Put away that gat, and stride on over to the ol leather couch for some old fashioned gangster action. Don't be a wise guy.
In Seen It, we discuss mall cops on the edge, wonder boys and ice harvests. Also we gear up for Halloween as Matt makes another exciting announcement.
All film footage is used in accordance with fair use and US copyright law. All music in the show is used with full permission of the composer.
Thanks for all the great comments. Keep em coming! If you watch one of the movies we discuss, let us know what you thought of it.
Welcome To The Basement" is a show about watching, discussing and having fun with movies. Matt choses the movie and Craig doesn't know what it is until the cameras start rolling, so none of the discussion or riffing is planned ahead of time.
Movie announced on facebook before every new episode. Get the movie and follow along. We do discuss the entire movie, including the ending, so if you want to avoid spoilers, watch the movie first.

"Go to Cats!" "Yeah. Oh my God, I love that show." What a difference 7 years makes.
Jesus people. Shut up about chad vader. They said they were gonna bring him back eventually, so just enjoy this kickass show in the meantime.
I clicked on this episode of Welcome to the Basement featuring Little Caeser and a commercial for Little Caesar's played... coincidence?

There was a Little Ceasars where I used to live so it's hard not to think of it. 🍕

It's the Deep State
"He lives in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." Haha, I was thinking that right before you said it!
You won't regret it. This show is consistently great.
Told my friend about your show. I described it as "two guys watch a movie and talk about it." He thought I was an idiot but trusted me enough to give you guys a try. You now have a new fan. :)
I love how you put the sound clips with your cat's quizzical looking face at the end!
In the end, the love we take is equal to the...amount of times we get the papers, get the papers.
I kind of wish Craig would have continued to wear the Ass Kicker badge throughout the remainder of the season :) Thank you for another lovely episode, guys :) This show is always such a pleasure. This show is always something to look forward to. Out of curiosity, have either of you seen the 1991 Jean Pierre Jeunet film "Delicatessen"? I recently stumbled into it and have fallen in love with the quirky dystopian comedy.
You want a bad date movie? Don't ask me why I said yes to it, but Knocked Up was all sorts of awkward. First date. Another awkward movie was when I went on this blind date to see Yes Man. Liked the movie, but the guy was definitely not my style. And when he asked if I wanted to go do x, y, or z afterwards, I had to do the opposite for the movie's message and say no man.

