I'd legitimately recommend Scarlet/Violet if you want to jump back into the mainline series. There are "some" technical issues still, but aside from some minor glitches and the occasional framerate problems, most of the major hiccups have already been patched out by now. Overall I'd say between the legitimately great storylines and what I'd consider some of the best new additions to the Pokemon roster, I'd unironically recommend them.

Iirc Renegade Cynthia's theme came before we knew that Volo is partnered with Giratina. TPC basically teased Volo having Giratina in Masters EX and barely anyone knew

Best part is that they're a tech unit, so they're pretty much in the background until you use the sync move (which is 1.5X powerful with 6starsEX) like a jumpscare to the opponent. So double the fear of god then.

Pokémon sleep should let you download themes from previous games to set as your alarm when I got the app I was kinda disappointed that that wasn't a thing

If anything, Area Zero's theme always unnerved me. Combined with the aesthetic of Area Zero, the moment I first set foot there in Violet, it REALLY felt to me like I was somewhere that humans aren't allowed to be, and the entire time I was there, I felt this lingering sense of "You shouldn't be here. You need to leave."
