort to get ALL of yourself into your "name" and to extend that recognition to others. Just don't get stuck in one name, however inclusive, because, I'd put money on it, you're even bigger! 😄 Love to you, welcome to the discussion even if you DID misread me, feel free to respond, but don't risk letting me shut you down. Keep changing and growing! 💗

Here’s my take on Myers Briggs: I score really high on each of the four categories/letters. This means that it’s very useful to me. My friend, on the other hand is very low to low on all of them. For her, all of it could go either way. So my idea is that these “fence sitters” don’t have much use for it. Their “type” is too ambiguous for it to fit them in any meaningful way. INTJ
