Lightbar Highlight: Code 3 MX7000 Custom Flasher

This video is about my Custom MX7000 Flasher bar. I get a lot of questions about this one. As far as I know, there is no jurisdiction or municipality or department that uses a blue/green combination. For those of you who have been long-time subscribers, you might recognize this bar from some of my 2013 videos. Since then, I have changed the bar around quite a bit. In the 2013 video, the bar was red/blue, and the upper level was halogen as well. Here is a link to that video:

I wanted to make a bar that was nothing but flashers, rather than rotators. I got the idea from Sean Sutherland's Edge 9M, that had a ton of random flashers in it, and I liked the look. When I upgraded this bar after the 2013 video, I decided to try out the colored LED bulbs for this bar on the upper deck. So I outfitted this bar with SIX MX7000 rotators, and just disconnected the motor. On the bottom, rather than using the smaller 5-hole reflector/lenses, I used the larger, 6-hole reflector/lenses that are usually used with the Traffic Advisor. All of this is powered by FOUR Code 3 700-series flashers... three 700 units, and one 710 (for the different flash pattern). They all have the steady override hooked up, so I can 'pause' the flashing of the upper or lower level independently.
As you guys know, I really like unique bars. While an MX7000 is certainly not a unique bar by itself, I think the color combination along with the flashing method makes this one a perfectly odd fit for my collection :)

Love it! It's pretty Christmas themed in my honest opinion so it makes sense too. Love the relay sounds too! Once again, great demonstration.

I know this video is old, but just letting you know that the Police in Puerto Rico often use an odd blue/green color combo and is the only place that I am aware of that does.

That looks pretty good, but I can’t help but think it’ll wear the relays out reasonably quickly, if it was to be used on a regular basis

Not sure. There are FOUR different flasher units in there, so the entire load isn't on one unit....So it's really not much different than any other flasher... there are no more than 2 lamps on any single channel.

They are actually pretty easy to find, if you know where and how to look. eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and about a hundred different groups on FB for buying/selling bars.

That’s maybe because of age because I heard I think that people said the lens tend to look green on a blue light bar
who uses green flashlights?? I never saw green lights on a police car or on a ambulance...? did you know who uses them?

I know that green is used for security in some parts of the country, however this was my own made-up lightbar.... a Frankenbar, if you will :)
I just wanna know where u find the rare stuff I have a huge collection close to 600 lights beacons and bars i have a few rare lights but none of my holy grails I've searched all the craigslist ads lightbar forums like elightbars and ebay plus govt auction sites you name it is there some secret place you know of that i dont i mean i would pay anything for a oscillator advantedge or a mars Aurora but in the 20 years I've been collecting I've never found any of them maybe u know some places i dont. I mean I posted an ad on elightbars offering 2500 fir an osc advantedge and no response I posted 5000 for an aurora no response and 2500 fir a whelen delta rotabeam to no avail I'm losing hope.

Honestly, I am using the exact same sources you just mentioned... ELB, Craigslist, etc. I travel a lot for work (pre-COVID), so I look at Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist in every city I visit. I've been able to get a few bars from cities that i've visited for work. It's all about being in the right place at the right time... and I've had dry spells too... I think I probably went 2 years without getting a new bar. I really only have one more bar that I really WANT to addd to my collection.... everything else past that is just for fun. I REALLY want a legit NYPD Aero, but those are hard to find people who want to sell. Just stick with it, you'll find it eventually.
