@A H the Bible was written by men, ancient Arab men. No one think of it like that ever, they prefer to believe it was magically written by God. Many books were written and not included, man chose which books should be included. Yes I know it is Godly inspired but I doubt every word was, it is extremely biased at times and much was lost in translation.

Thank you! That’s so often the case. I remember feeling so vindicated when my mother had labeled me as such and I read the notes he had made on his home visit (years later). They read, regarding my mother, “the mother is in denial and delusional, with poor reality orientation.” I was taken from the home not because I was “troubled,” but abused by my stepfather, turned out, etc. I wouldn’t testify against my mother for neglect and abuse, despite the charges being true. They weren’t leveled by me, but the state. Today I regret not doing so because it didn’t help her. Survivors, please don’t EVER feel guilty for telling the truth. Your survival skills are brave either way. But I wish I had given my mother the opportunity to change by prosecuting. Now, her denial is so deep there is no help for her. When people are as unaware of what’s socially unacceptable as she is, they need the state, or anyone, to step in and tell them they have to learn.

Unfortunately in this day and age there are still parents who will kick out their pregnant teenage daughter. That puts her in a very vulnerable situation. I don't know how anyone can raise a child and then coldly turn their back on them for the "crime" of getting pregnant. They should hang their heads in shame.

My moms real mother was forced to give her up by her father (my mom's gramdfather). Her real dad never knew he had a daughter and died 5 years after she was born and her real mother died 15 years after that. Apparently, she had 2 sons and a daughter prior to her death, so my mom was able to find her half brother's and half sister and its so weird how much they all look alike and act alike. I love my Nana (my moms adoptive mom). She has always been an amazing grandmother and I have amazing cousins, but it's nice to know that I have other uncles, cousins, and an aunt who are just like us and biologically related. Her brothers were so excited when they finally met. I actually also found out that our biological great grandfather (my mom's grandfather) was the cook for Al Capone and they have awesome stories about him (our great grandfather) :)

In the south, things are different, you'd be surprised at how many old people remember things that happened "so long ago", back then it was all about image, if a family had a teen girl get pregnant, it was her fault, regardless of how or who she got pregnant. They'd hide the baby, by giving it to a family member, giving up for adoption, taking the girl somewhere pregnant, and she'd come Home without a baby or a baby bump, like in this video, send them to an abusive religious school, even if the girl wanted to keep her baby. This is a rare case where the mom actually finds her child.

It's disgusting and pathetic how all the pedophiles and rapists and abusers hide behind "God". My father and uncle were victims of the Brooklyn preist abuse also. I recently watched a documentary about the Native American schools in Canada called "Native American Residental Schools. From Wikipedia: "Attendance was mandatory from 1894 to 1947. The network was funded by the Canadian government's Department of Indian Affairs and administered by Christian churches" Native children had to go to these schools to learn English, French and how to be "white" (for lack of better words). The abuse was horrific and centered around sexual abuse. It's on Lifetime Movie Club if you want to watch it.

I was a teen Mom. My daughter would have been stripped from me when she was born, had my parents thought me going to a place like this was beneficial. I had my daughter back in 1993, at the age of 17. This breaks my heart knowing that mothers out there were chastised for getting pregnant, yet the fathers walked on like no big deal. For those babies who were desperately wanted, this makes my heart hurt. I sincerely hope more Bethesda Moms can find their children. I love that this Momma and her daughter were able to reconnect. 💗

I was actually in foster care myself at the time I had my daughter, thankfully I was with a good foster family that allowed me to stay and raise my daughter until 18 . I feel for this mom, my kids are my world and I would have been devastated had they taken my daughter just because I was in foster care through no fault of my own. My mom gave birth to my older brother in '87. She was just 16. Luckily, our dad stuck around and, although they are divorced now, they were able to stay together for 15 years. But I can't imagine the hardships she would have gone through had our dad not been who he is. I was a single mom myself at 20, but the world is so different now, and single moms aren't quite as frowned upon. I'm glad you got to keep your daughter as well!

My heart goes out to you. I was a teen mum in 1988 at the age of 17. My parents weren't really about at the time and my boyfriends Catholic parents wanted to hide my pregnancy and tried to have me locked away with nuns in a home (St Joseph's, I've since seen a book written about the abuse done by nuns in that place) and took me there, they wanted the baby to be adopted out. I though wanted to keep my baby and refused to stay in the home . I said that they could not keep me there and that I would run away if left there so was lucky enough to end up keeping my baby due to my stubborn refusal to comply.

Please look up Tuam in Ireland, the nuns starved and mistreated the babies of the unwed mothers, its estimated that at least a million babies were murdered by them. All in the name of religion. In one of the homes in Tuam, the bodies were thrown into the cesspit. It is horrific and the government in Ireland is still doing everything it can to cover it up. They wont even allow the bones to be removed for decent burial. They also sold babies to America. It is a huge scandal rivalling the holocaust and one day it will have to be faced up to. This one cant be blamed on anything the British did, this was Irish people, religion and government. Many of the unwed mothers were impregnated by priests.

I was pressured by my family as an unwed mother to go to Catholic Charities and adopt him " Or else " and from there, GONE! I have reconnected with him and he is so happy as am I that we found each other. We have not met in person but soon. I would have never found him had it not been for Ancestry DNA. I can't thank them enough. I had every door shut in my face from the State of Virginia and Catholic Charities. I am happy for this lady and her daughter having lived this too.

This story illustrates a not so loving way to help a pregnant teen girl. She had no family to turn to in keeping her child. Others made decisions for her and cohesion was applied to conform to the rules. But there is redemption in her story. An orphan herself was being cared for. She was not forced to abort and gave life to her child which was then adopted into a good family. The best part was the Mother/Daughter reunion and the longing they had to see one another. They got closure and were blessed. A beautiful love story.
