The Jax stealth mission is literally the only thing I remember about Sons of Anarchy, and Felix got it wrong, it wasn't a deputy and he wasn't "nailing" her, it was the big city FBI agent and he was eating her out, then when she comes she goes "OK, my turn" and blows him So much weirder than he even described

When I watched this show it felt more like an absurd comedy, as though the joke was that Stallone is the self-image of somebody his age who is in fact a geriatric. Unfortunately at no point do we find out that Stallone is a patient in a nursing home having a stroke or something.

@xalrath

paul skallas is one of the least obviously mentally ill guys in the tech-sector-parasites-fetishizing-the-good-old-days ecosystem. he coined the term "lindy" to describe behaviors, physical objects, or beliefs that have been around for a long time, and so are probably going to be around for longer. basically find/replace "lindy" with "trad" and you will be right an easy 95% of the time, including about the kind of guy who gets very into it.

1883 was spectacularly bad and stupid (I had to turn it off) but everything I can find online is people who love it passionately. Taylor Sheridan definitely understands what a certain demographic wants.
I actually put off listening to this until I saw way of water and became Na'vi, and it was prepared for a new mass to be formed here. I would be blue balled if I was not blue already I didn't even know the Hell or High Water guy was responsible for the Stallone western.

So glad Star Wars isn’t a benchmark for me.
I watched the first episode and it was pretty fucking stupid. The very first thing we hear is Stallone in prison saying his mob life was not worth the 25 years he served-- it wasn't even worth five minutes. So, OF COURSE, the *minute* he gets out he immediately dives headfirst back into his role in the mafia, with no hesitation or reflection whatsoever. Then he flies to Tulsa and immediately starts committing assault and battery on people who not only don't alert the police that a criminally insane man is on the loose, they don't even seem to really notice or mind either way.
Troll twist though this is, I get it, they want everyone to see way of water in theaters first before following up with their review. I mean still want the full thoughts later but this is a good treat all things considered. Good on you Chapo.

I watched the first couple seasons of Yellowstone with a family member who ate that shit up and the writing and dialogue were so fucking bad that I had to rewatch Hell or High Water to see if I tricked myself into thinking that movie was great. That movie is still sick but Yellowstone is straight up soap opera levels bad at times. It really is just a poorly made show shamelessly aimed at 40+ year old dudes who desperately want to believe they could be a modern day cowboy if given the shot.

1:02:52 just gotta say, the protection thing makes sense. The point of a protection racket is that the person you pay is protecting you from other criminals, BUT ALSO themselves if you don't pay them. That's the whole reason for the trope "nice ___, be a shame if something happened to it." You pay the protection guy to protect you from them fucking your shit up.

I don't think it makes sense for a legal weed business in the 21st century. We have a fairly militarized police force and the people/companies getting licenses to grow and sell pot in states where it's legal are typically politically connected somehow or wealthy such that they would have already thought of and been able to afford things like cameras and armed security. I would imagine they'd have to demonstrate their security measures to get approved if they're going to have lots of cash and drugs on hand somewhere. I think it'd be very hard to get away with extorting someone's legal business like a classic protection racket in our modern police state.
