In the summer and fall of 2021, I took two trips to New York City to explore the food culture of one of the largest and most ethnically diverse cities on the planet. One of the cuisines I explored in depth was Albanian cuisine. After visiting Albania twice in 2020, I wanted to dive even deeper into the rich culinary landscape of the country, but in NYC!
For my Albania and Balkan food adventures in the city, I teamed up with a few friends and hit up an impressive number of restaurants that specialize in cuisine from the Balkan region of Europe. Some of them are so well-known and authentic that they’ve been visited by Albanian stars like Dua Lipa!

My first adventure saw me have burek at Déa, local favorites like qebap and sujuk at Çakor, and flija and tavas at Çka Ka Qellu, before ending with open-face sandwiches at No Fork.
After that, I linked up with my friend Diana, who joined me at Dua Kafe, a popular NYC eatery that has hosted everyone from Dua Lipa to Rita Ora to Kim Kardashian! There, we had everything from Elbasan tava to sallate oktapodi to flija to qebape. Of course, we also had to have some raki!
Then, finally, my friend Mimoza and I stopped by Arberia Grill, where we enjoyed burek, goulash, fli, qebapa, tavas, sujuk, qofte, vrishlle, and more. And even though we ate a ton there, we then headed over to Sinshpi Restaurant for some pjleskavica, kofte, pjeshke, tepsishte, and even some Albanian pizza!

I love food of different countries….when I go to NY, these are the restaurants I’m Going to go to…you are a good example of the ambassador to these delicious foods . My compliments to all these wonderful Cooks/Chefs! I’m not even Albanian. I just love and respect great tasting foods!
Very good doc. These documentaries are very helpful to people who want to try different foods but don't know where to go. They also show unknowing people what type of dishes are offered and make it easier to decide on what to eat. All the food shown here are so interesting in the way it's prepared. I can't believe the amount of dishes they presented. How do you decide? The people are so nice and friendly and much respect to all of them. So another good job. To all the people who say that David keeps showing the same thing over and over and that they want to see something different, I want them to remember that these videos are documentaries to remind us of what David has done in the past. It's like a refresher course. So lighten up. New videos are coming soon🇹🇹🇨🇦

The various Burek...w/coffee great breakfast...Ottoman influence,, a lot of History there...and above all the Raki the wake me up drink.. just so interesting learning about Albanian cuisine.. their foods look very tasty/delicious. Albanian food would be on my plate in a heart beat . If ever to NY will defiantly go get some Albanian food. it would be the closest I could get . Really love this documentary . Im so hungry right now lol. Burek looks delish right now with my coffee. Lunch All that food white beans . goulash sausages lamb roasted peppers and cheese .. Just perfect. I would say a must visit to eat! Steppin in to historical setting restaurant would be a nice experience. Food looked amazing. Every single place you went the food was off the chain . Im so hungry right now lol. I love cheese so I could fit right in to Albanian life lol. Can you adopt me now ? LOL. Will go to all of those places if ever in NY!! Thanks for taking me back to my old neighborhood. I grew up not too far from there. Next we had to check out city Island in the Bronx, as well as Arthur Ave.,, Little Italy. @@thomaskoshy1364 I agree with you. As much as I love Indian food, it's getting tiring to hear people keep asking, literally begging David to revisit India and saying that their food is the best. They don't understand that other people have different tastes and want to see variety. Even in the chat when David says he is not going back anytime soon, they still insist. I love watching all the foods and culture of the various countries David visited. And actually I enjoyed more the video documentary he did in New York on Indian food. So, Thomas, let's hope that they lighten up on insisting that David revisit India again. Some people may not like you and I writing these comments, but honesty is the best policy.
