Lightbar Highlight: Smith & Wesson
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is a quick demonstration of my Smith & Wesson Lightbar. I don't know why I've always loved this bar, but I do. It's simple, and made by a gun manufacturer... what else do you need?
No lightbar shown in this video are for sale.

The Montana HP version of this bar was pretty neat with red and clear inserts in blue domes to the front.

That’s cool! I love custom jobs on bars like that. Thanks for watching!!
Made by a gun manufacturer, and a lightbar. Sounds like the ultimate American package if you ask me.

Yep, they’ve been around for a while. Quite a few departments used them, but they didn’t last long on the market.
We had one for the Oklahoma City University Security Department which had the white as take downs, blue domes and yellow flashers to the rear. On the Tuttle, Oklahoma and Newcastle, Oklahoma departments a joint traffic enforcement car had red and blue domes and red and blue flashers to the front on opposite domes, with yellow flashers again to the rear.

I like the R/B with opposite flashers... I bet that looked cool!
A gun manufacturer who makes a lightbar ? I think we can't do more American than that. xD

Smith & Wesson exited the emergency light market back in the early 90's Federal Signal bought the rights to the above bar and marketed it for a few years as the Federal "Economaster". S&W also made a pancake style magnetic light for under cover cars that Signal Stat/SVP bought the rights to.

@@shnorth888 They probably wanted to get out of the market of warning lights and sold their rights on their products for that. Thank you for the information. :P

@@shnorth888 I think I actually have a red version of that pancake light, too
Would you believe to this day in 2024 , I still know where there's a set of red and clear. On top of the fire truck looks like band new and work great. Deep in the mountains in north carolina... Sit in the firehouse bet it hadn't been out five times in the last ten years...

Great bar! I heard these things weren't reliable or bright.

I have a red one on display, it's plenty bright with way more juice than a stock alternator puts out.

Not sure about their reliability in-service, as that was well before my time- however they seem to be bright enough. Certainly as bright as any other rotator bar of that era, save the MX7000.

I was thinking of Yankees. I don’t know why I confused this bar for them. It was more of a specific type of Yankee. I know all Yankees aren’t that bad.
Chattanooga Police had these on a bunch of their cars

Its probably the loudest lightbar Ive ever heard.
Do you have any beacons in your collection, or do you only Collect light bars?
@AdamsLights

Great question! I only collect full size lightbars... the beacons and mini bars don't really do it for me :)
Flashing takedowns is a huge advantage.

Do you have a code 3 Excalibur
@AdamsLights
2 жыл бұрын
I don't have any Excalibur's.... however they are the exact same lightbar at the MX7000, the only difference being the lower section is only half the height of the MX. Other than that, the top section is identical.
I am very partial to blue lights, so I do like the blue light bars. But I also like the red and blue combo as well. Looks like a cool hobby. How do you get your hands on one of those these days?

It started by just looking through places like ebay and Craigslist. Then I found DOZENS of Facebook Groups that are dedicated to this hobby.... and the rest is history :)

One in the same.
When S&W exited the lightbar market, Federal Signal bought the rights to this bar and made a few slight improvements and sold it as the FS Economaster.
