Well if there is 3 big software suits used in schools that he needs to make this implemented to, those softwaremakers has to offer him a deal for him to get the APIs necessary to start the implementation if it's propriarity software, if that is what says that those companies doesn't want make this product themself or sell API together with the concert itself to a bigger company.?

@@anderspersson7084 You are assuming that those software products need to interact with each other. What if his software expanded and offered those functionalities as well? That's the best direction to take, as there's little chance for an API from any of them.

People are right, this does already exist but from my experience still requires some sort of user input that isn't voice activated. Also, not speech to text applications are built equally. Accents, dialects, different languages, etc.

Am I the only one that feels like the expressions held by the other dragons at the end of the video suggests that they're all annoyed touker invested because they'd planned on stealing this guy's idea..

His word recognition system was very accurate. He could license it to KZread for use on their video subtitles.

He truly is a teacher at heart, he gave himself a grade at the end 😆👍

This is a great example that shows business doesn't have to be overly complicated, or cutting edge, or the next Facebook. Simple idea, packaged well, sold to those who need it, sorted. He seems a nice bloke - I hope his business is a success.

How did he not accept the offer by printing a label saying: "I will accept your offer" missed golden opportunity

I just looked up the company and they didnt go through with the deal: JH: I have had a lot of great support from Touker but we decided to part ways and not go through with the investment. It was something that I started on my own and I really wanted to maintain control in steering the company in the direction I knew it should go! We have gained a huge amount of awareness from schools and our user base has grown almost 20 fold which is fantastic.

Good to hear that he was able to grow the business without giving a big chunk of it away. I thought that 30-35% for £20,000 was WAY too much considering the company was already making £100k net. Assuming no further growth at all, Touker would get his money back in less than 1 year. Something along the lines of 10% would be fair.

This is actually a really good piece of technology and this could go much further than just schools too. How 4 of them went out so early amazes me I’d be investing in that asap and getting people interested very quickly.

As a former teacher in South Korea, I think this is an incredible idea!

Bro he wanted to be equal partners in the venture. If anything it was greedy of the teacher to ask for 25% and considering Touker dropped down to 30% was actually really generous considering the state (or lack of) the product / business. The only thing teacher did here was think about printing voice recognition to help in curriculum. Teacher had only a few schools in his book and if it was doing so well wouldn't have the trouble hiring a couple of developers to refine his software. Touker on the other hand has connections into all the major spots and was willing to work on the business hence the 50% offer. For 35% provides only an average incentive for him to actually get the product into all the major supply chains. It's like what do you want? Equal partnership and having the shark investor actually do half of the work for you *(so you have more time to teach)* Or 30% and having the shark investor adopt a more advisory role. I would've chosen the 50%. Sometimes you gotta make things interesting for the other person to get on board with your project. You don't make it interesting you're not getting as much involvement. If you're only giving 5% then don't expect to be treated anything more than a side revenue for the investor. That's assuming a fair and invested partnership. Which in this case it seemed to be so.

I've used voice-to-text before (as software, or putting it into apps). I've also set up a label printer for someone with no prior knowledge, and that took literally less than 10mins. So both together would be really easy. It's just freaking text to a printer lol.

I can’t count how many times we spent half of our lessons at school with the teacher just trying to get the projector to work. I cannot imagine many who would easily set up a voice to text software and label printer but would be responsive if someone else did it and gave it to them ready to go! They sell sliced bread. We can all slice bread ourselves, we can all make our own clothes in theory, we can all in theory cook food but we still get sliced bread and buy clothes and get take outs. Sometimes convenience is worth paying for

Damn this guy was on-point with his presentation. Confident and thorough pitch, and he knew his numbers pretty well. It's unfortunate that his product didn't live up to that hype. I'm really glad he accepted Touker's revised offer; also I hate the editor for cutting out the part where he mentioned his officers wtf
