For those not paying attention, the meeting between Raublut and Immanuel is much more sickening than it initially appears. Remember what flowers mean in the temple, and what what temples are often known for. When you connect the dots you'll realize how revolting Immanuel is and why he's one of the more hated minor characters.

I could hear mortal combat “fatality” towards the end there.

The Merchant Saint bit is one of my favorites in all of Part 5. It felt like an evolved form of the stuff that went down in Parts 1 and 2 and felt like great payoff. Something interesting that caught my attention, the royal family expects Ferdinand to be completely fine in out maneuvering Detlinded and Ahrensbach nobles, which means they likely don’t know how skilled Georgine is.

I am not sure the RF even knows who Georgine is beside a name in passing. She is probably the most skilled manipulator in the entire series. If it weren't for certain things (Redacted for spoilers) no one would be able to stop her from getting whatever she wants. Not even Rosemyne and Ferdinand can match her on the field of politics and schemes.

The thing that pissed me off the most about the royals' reaction is how everybody assumed that a war would've started if Sigiswald wasn't going to be the next zent. But if you really think about it, that can only happen because they know it would be Sigiswald himself to start it... not matter what the duchies want, a war wouldn't start if the royal family was united behind whoever was best to be next zent. So if Sigiswald was that dangerous, and the zent truly had the best interests of both the country and his family, he should have either demoted or imprisoned him. That fact that confronting Sigiswald was never even considered, show how basically everyone is indulging in his power tantrums. The time constraints of the assumed magical crisis were also introduced later, the mentality off indulging Sigiswald has always been there.

I find it more funny how they are about to basically hand rosamayne the infinity stone, while patting their own back. Do they not realize just how much power the gremlin is about to obtain? Like they barely has any control over the gremlin now, once she get the power to shape the nation on a whim, the least of their issue is who is going to take the throne. When she could just as easily execute them all because they pissed her off. Like even in a more political point of view, who you think the nobles would support in a war? A family who are royal by name alone? Or the saint who can reduce their duchy to dust, and probably has more mana by her self than the royal family combine.

I assume that a threat exists in conflict amongst the royal families retainers. Sigiswald's faction or whatever probably would not be too pleased with demotion or imprisonment. Perhaps there could be a revolt amongst the sovereignty. Sure, they should be competent enough to control such things, but considering how much trouble Ehrenfest has keeping Rozemyne from being the future aub with the Leisegangs pushing for her, we can infer that political climate does not always come from the individuals wants themselves.

The fact that Raublut was the one suggesting the sovereign temple would get Rozemyne (Ehrenfest's flower) is disturbing on a whole series of levels.

@@daedalron Well, that would be the general assumption among the public due to tradition and lineage, but we do know that nobles sentiments and private politics are often different than what people may think. As the king's third wife from Dunkelfelger whose son is being married down to an aub's consort, she seems to be valuing the current royal family's stability by not trying to increase her position and change her son's fate(at least from what we can see). She may be supportive of Sigiswald for all we know, or she may be working on a plot that she's hiding from Hildebrand because it'd do no good for him to act out of turn.

Rosemyne showing him what a true merchant is was the best in the books. I loved you pointing out how Sylvester and Rosemyne are starting to have a real father daughter time. The next book has a similar tear jerker. Hate what was implied happened to the librarian.

Honestly, i wish we could've seen Ehrenfest grow into their rank. We grow fond of Ehrenfest as the novel goes on. We all want to see them succeed. But it is literally undeniable that Rozemyne IS too skilled for them. They would've had to grow stronger to avoid losing her and they failed.

Only 7 books left?!??? So three for us readers?!?!? I'm devastated by that news. I don't want it to end.

I think we might get some of the afterstory as well.

I feel that saying Rozemyne is 'slow on the uptake' of why to stay away from the Royals is unfair... The story forces her into situations with Royalty every chance it gets. I don't think at any point before this she wanted to be involved with them or had much of a choice. Her only real choice was about 'befriending' Eglantine, who becomes a Royal and gets her involved with the Royalty... And then lies here to Myne about why she can't be the one to get the book.

