When I visited northwestern Albania back in 2020, I spent 24 incredible hours at Mrizi i Zanave, the country’s top agrotourism resort and foodie hotspot! This documentary is all about my experience there.
Mrizi i Zanave is run by a man named Altin, a culinary genius who has adopted the concept of slow food, which is all about connecting food producers with their consumers. The concept specializes in fresh, fair, and sustainable food made from local ingredients.

On my first day, Altin greeted me with a taste of his incredible corn byrek. We followed that with breakfast at the resort’s outdoor “forest” dining area, where we also had some amazing eggs, petulla, fruit, juice, and of course, some raki!
Then, he took me to check out his production facility and farm. The production facility is an old converted prison and is where they age and store their meat, cheese, and wine! Altin also showed me their farm and vineyards before we headed back to their main outdoor dining hall for lunch!
Lunch was decadent, inventive, and satisfying. The roasted goose, sheep kebabs, and blueberry yufka were some of my favorites, but the Fiori di zucca is such a nostalgic dish for me. What an insanely delicious meal!
After visiting some craftsmen in the local village, we returned to the resort for dinner that night. We had a lot of the same dishes as before, but we also had pork kebabs and baby goat!
Mrizi i Zanave is a foodie’s dream. If you like fresh, tasty, local, and sustainable food, it is an absolute must when you visit Albania. Tell them I sent you!

I was here last year. Best food in Albania for a fraction of the price in the US or other expensive countries. Plus Albanian people are super friendly. You should try and visit UKA farm in Tirana as well. Organic food is the way to go.
Going to Albania in 10 days and back to Mziri Zanava soon after. I’ll be in Lezhë for work.

Heaven right there. One place on the bucket list for sure . Beautiful . Corn Byrek looks delicious :) Wood fire cooking is the best. Such flavor . Beautiful setting my kind of atmosphere. I love figs yummy what a nice breakfast. Love fresh jam and honey so good :) Eating outside makes the food taste better. Its amazing all the production of fresh products . Always the best ever. Love seeing the processes of cheese wine sausages being made :) One thing were I live we have black berries all over wild can pick also lots of berry farms here to :) Love cheese ! such a nice stock of cheese. Sundried tomatoes oh i love those want a bottle! Artichokes! one of my favorite veggies.. Really for me this heaven place to be. Honey, the shop is so nice. Now the restaurant omg . Every dish looks amazing. The blueberry pasta! that sounds so good and different for sure. Kabobs and desserts. Now I am really hungry!!!! Crafts always love . The rooms to stay in are so lovely and what a nice view. Really enjoyed this documentary :) ♥

Like how they use everything that the locals have grown.....the terrace where you had breakfast is just breathtaking.... the foods fresh fruits wine cheese beautiful stone buildings... saw so much in this video ... just appreciate it all. Great job David! Thank for promoting Albania PASTËRMA ( pas-tor-ma) means Jerky. In the North of Albania it is mainly made of pork. However, they make the best beef jerky.

I have been to lots of restaurants but this is best ever been. Altin is Top Shef in the world, not just Albania.
David: These documentaries are really interesting. Everything about this one was SIMPLE. Are these Italians living in Albania? I believe that you were speaking some Italian!!!. That farm is HUGE and you can't want for any thing. I love the fact that nothing is complicated, from the farm to the food to the dining area and to THAT room. NO PRIVACY. No sleeping in the buff🤣🤣🤣. Isn't it amazing that that couple was still doing everything the old fashioned way, the lady who was weaving that table cloth and the gentleman who was making the bread baskets and the pottery maker? No modern technology there. Makes one appreciate it all the more. SIMPLICITY throughout. Here's to good health 🙏🕊️🇨🇦🇹🇹

No, they are not Italians, they are Albanians who decades ago emigrated to Italy and worked there for about a decade and then returned to their properties in Fishte-Lezhe-Albania and invested their savings in this FAIRIES'-LAND (the actual translation of the name of their agritourism business.
