Little Albania FOOD TOUR in NYC! This is How they Treat Me in LITTLE ALBANIA in New York City!

My whirlwind 48 hours in New York City continued with an incredible tour of its rich Little Albania neighborhood!
Over the past century, Albanian immigrants have moved to this part of the city, also known as Little Italy. From byre to rakija to tavas to cevapi, you can find it all here!
🇦🇱 More Albania Videos: • Traveling to ALBANIA -...
DUA MARKET: At this authentic Albanian market, my friend Alexandra prepared sweet cherry peppers stuffed with cheese; sun-dried peppers stuffed with provolone; olives; an ajvar-like red chili paste; and a massive chicken cutlet sandwich with arugula, mozzarella, and roasted red red peppers.
We also enjoyed some rakija, petulla/krofne with spicy honey, and palačinke (Balkan crepes) with Nutella!
TEUTA QEBAPTORE: Here, we had some delicious qofte, qebapa, and sujuk with salad, cheese, kaymak, and ajvar!
DÉA: Here, we enjoyed some crispy cheese and meat byrek. It was fresh and flaky, and the filling inside was extremely flavorful!

I moved from the Bronx 5 years ago and had visited Arthur Avenue many times for Italian goodies and restaurants. I am a bit surprised to see that it has turned from Little Italy to Little Albania, since the Italians tend to have a very strong hold on their areas. But I am not that much surprised since there is a high Albanian and Croatian population just off of Pelham Parkway and Fordham Road area. The area still looks that same and it's nice to see that it has been kept alive.

There is no Croatian community in the Bronx. There are ethnic Albanians from Albania proper, from Kosovo, Montenegro and Macedonia. Sure there may be a few random Croatians here and there (I know there are a few Bosnians) but not a community.

There are a few Albanians and Albanian businesses on and off of that portion of Arthur Avenue. However this is not an Albanian neighborhood or Little Albania. The surrounding blocks are mostly Mexican, Puerto Rican, Dominican and Anglo-Carribean with a few west Africans. Also there is no little Albania anywhere in New York. There are areas with high concentrations of Albanians in the US in the Bronx (Pelham Parkway being the largest, Morris Park, Bedford Park, Norwood, Pelham Bay, Country Club), as well as in Queen, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Westchester County, and as a matter of fact in 2023, no neighborhood in NY is not mixed or 100% something, it’s not the 60’s anymore. Also, I don’t know why they persist in calling it Little Italy, there may be 3 Italian families left, and most Italian restaurants and businesses are owned by the sons and daughters of 3rd generation Italian immigrants who live in NJ or Westchester and the rest of Italian businesses are Albanian-owned and operated
