Lightbar Highlight: Code 3 LP 6000

This is the LP 6000 lightbar, made by Code 3. This bar entered the market in 1983, and served many departments well. When I received this bar, it was outfitted with takedown and alley lights, which I did not want on this particular bar. I removed them, and flipped the domes around so you have the solid colors. (If you look hard enough, you can see the white flash towards the rear of the bar, as the rotators flash through the TD cutouts). The bar was also fitted with the smaller-reflector rotators from a newer MX7000, so I replaced those with the larger rotators that match the large reflector of the flashers. I did keep a single low-profile fast rotator, and mounted it under the speaker housing, with a half-circle amber filter..... just to do something different. Lastly, I added another rotator to each side, and removed the V-shape mirror. I like the different look that layout provides. This light bar reminds me of the one mounted on the Sheriff SUV in GTA San Andreas.

Ha! Ive never played, but it sounds fun!
My old man had one of these on his fire truck squad back in the day... 3 position slide switch would get you rear flash/outer rotators/inner rotators... that was the only lighting on the whole rig!

I really expected to see a reflector in there, not the double rotators, then I saw your description of all the customizing you did. Great job!!

Hah, you didn't say "sue me" in the captions this time like you did in Volume 2! :D Honestly, I think it looks good. Maybe would look better if it had a red/blue filter, but amber to the front isn't too bad!

Haha, good catch! Yeah, you might be right- but Amber is what i had at the time, so I went with it. Plus, I have a split Red/Blue filter in the center section of my MX7000 Strobe- so you know I wouldn't do it again.... gotta keep it fresh ;)
Do the 2 inner flashers rotate at all? Or are they static?

Hey Would you be able to make a video of just the tones fully Looping by any chance? like 3-4 loops of wail and etc. Thanks!

Who uses the light bar below thats green and yellow? I dont know much about lites but my school colors are green n yellow. Im trying to find lights that will work on the school gator. I got some from Amazon n they didn't last long before breaking.

The bar below is a street hawk, hasn’t been made in years. How much are you willing to spend on professional grade lights?

@@MIKES0029 thats the problem. It's a school gator. Id have to spend my own money. Less is better. Then id have to find a friend who could install it. Then after home that the kids don't F with it. I saw some lights from Vivid i liked. They run about $200. The front plastic hood is all cracked. I'd have to use the front 28" or smaller bumper. There is no top to the gator. Vivis has magnetic light strip i could custom order in green & amber (gold is school colors). Just trying to get ppl's attention while i drive cause they walk right in front of me and don't care.

The only people that would use Green/Yellow are some private security companies. I just like the combination, so I decided to go with it. You will see the video of THAT bar coming out in a couple weeks. I can tell you though, you aren't going to get a Streethawk- or any halogen lightbar for that matter- to run on a Gator. You need something LED..... however I will be honest.... If people walk in front of a moving vehicle now- I can assure you that a flashing light isn't going to change that. Thanks for watching!!
