What's the saying? There's two types of drivers at Indy, those who have crashed, and those who will.

And now Linus is officially an Indycar driver. Gotta get that first crash at IMS out of the way.
Despite the car sliding, he did quite a good job of controlling the car. Glad he did not have a heavy hit to the inside wall.

Bill Bukovich, 1955(during the race). And that Turn 2 crash during practice involving Scott Brayton. When this man was taking his time getting out of the machine, with all that safety crew around him blocking the view, it made me nervous.

I was there that day with my girlfriend and we knew he was dead the car totally disintegrated that is the worst racing accident in the history of Motorsports I believe and I seen a lot of people get killed at the speedway and a lot of bad accidents but that's the worst accident in racing history I believe the whole car exploded around him
The sigh or relief at 3:15. Glad he's okay did a good job avoiding a hard second contact.
He did a pretty good job keeping it out of the inside wall!
That ride down the straight made me anxious, you never know if it's going to hook up and send it head on into the inside wall.

The down rear tire kept that from happening as every time the car touched back down, it drove the car straight into the infield. Of course, it also made his front brakes worthless, but he was scrubbing enough speed.
Nice that we see something of indy here in Europe in youtube nowadays - thanks to active youtube channels. Back in 1990's, when the channels made their everything for indy 500 not to be seen in Europe, they uninamously secured, that the sport lost even the last interest of itself in here - just in the last few years I (and thousands of other Europeans) got to see those races, we wanted to see, Rick Mears, Emmo, Al jr and others win... Had they provided global TV-coverage of indy 500, it would be hugely bigger than it is now - not just the driving circle for retired F1-drivers or rising stars going upwards at it's best.
This crash provides a good visual into just how fast these cars are going and how much kinetic energy needs to be used up before he comes to a stop. Glad he's okay. IMS is unforgiving.
Car took it quite well, and he hit in best place possible to minimize driver injury. Slow it WAY down and watch.
I’m always so appreciative of the delay of replays until we know the driver is ok its so respectful, nothing else is as important as their safety

Slapping the wall flat, either side, front or back, flush, could have been awful. He dissipated most energy possible in such a situation. Also he was on brakes, prior, scrubbing speed off. Wheel looks almost true also, only the tire came off. Amazing high-speed, into a corner, drove it so well.
There's no "good" crashes at Indy,,,, but at least the front tires didn't bite. (Couldn't see if he turned into the slide or not)). Because that's sending you into the wall front end first. Sorry to see the car torn up, glad he got out and seemed to be okay. 👍👍
Its was a very good "save" luckily the car didn't over rotate and when head front to the wall.
Good to see him well. Hang in there.
infamous turn 2 at indy strikes again yikes 😮🔥🔥
Shame as he was flying but he learned the hard way the speedway bites back.

I remember Rick Mears practice/qualifying accident in the same exact location. Mears ended up on his side and spun like a top for several hundred feet. I believe Mears got a broken wrist for his adventure but was able to get into the race.
Relatively soft contact. Best way to hit the wall.
You either hit the wall or you're gonna hit the wall
Thank goodness he's alright!

won't that be a stat for the future of Indy going forward, will ? there be a May without a practice crash and only one minor on race day ?

There's no saving one at these speeds, when it lets go, brace yourself and hope it's a glancing blow.
Didn't hit too hard and it is team Ganassi so they have plenty of parts and resources.

Not sure why I even care about this highlight when in fact Indycar has done everything they can to make it difficult to follow the sport. Obscure TV channels and a pay-window at Peacock as if we're watching free TV these days. The website is a complete joke. Its a real shame what this has become. Please by all means dont take my word for it ask Michael Andretti as he says the same thing about the TV package.

Even as a lifelong fan of Indycar, I only watch the races televised on network television. As much as I love this series, I don't want yet another streaming service, so I skip those races and watch the highlights on KZread. It's unfortunate, but that's the world we live in now.

As indicative of the strange and obscure sponsorships, especially the last few yrs.. these small cop as nues believe in it and expect a ROI..But fortune 500 companies , not so much