There is always the Aldophine/Rozemyne combined efforts to squash Sigiswald and move to Ehrenfest and turn it into a library/researchers paradise, we can but hope. ;)

Sadly our gremlin is too nice. The fact that the RF don’t even register the fact that Rosamayne could just go rogue and wipe them off the map once she get the grutrissheit tells you all you need to know. Like the RF do not even register how poor of a position they are in, they will have zero power over her, the second she gets her hand on the power to shape the nation on a whim. Like who do you think the noble is going to back? A family who are royal by name alone? Or the saint who not only can turn their duchy to dust with a thought but also probably out rank the RF’s mana combine.

1:16:49 I am going to push back at TTW on this a bit. Rosemyne is very impulsive, but she is surprisingly calculated in her words and actions. Rosemyne only has probably two things that make her unfit to be Zent (one of which is not her fault but noble culture making it one), but her threating a royal is very a calculated move after recently being betrayed by who she thought was her BFF. The Royals don't care about anyone other than themselves and the country as a whole, if Rosemyne doesn't force them to acknowledge her at least as a threat not to be stepped on casually then BOTH she and Ferdinand would be put down if convenient. Basically a "you don't have to care about me but if you discard or cross me, I WILL either kill you or make you pay an awful lot before you kill me".

@@aasray Rosemyne is too selfish to rule as she couldn't care less about anyone or anything she doesn't personally interact with, and she is far too progressive in her world view. She would compel any conservative noble to start a war to protect their precious traditions. In that essence Rosemyne would cause a massive rift between the noble population she has to keep in line and her stances on equality. That is not something that could change without years of planning and then there is the whole "superiority complex" and the fact that mana is required so she can't just off the noble population since they are needed to keep the country alive. It is really the second one that is the deal breaker.

A little clarification: While Ferdinand is treated like an Ahrensbach citizen in nearly every way and people even refer to him as an Ahrensbach noble and even his citizenship has been brought to Ahrensbach already, he'll only be magically and thus officially registed to his new duchy as part of the wedding. So purely technically (and more importantly magically) he's still of Ehrenfest for the time being. He also wasn't given a purple cape yet, and thus is still useing the ochre Ehrenfest cape Sylvester gave him before his departure. I'm a bit... displeased with the Magdalena comments about Ferdinand. Because it is very obvious, that Ferdinand just didn't even have the chance to teach Detlinde yet from timing alone. He got into Ahrensbach only a very short time before Detlinde went to the royal academy for three months. And in the time between Detlinde's return to Ahrensbach and the events of this volume, Ferdinand was made to travel around Ahrensbach for spring prayer, so I'd estimate their time of potentially being with each other, might be two or three weeks tops. How can she expect Ferdinand to fix in less than a single month, what her parents and retainers messed up over the course of 16 years? And that she "couldn't have known" is a poor argument. From her forcing her way into a royal marriage and everything else we heard and saw about her, we know she's resrouceful and Ahrensbach is the duchy into which her darling son is going to marry. That Detlinde was at the Royal Academy, is just plain obvious and I can't believe that no word of Ferdinand's participation in the spring prayer wouldn't have made it's way around, considering how openly Ahrensbach paraded him through their duchy and how Ehrenfest complained about it to the royal family. This chapter makes her look either stupid, incompetent or ignorant, neither of which lines up with any other of her appearances and descriptions.

