Alec Baldwin Faces Hard Evidence as Prosecutors Accuse Him of Lying - 'Rust' Trial Day 2

Ойын-сауық

The Alec Baldwin trial continued Thursday with more testimony from crime scene technician Marissa Poppell. Poppell continued to reveal her findings from the investigation into the live ammunition that ended up on the set of "Rust" and in Baldwin's prop gun. During her testimony, things became tense and Baldwin shook his head in disagreement, later leaving the courtroom. Gun manufacturer Alessandra Pieta took the stand and revealed the gun used in the “Rust” film can only be fired by pulling the trigger, which Baldwin denies doing.

Baldwin’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison. A judge will rule on these issues after hearing motions from the prosecution and Baldwin’s defense. Baldwin was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter in January for the death of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

    I’ve testified in criminal court hundreds of times. My take so far is that the defense is doing a better job than the prosecution. The defense also has a lot going for it. Film sets are not like any other work or home environment where there are guns. Actors are not expected to have expertise or even knowledge of guns or gun safety (some do but most don’t). That is why armorers are not required at homes or other places of business where guns are located, but they are required to be on film sets. The burden of gun safety is on the armorer; no one else. When I’m on a film set, I always check the gun(s) involved in a scene I’m in. But that is me. Every actor or crew member can’t be expected to do that because they don’t know anything about guns. When the armorer failed in her duties in this case, she, and she alone is responsible of the tragedy that took place. She should have received a much longer prison term. When people (jurors) realize the difference between the make believe on a movie set and the rest of the world, it is clear that Alec Baldwin should not have even been charged. He may be a jack-wad in real life, but that is not justification for prosecuting him.

  • @drak0v

    @drak0v

    20 күн бұрын

    Alec Baldwin was also a producer. Producers have a responsibility for set safety. Real guns were being used. Alec was using his real gun as a pointer. He was directing with a real gun. When someone hands you a real gun you check it. That is your responsibility whether you are an actor, or someone off the street walking into a gun range. Gun safety 101 - Never point a gun at someone unless you intend to fire, always check a gun when its handed to you, and never use a gun as a pointer. This is not a complicated case.

    Nobody has said he did it deliberately. Who knows why there was a live round in the gun. But he failed to handle the gun properly. Actors are instructed to treat any firearm as a real weapon loaded with live ammunition. The charges are real my friend. He was negligent in proper handling of a potentially lethal weapon. And you say you would check yourself. You know what to look for. Few if any actors would know what to look for. It is not their responsibility. The same as it is not their's to check a vehicle they would have to drive in a shoot or the rigging equipment of a flying special effect or pyrotechnics.