+Jacki R Faces of Death might be a better choice.
Please keep making these! This is my favorite show on KZread, it is the only reason I check my subscriptions.
Please keep making these videos!! I am on life support and the only thing keeping me alive is when this channel uploads a video!
I have been watching this show for a while now, and you guys reminded me of two movies that I hadn't seen in ages: Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf and Vertigo. My husband had never seen either and so we recently watched them together and had a blast. Watching this show has really prompted me to start watching movies again. Thanks for providing the internet with this really fun and entertaining show. I look forward to each episode.
Ever since I saw "Double Indemnity" in my film noir class a few years ago, I've loved watching movies with Edward G. Robinson in them. Incredible actor. Seriously reminds me of Al Lewis, the guy who played Grandpa in The Munsters. Anyway, great stuff as usual; thanks a lot! - Sean
I got so excited when he started introducing Incubus! Yes Yes Yes! p.s. Do love this show. Between you guys and RLM I have learned so much about film not just as an mindless romp but as an art and science.
WTTB series is really awesome, thanks for all the hard work guys !
These shows were so jammed full of content. You did good, guys!
Can’t believe you guys got thru this whole film without one Little Caesars “Pizza-Pizza!” reference 😄
"A writer writing about a writer not being able to write." "Right." haha
This is so much fun! Finding some eps of WTtB that I missed before. Yessssss!
I love this show and I look forward to every new episode. Keep up the good work!
I love that you guys talk about the symbolism in movies. It lends layers to a movie I would have never thought of. Mmmyeah!
I am so Happy!!! This is my favorite show on KZread!!!!
3:31 When Matt said, "Okay, tough guys," I said aloud: "You better not dance!" I'm ashamed. I'm so ashamed.
Don't think I didn't notice all that MST3K behind you, Matt. Awesome! :D
Digging the "Black Sunday" vinyl behind Craig. I'm curious as to why it's there, though. I must be missing the correlation between the album and "Little Caesar."
Awesome episode guys! Thanks for the great entertainment!
Slowly I turn...lol! I haven't heard that in years! Hysterical!
I'm kinda surprised the Craig didn't mention that Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor.
Matt is looking damn good lately! Love me some Sloany-boy
Love this show!
This is so great. Uh... I love it.
Great episode dudes. i really enjoyed the analysis of this movie.
Great! That scene of the assassination on the steps was so obviously the quotation in Godfather - Part II...
8:33 Rico - owner of the world's most threatening thumb !! : P
Hey guys, Always look forward to your new episodes and has been a great source to discover new movies that I have yet to see. I was wondering though have you guys seen, " Legend of Hell House"? A simple and captivating haunted house film with fantastic acting and even more amazing cinematography.Keep up the great work!
never stop you guys are my faverat!!
Seen it - "Flight of Dragons" ? The picture on the cover turns most people away, thinking its a cheesy kids movie. But they re-drew the cover to try and sell more copies to kid's moms. The animation and story are both really great, and a little darker like most good kids movies from the 80's were.
MFW I just found out Dean Norris was in Starship Troopers, even though I've seen it many time.
Hi Guys, really enjoy the show. Thanks for bringing an educational show and still keeping it interesting. Movie for 'scene it' - Critters. (The first one) This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid and gave me nightmares for years. It's a great movie as I remember I must watch it again some day.
1:34 in and already thinking about subscribing. I also love to talk about movies with my friends.
Random suggestion: each pick a loved movie from your childhood that the other hasn't seen and see if they hold up.
Yes!
I just watched this movie and it's really good.
Definitely The Mummy!! Karloff is amazing in it!
Have you seen UHF? A staple of my childhood that's as much spoof and as it is a love letter to movies and TV.
I wonder if vampires get anxious when they see a pencil sharpener in the room?
thanks for the siskel and ebert blamesociety version of movie review..enjoyed it
Never even heard of that movie, but it seems you guys had a lot of fun with it :) for the Halloween special i'd go with the Hammer Dracula. Love it ;) Wondering if you guys have seen 22 bullets. Just saw it the other day and i liked it a lot.. of course there are better movies with Jean Reno but somehow i thought he did a really great job. Greetings and keep up the good work :)
Lol now we know were Tony Trout got mother of mercy from lol.
I have a pencil sharpener bus and its a double decker bus.
Holy crap... Incubus in esperanto D: i've been wanting to see that Awesome guys!
It's curtains for ya, Rocky...curtains! Ah...they're adorable
Nice shirt, i love you Granny Sloan :')
The Starship troopers officer in the clip you added was Hank from Breaking Bad!
Bonus points for avoiding any Rico Suave jokes.
Yay the mummy!! Please!
Have you seen the talent grenade The Lion in Winter? It is my favorite movie of all time.
have you seen "City of God" not to many good films come out of brazilian cinema here but when this came out in the theaters i was really impressed very heavy but very good
Point, Sloan. There's your biography title Matt!
"A writer writing about a writer not being able to write..." "Right." ... If that wasn't on purpose, it was amazing. LOL.
I just saw "Incubus" today. I seriously hope you guys do that so I can see if I'm correct in feeling that Shatner's mere presence completely undercuts any attempt at expressionist horror or seriousness.
then where did you get the skills to make such magnificent content?
I feel that Rico was the inspiration for The Penguin.
if you haven't seen it you should watch "lets go to prison" its a dark comedy staring will arnett, dax shepard, and micheal shannon.
I'm pulling for The Mummy!
hey matt, did you go to film school? Because I was pondering whether I should go or not an was wondering if you did.
Addendum: Or if you believe that, had Star Trek not existed, it would be more scary or impactful since Shatner probably wouldn't be as recognizable a leading man.
MYA SEE MYAAAAA!!
I really hope they do Day of the Dead. I love that movie.
You guys should consider watching one of the Olsen Gang movies. It would be a nice entry into your foreign films repertoire.
Have you ever seen "One Hour Photo?" It's chilling at times and I consider it to be Robin Williams at his best.
"A writer writing about not being able to write." "Right."
Another great addition, but why only 240p?
I love as Edward G Robinson as Dathan in The Ten Commandments "where's your Messiah now SEE"
Unless there is another commercial I don't know about, you're right
I hope Craig picks Day of the Dead, probably my favorite of Romero's original zombie trilogy
That's such a great weird image, some guy looking at you with malice in his eyes as he methodically sharpens a pencil. Someone should use that to introduce a villain in a movie.
I can't remember if you already had the new TRON Legacy on Seen It, Matt, but I sure would like to hear your opinion on it, perhaps compared to the old 1982 Tron ?
No one kills a man with a pencil like Heath Ledger...
Soylent Green --Yeah, seeee.
Have you seen Tarkovsky's Solaris? I'm glad that I saw it but I don't think I could watch it again. Wonderful film that beats he remake.
I was wondering if you two have seen Edger Wright's latest film, "The World's End." I was surprised to find out they quote The Wild Angels more then once. It also echos a lot that movie's themes about about freedom and what it means to be free. Thoughts?
Ernesto should star in his own episode.
Italians are olive. And I'm liking the Josh Homme slick curl Mr Sloan! Stick a beard on Craig and you got 2/3 of Them Crooked Vultures! (and most QOTSA albums)
Can you do longer seen its?
PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE DO "HORROR OF DRACULA"!!! I just saw the whole Hammer Studios/Christopher Lee Dracula series, and omfg is Christopher Lee the GREATEST vampire ever, and Peter Cushing is the BEST Van Helsing.
all this talk of a Little Caesar makes me want some pizza.
I know you guys love Michael Shannon, have you seen his recent commercial for Mercedes where he plays the devil. He's so perfect for the part, I was wondering if he played the devil in a movie. Maybe you can answer that question.
You guys should follow this movie up with the Warner Brothers Merry Melodies short 'Thugs With Dirty Mugs'
Have you guys seen "La Jetée"? I don't think it qualifies for a movie, in the common sense, but nevertheless a french master piece!
Have you ever seen the 1954 animal farm movie (you can actually search for it the full version is on KZread somewhere)
you guys should watch lawless great film and cast
Sorry, I incorrectly ID'd Michael Shannon as the devil in the Mercedes commercial, Its actually Willem Dafoe. My sincere apologies.
Maaahhhhhhhhhhh
A few sub-orbital rocket launches could theoretically visit all those places within a night. I think Craig has a real point here. Someone ask Richard Branson to create the million dollar "Round-the-World" date.
Because they just uploaded it, and KZread hasn't finished processing.
Have you seen Cabin in the Woods? It was a surprise to me because it wasn't as scary as I would have thought
Holy shit, please do Day of the Dead!
For a second, I thought that was Yeshmin Blechin in the thumbnail.