While I understand your opinion and agree on your points about Ferdinand I believe you are being too harsh towards Magdalena. Her opinion is clouded by her own experiences with Ferdinand and her information regarding Ahrensbach is practically guaranteed to be far inferior to that of the reader at this time. She knew him from their overlapping time at the Royal Academy and for however short a time was engaged to him. The Ferdinand that the audience sees and even that Rosemyne sees is very much a different man from his academy days. He can put up a noble façade but never actually let anyone in even a little bit and especially towards ladies. Magdalena was probably quite disappointed that the genius ditter strategist and researcher might as well have been a marble statue anytime they had a tea party where one would try to feel out actual feelings and intentions, pretty to look at and just as dense and unfeeling as stone. Referring to keeping Detlinde in check the royal family, especially Magdalena, expected for their royal decree to have signifactly weight and make Ferdinand the central player within Ahrensbach politics. Any sources of information that Magdalena is likely to have is from within Letizia's faction due to her family being from Drewanchel and Dunkelfelger would likely have more bonds and connections with them than Georgine's faction. The scholars that worked for and with the previous Aub Ahrensbach respect and are appreciative of Ferdinand and are the most likely sources for the royal family but that does not constitute political influence or at least the influence to be able to bring Detlinde to heel. That Georgine prefers to have Detlinde as an ignorant pawn in her machinations is something I am sure we probably agree on and Ferdinand does not fight battles he can not win, notwithstanding his issue with dealing with her due to her mirror resemblance to Veronica.

@@southernbookworm2654 I don't have a problem with Magdalena not liking Ferdinand, I have a problem with her expecting him to do the nearly impossible in a matter of days, after being thrown into another duchy without any support base. Even if somehow the very skilled and intelligent Magdalena doesn't have a single source of information within Ahrensbach (which I very much doubt to be the case), she still definitely knows that Detlinde, as a 6th year student, spent her winter at the Royal Academy. And she would also know, that Detlinde, as the interim Aub, has to dye their foundation, which would further cut into the time Ferdinand had to educate and control her. The kind of results she expects here, are more like something that is built over multiple months or even years, and yet she holds it against Ferdinand, that he did not accomplish it in a matter of days or at most weeks.

A bit of spoilers below (of currently available LN volumes in english). Emotionally as a human I agree that Ferdinand was not realistically able to change Deltinde's ways . But on the other hand he is a noble, more than that he is THE most capable noble in Jurgenschmidt right now. At least from the narrative point of view he is capable of such feat, he could have abused her rose-tinted glasses on his "eternal love" to her to straighten her somewhat or at least tear her from Georgine's control. And Magdalena knows it firsthand so she is not wrong to assume that. Moreover Ferdinand himself admited (in an internal monologue) that he could have done that (or at least attempted it) but chose not to cause it felt revolting to him. So he chose to be an enemy to Deltinde and get rid of her instead of getting her to his side and using her.

@@MSDoL I know Ferdinand is exceptionally competent, and that there's very little he can't do, if he puts his mind to it, but even so he can't do everything instantly. I just don't see any way he could get his claws into Detlinde in such a short timeframe. There's also the issue of him being swamped with paperwork. A part of me wants to say that this is something Magdalena might not have known about, but at the same time, he was supposed to help govern the duchy, so it should be something Magdalena should be able to deduce to some extend, even if she didn't know for certain. Also Ferdinand was teaching Letizia, and considering that she is the future wife of Magdalena's only child, I really can not believe she wouldn't be aware of this. Maybe I'm just overthinking it and Detlinde just pissed Magdalena off so badly, she couldn't contain her emotions and was just venting, rather than truly examining all she knows calmly, but even so it irks me.

Most of those stories are already written (they are the ToBooks Sales bonus chapters from P5v5 to P5v12, there are already unofficial MTL translation of them), they will also likely add some of the webnovel SS to it to complete the book (those would need to be rewritten for LN). There are also 8 fanbooks, not 7. Fanbook 8 was released in november 2023 in Japan. RAS2, however, is different in that none of those stories are written. And considering the author is planned to release the spinoff in LN form this year, I'm not sure a RAS2 is in the plans...

Don't freak out for Rozemyne just casually threatening to kill Sigiswald, Sylvester. I mean, these idiots of the RF need to understand, at last, that status has no value as a bulletproof vest ; if they could understand that, they will have a chance to becoming smarter and actively try to improve their skills and ability to subtlety, and the Gods know how they need that.

"It looks like he is making a book. I wonder what book that may be?" The funniest part is how he acquired the knowledge to complete such a book.

