Lifecasting Tutorial: Group Hand Cast With Genesis V Alginate

Important! Genesis V is no longer available. 590 may also be used for this process.
In this tutorial we mold three hands interlocked to form a triangle. This type of hand cast is popular for families and friends in groups of 2 or more subjects. We used our Genesis V alginate for this cast as it allows for a 5 minute working time with 70 degree water. This is a somewhat advanced cast so I recommend doing a smaller, more traditional cast before embarking on this cast.

would a vibrating table help with bubbles?
would it help to create some form of barrier, say with clay, to prevent the alginate from oozing and to give a crisp edge?

can you use this for any molding of of body parts???

Do you need to shave arm/hand hair off before casting?

No. Unless you are molding a beard, most fine body hair does not need release. As mentioned in the video, most hand casts require minimal release, such as hand lotion, and that is mainly a precaution for molding dry skin.
