LIVE IRISH MYTHS EPISODE

A bit of a diversion this week! An out-of-the-blue tip-off from an old school friend today resulted in my procurement of a cache of archaeological papers and books for the Mythical Ireland library. Only after I got them home I realised that they were from the personal library/collection of the late Professor Frank Mitchell (1912-1997), an eminent Irish scholar in the fields of archaeology, geology, anthropology, geography, botany, social history and ornithology. Some of the papers are signed to him - one by the late Professor George Eogan, who was one of his protégés, and who was responsible for the excavation of Knowth, the largest passage-tomb in Ireland. Professor Mitchell lived at Townley Hall, close to my home city of Drogheda. He published many books and papers on a wide variety of subjects, and was considered one of the foremost academics of the 20th century. He is fondly remembered by all those who knew him. It is an enormous pleasure for me to add some of Prof. Mitchell's personal books/papers to the Mythical Ireland library. They will be treasured.