The Merchant Saint chapter is one of my favorite chapters in the series. Rozemyne was downright disrespectful to royalty and I loved it. Also less blatantly expressed in the book, but still disrespectful to royalty is Hartmut. If you’ve read these novels, you can imagine the energy that was put forth when he suggested Hildebrand join the Temple. I imagined him being smug and sarcastic. Insight spoiler: Hartmut is crazy and obsessive, but also ride or die. In the academy he was a brilliant scholar, a charmer of ladies, and great at information gathering. He was good enough for Ferdinand to want to poach. Given his skill set, Rozemyne obsession, and the amount of time spent at the temple, how much information do you think he knows about Rozemyne? Still has her back though.🤷🏾‍♀️

He was just some bored rich kid-basically a 1-percenter who’s dad worked for ruling party of his land. He was raised to believe commoners were barely people. Now he’s embracing commoners and orphans and speaking to royalty like they’re stupid. That is a truly impressive turnaround.

If it was not just a silver color cloth, but a REAL silver cloth, then it was an error from the anime adaptation. Silver cloth did not appear in Yurgenschmidt before Rozemyne's 3rd year at the RA (or maybe the Fall before her 3rd year) We know Lanzenave was not involved in the plot before Georgine sent them the letter, and that letter was after the investigation done due to the ternisbefallen attack during Rozemyne's second year.

I keep forgetting that Rozemyne is not a child. She is a full-grown woman in a child's body. Veiled threats? These royals haven't seen anything yet.

If they both got it Klassenberg would endorse Egg as a Zent Regent at the very least and have Stupidswald put to death with Hild adopted as her heir apparent, securing Dunks’ backing. If they pardoned Adolphine, had her marry Ferdinand and made him Aub Ahrensbach as 2nd wife (because punishment by association seems to HAVE to happen) it would secure Drew’s backing in thanks for that mercy and Ehrenfest’s because Myne wants Ferdi protected better. No war would happen before the requisite executions if ANYONE HAD A BRAIN.

Thanks for these reviews as always Trash-Tier. One idea you brought up that I would like to push back against is about the royals apathy for others plight in regards to Eglantine at least. As much as I was frustrated with her almost heel turn upon my initial read and can understand the souring opinion of her by many fans, upon rereading and hearing even harsher opinions than my own I have come to a different opinion. Rosemyne is not an omniscient narrator and her judgement of others is not universally on the mark though I would not describe her as a terrible judge of character. She is quite angry at Eglantine and Anastasius and I believe it is clouding her judgement on their actions. While they are choosing a path that uses Rosemyne for their own ends and ignoring the issues it creates for Rosemyne and Ehrenfest I believe it is a painful decision for them and made out of desperation. Eglantine and Anastasius obviously discussed how they would go about getting Rosemyne to the shrines. Anastasius was purposely playing bad cop in a manner that would get a chastisement from Eglantine normally but she was hiding behind her noble façade, though Rosemyne sees it as looking at a unruly child I believe she is off in this view. The harshest part is I think Anastasius and Eglantine acted correctly from the information we can infer of their situation. If Eglantine is the only current royal that is capable of circling the shrines and obtaining the Grutrissheit another civil war would follow. Even with Anastasius' assurances that he is not competing for the throne any longer and constantly acting like his brother's retainer Sigiswald still suspects him as we saw from the side story. Sigiswald does not see the Grutrissheit as the sign of zenthood that the king, Magdalena, Adolphine, and others see it as. He would absolutely try to gather support and push a new civil war if he is not put inside a Ivory Tower or climbs the towering staircase. As someone who has grown up with him Anastasius probably knows this and with that knowledge pushes Rosemyne into the fray for lack of a better option. Eglantine with all her remaining trauma from the night her family was murdered and home ransacked chooses to push Rosemyne into the shrines not because she does not care for her and is not grateful for Rosemyne being the one responsible for the happiness she was currently enjoying but because the fear of a new civil war is greater than her desire to shelter Rosemyne. That both Anastasius and Eglantine choose to in some ways sacrifice Rosemyne does not mean they do not hold gratitude to her for being the one to bring them together, it just means that the idea of another civil war is a worse option and they can not think of another way out of their predicament, especially with the time crunch of foundations collapsing.

