Lifting and hauling a Silo

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This silo was too tall to put on our landoll trailer or roll bed so we had to take it in two pieces. The entire thing is 14’ 6” tall so we would be over 18 feet tall on a roll bed. In case you were wondering why he had us haul it, he needed this moved because he sold the property and he needed it off the property. Enjoy the video!

    Good job, top half went back on easier than I thought it would. Anyway you move these things and they are intact when they get there is a good way. Never try to second guess why a person wants things done. If the money is good just take the check to the bank.

    My Grandpa and dad moved one like this. They braced the inside with 2x4s and used a tractor with loader to prop a lowboy trailer up to it. Put chains and binders around the bin to the trailer and tilted the trailer back down with the loader. Reversed everything at the other farm it went to. Worked great

    As much as I admire Ron's experience and the respect her shows everybody, I have to agree with you. I believe that he would have done it the same, unless he wanted to show off his new drop deck. But I don't think he would have bootlegged it without permits lol.

    Dustin this is why your channel is tops in the rotator area. You can't make this stuff up, awesome idea to use the tire and rim. Where did that idea come from, another great job and team work. You all work so good together bouncing ideas back and forth. Great stuff. Take care and be safe. Oh if it was hot out it may been a different story inside the grain bin. Lol

    My dad bought a used one when I was a kid, it was disassembled and showed up in pieces. Thousands of bolts later with a socket speed wrench (late 80's no battery tools yet) we finally had it together. This looks easier. I was a little skeptical about the 2 parts going back together and thought it would have been tougher getting them to line up.

    That is one little grain bin. Tractor and loader with telephone pole and a Donahue trailer would move that

    Does Michael ever lift more than the controller? Lol. Seriously just joking. As a frequent commenter, you know I have much respect for you guys and admire your work and personal values and I believe I hear faith in these as well. Just a question though, next time you move a bottom half, couldn't you use the spreader bar so I doesn't collapse the sides (as much)? I know those are heavy and suck to use but would it work? I like videos where they're used personally. Good teamwork guys. Til next time....

    You’re exactly right, the spreader bars are just more work and time than it was worth doing on this job. And yes we are Christians 😊👍🏻

    What you needed was some pipes as long as the diameter of the silo. Like the Egyptians.

  • @dmac5994

    you mentioned doing this fairly often, would it be worth it to just take some steel in same circumference of the rim/tire with eye bolt centered so you would not need to mess with dual chains?

  • @CountryEquipmentRentals

    D Mac we don’t so this often at all, I think I said we’ve done a few of these in the past. And the chain things works pretty easily, but that’s not a bad idea

    @@CountryEquipmentRentals ah I misconstrued your info then, but yeah if you expect to do more it may be safer for you. pretty sure no osha regulation addresses it LOL edit: thinking out loud just a small section of thick steel welded/bolted across existing rims then eye bolt (or clevis prob stronger) would do same thing, cost less as you have the rims/tires already, and give some rubber grip on edges.

  • @CountryEquipmentRentals

    @CountryEquipmentRentals

    We thought of that, to be honest it was just as easy without one, and the spreader takes more time and set up and it just wasn’t worth the time
