Running a full size Helix in 4CM into a Friedman BE50dlx head. Using the 1/4” out of the Helix to feed the return of the Friedman. Where do I set the big master volume knob on the Helix to get the proper gain level going into my amp? I like this method a lot because it allows me to reduce the volume (via the big knob on Helix) of my entire rig when practicing etc. However, not sure where “unity gain” is on the Helix so I can set it properly for live gigs. Thx!

@Line6Support I've got a HX Effects coming.. here is where I have concerns. It seems like the loop can only be line level or instrument level. What if you have a line level effects loop? That (from my understanding) means that you are slamming the amps input with a line level signal. My thoughts on this are that I should be able to use line level setting, then adjust the send level in the block to reduce that output feeding the amp input accordingly, that being said, how much should that be? Seems the "numbers" for line vs instrument levels are all over the place when you start searching.

I set my delay and reverb after my FX block.. why won't delay or reverb work when it's set up exactly like you have it here? Serious issue.

I have one question. Can i send stereo output to mixer?

I sold my HD500X because of the lack of transparency or the inability to have the tone of my EVH uncompromised. There was always a "digitized" compressed sound running in the 4 cable method. This HX Effects unit actually has the 4CM in the owners manual which is great. I have been unable to find anything on line that explains the settings within the HX when adding the effects loop (my amp) into the signal chain to keep the tone of my amp and the signal transparent. In the owners manual it shows setting it up with line level signal and with instrument level? I spent months battling with the HD 500 with a ton of opinions on line as to how best to use it in 4CM. If there's anyone out there who uses this, do you have to jump through the same sort hoops?

Can you use the 4cm in stomp mode and with a hardware(evh overdrive) pedal?

4 cable method is nice! I have a Helix Floor running 2.71. I don't use 4 cable on it because EVERY patch has to have a send and return which has to be added manually. This includes the factory presets. Am I missing something here? What is the solution to this using 4 cable method? Thank you. Bill

It's a pain having to add an effects loop block to every preset isn't it, that's why I've deleted almost every factory preset and made my own. The Hx Effects in my opinion is entirely made for the 4 cable method as that's how you get the most from it. I'm sure many people who haven't got an amp with an effects loop that bought this would be really pissed off!

Hello Line 6. Why is there a 3dB signal loss between the guitar input and the fx loop send and how can I fix it

go to global settings and set the output to line level (the default is set on instrument level.) I did figure this thing out on myself, I find it odd this isn't clarified. the output of the hx is the input on the fx loop in the amp, this should be line level. you could maybe check using a db meter app on your phone to check if levels are the same, with or without the hx. they should be. correct me if I'm wrong folks.

@@janschepenaar no do not put line level that is meant only for PA systems and front of house, if you use it with your amp you’re pushing too much signal into the amp and will break it. Amps are made just for a normal instrument level signal

Hello, I connected Fender Hotrod with my HX Effect in 4 cable method and and I lost the ability to use volume on amp. It can't go higher or lower volume. The hx effects controls the volume…. Is there a setting that I need to change on the HX effect so that I can use the controls/volume on my Amp? Thanks for any assistance

I am trying to run the 4 cable method with the HX Effects. I have followed the instructions, and also watched this video. Whenever I run the HX effects through the effects loop on my amp, I lose ALL tone shaping control from my amp. Can not adjust volume, mids, high, low.. Is this normal or am I missing something?

@@rockhardrocktrue yes I did. I did not have the send/return routed right within the specific patch I was using.

after severals try, still no answer or comment from LINE6 about this : how to use the 2 guitar imputs of a JC-40 AMP,to get a stereo imput out from HX effects using FX loop. JC-40 : 2 guitar imput (1 channel) JC-40 : 1 FX loop on the back pannel HX effects : 2 FX loops.

this video yadda-yadda'd over a lot here...is the a more comprehensive version that Line 6 has put together?

Can you plug it in straight into a PA?

Jason Aragon The HX effects runs the helix software but only with effects. All amp modeling is contained with the helix floor helix LT and the HX stomp

No mention of the level settings in the loop....!

I setup the global settings so my volume without anything connected of my amp matches the HX when it’s set in 4cm. Now my amp sounds like a waterfall!

It's not difficult man. Does your amp have an fx loop? By using the 4 cable method the Hx Effects doesn't send any drive signals into the fx loop only modulation. If you've ever sent a signal from a delay pedal through the front of your amp combined with a distortion pedal then you'll know how shitty it sounds. The 4 cable method solves this.

@@richardjones2811 ....it was quite an ordeal. for some reason, with this unit, i needed to put it into update mode before i could connect it to line 6 updater and line 6 hx fx edit. once i figured that out (this is not mentioned anywhere in the manual or youtube tutorials - a guy on the gear page figured it out), and restored the factory settings (also weird, given this is a brand new unit). anyway, mystery solved, and i am now seriously bonding with this thing.

You guys really have to make all your videos with that bumping metal music in the background. Totally throws my thought process of trying to figure this shit out. Not all of us are 14 years old. Not to mention the guy's voice is way too monotone and too low in front of the music. Just stop it it's a tutorial not a marketing video