@@MSDoL I read the novels through kindle and do not have access to pre pub so I have only read through P5V9 at this time. Have to wait till May 15 to read P5V10 if I am wrong oh well I thought I had a pretty good handle on the moral character of most of the cast but there are still many mysteries and motivations to uncover in the next 3 books I am sure.

Saying Rozemyne marrying Sigiswald will prevent war isn't really accurate, that's just buying the royal lovebirds sophistry. Preventing a war is the royals duty in the first place, but it's not as if Anastasius and Eglantine bothered to even talk to Sigiswald. But, well, preventing a war obviously isn't their primary goal, what their grotesque plan actually can do isn't even saving Yurgenschmidt, just buying a little time, thus they can have only one priority... keeping their undue status for themselves, that's what marrying Rozemyne to Sigiswald can achieve, the only goal for what this marriage must be.

Woah, this volume's content came as a huge shock. I never expected that we'd go from she doesn't want to be the next Aub Ehrenfest straight to 'Yeah, she's the next Zent!'

Seeing the anime backgrounds when talking about the silver cloth reminded me of one of the last episodes of season 3. When the High Bishop Bezewanst pulled out the God of Darkness feystone, it was wrapped in a glossy looking silver cloth, and once it was off the feystone, it began sucking up mana. I reread the LN P2V4 and I didn't see this descriptor. Was the anime foreshadowing Bezewanst's connection to Georgine and her connection to Lanzenave years in advance?

I love the "having to wait" however one a month is starting to kill me lol

Should we talk about how insane it was that our gremlin filled 6 tablet in one go, while a arch-duchess Candidate from the first rank duchy/royal had to tap out after failing to do one. To say our gremlin’s mana pool is large is a insane understatement. P.S for those who go “but she had to stop due to (redacted for spoiler).” She drain herself then has to drink a potion before she was stopped. Our gremlin? Six tablet down, not a drop of potion

I just realized something. Why couldn’t they just temporarily end the adoption, readopt her to the noble family just long enough to get the Book and give it to them only to then again end her adoption and readopt her back? No major hands have to switch and everyone gets what they want.

P5V12 is the last one. P5V11 is the one that's currently being translated... and it's almost half done.

P5V12 should end translation around august-september, then release in digital format about a month later.

New sections are released on Jnovel on Monday as well... Do you synchronize with them on purpose, or is it a coincidence?

Did you finish all 33 volumes already? I’ve been watching ealier LN reviews and there were some spoilery stuff, so I’m waiting for all 33 volumes to be translated first, read them and finishing these reviews. But if you’re only up to vol30, then I’m good to binge your content.

@@napriki he sometimes jokingly hints at stuff. Which is not really bad, but I really don’t want to know anything about the remaining volumes before I read them. I evenskipped cover image and illustration along with the page of contents xd

I think that if myne helps the king or one of the prince's they would give ehrenfest some of the duchy land that was from the former duchy of zausengas because that would be a very 'nice thing for ehrenfest

Didnt Hildebrands mom tell him to chase his dreams no matter what earlier? When she knows its Myne she changes her mind? Why?

In the first, she is encouraging him to grow into a fine young man/prince; in the second, there is shielding her still very young son from possible catastrophe. A bit like encouraging him to go play outside, but not letting him near the cobra den.

Something that is never brought up in the text: I would think Drewanchel would have a real problem with an adoption being dissolved to send someone to the Sovreignty, even if it is Rozemyne, and even if it is to become a royal. Weird that it doesn't come up.

@@AnimeMe40 From Magdalena's SS, we know he clearly was not treating her that well, or at least Magdalena was able to see through Ferdinand's BS and knew what he really was thinking. Her issue with him is not ditter, but his personality. Her talking about Ferdinand: "From afar, he would appear to be the perfect man. He can negotiate, manipulate factions, and devise plots so malicious that nobody would wonder why he is called the Lord of Evil… but that is all. He is an emotionless husk of a man, incapable of engaging with others on a personal level."
