The real problem is when a group holds a belief, to the point of certainty, that is not to be criticised or reasoned with. All beliefs, be they political or religious, should be held provisionally. We need to be skeptical of others and most importantly, our own beliefs and be willing and able to change them if necessary.

Unfortunately, I don't think this lady was correct in talking about 'fear'. Anti semitism has been around in Europe for centuries and it is not based on fear, in my opinion. Germany, pre WW2 was the most sophisticated European country with brilliant universities and manufacturing businesses. The people did not become anti semites through 'fear'. "Round up the townspeople" "Shoot the fighting age males", "Bomb the buildings harbouring terrorists" Etc Etc By the time the order came to shoot children, the threshold of evildoing & obedience had long since passed

It was to my horror of what I saw: the pictures and where they were according to the historical aspects of it made me almost want to throw up. It's so sickening, very dark and lastly it had a overwhelming amount of sadness. I never been there but watching it made it feel like I was there through the video. I remembered seeing a movie in high school around that time. I couldn't fathom of what I have seen and the whole movie made me very angry I mean it's what I reacted to it at the time meaning that it was very upsetting to me to see the treatment towards innocent people. No person should have to be treated like that. Just saying. This is why I will never forget history and knowing history is very important no matter what.

I remember getting more and more angry at the Germans for perpetrating this but then suddenly realized at the same time, anger is what created this place. It was so humbling, I cried. Later, on my way back to Amsterdam, I shared a train compartment with a young East German, Gunnar who was on his way to Med school. It was his first opportunity after the wall fell. We should despise the dictators and their insanity. It's the ordinary people following the orders to be inhumane to other people that bothers me. We see it, even today. Every living being whether human or animal, deserves respect and dignity. Will the human race ever evolve enough to learn this?

Funny way to spell Republicans. Let' me tell you this as a descendant of those Nazis: Never again. And you could not be further from the truth. In the US, some states make it worse for Women, POC and some want to outright cleanse their communities from trans people. And Europe leans to the right as well, even here in Germany where one would think we learned from history. I often post on thematics like that to remind people what could happen if we let it slide and to prevent Right Wing Nutjobs from spreading false claims and alternative facts.

"The holocaust" is a term I always wondered about. I live here in Europe where the second world war happened. I've never heard anyone use that term ever, and everyone here has past family members who were murdered in that time. Is it an American term for everyone who died by the hand of the nzis?? or is it a term for one group of people that died? Remember over 100 million people were killed in the second world war.
