This piece has given me the feeling of 3 different types of love. The first is a shy crush, where the person loves someone else but is nervous to do anything, the second is a passionate dream where they get to feel all of their emotions at full, and the last is a sentimental old person, who has experienced life and is now looking back on the times and experiences.

I see this piece as someone madly in love with someone but no way to express it. They spend so much time together, and they know how the other feels, but it's never the right time. And first cadenza is like someone falling into a painful dream. The 2nd part is a world where they both truely are together. Their suffering and pain and joy all melt into this beautiful passionate structure. And then you wake up peacefully with the 2nd cadenza, and the Ab major comes back. Ab major kinda symbolises the actual world. They wake up and realise nothing has changed, they go through their lives like normal knowing very well anything that happened in the dream would ever happy. That's the bigger sweet diminished part of the piece. And it finally ends in some hope, and some chance.

The poem "O lieb solang du lieben kannst" (Oh love so long as love you can) was actually the basis for one of Liszt's earlier vocal works (which Liebestraum no. 3 is based off of). The lyrics are something along the line of appreciating each other and loving while you can because there will come a day where you cant. Essentially the piece is living the reality of a lost love, entering a dream where you are with your loved one once again, and then returning back to reality, without the loved one- quite close to your interpretation. I especially feel like at the end it's a subtle reminder of your loved ones love for you, even after death, a reminder that they're watching you every day from above.

You have to love his captions. There are a lot of people who are better virtuosos and while perhaps we get the low-level patterns I love that he explains the high-level overview of the music he plays. Such understanding only comes being in a field for a long time. It applies for my field of expertise as well as probably most others. It's kind as if I'm cheating and have access to a greater understanding without having put in the work. Great stuff, love it.

I see this video again and again on my recommended and each time I see it, I click it and then just really want to play this piece! I will continue to use this video as I learn the piece! The amount of motion that was captured in your playing of this piece was just absolutely amazing. I cannot describe how much I love this, and hopefully I can play like this once I finish learning the song.

@@sharp9150so you have basically learnt the hardest part of the piece. The second cadenza should be easier than the first one. And also all the jumps are very hard, if you can do that without mistakes, then you should definitely be able to finish the piece.

I’m working on it right now and suffering haha :,) praying I’ll keep up my motivation to learn this and be able to sleep play it well someday soon
One of the best Liszt pieces ever. It's just.... Beatifull 😌
Honestly I think this is my favourite interpretation. The emotion and smoothness you put into the piece was flawless, loved it!
oh, my favorite piece of all time. your playing is absolutely breath taking. the light arpeggios that compliment the bold melodies are just.. beautiful. the build up is perfect. id say one of the best interpretations of this piece. highly impressive man.
he neeeeds more recognition, he is an incredible pianist, i showed my parents russeo play it and then put this on and they said wow he is soo much better
I always find your playing to be so amazing that I watch your videos several times a week for inspiration and whenever im practicing. I just don't enjoy watching other KZreadrs' performances as much as I do yours. Good work! I genuinely admire you!
Out of all Liszt's piano works this one is my favorite. Thank you for playing.
Happy new year! Thanks for inspiring me and many other pianists to play great pieces like this one! Lovely playingg :)

happy new year to ya too! :D
You couldn't describe it better, such a beautiful piece
Every time i hear this song, i can't hold back my tears especially when entering the second part. Reminds me of how hard it is to fight for my family's happiness and how happy it is to see their smiles. This piece seems to make my love even deeper. My favourite piece of liszt, and thank you for playing it so beautifully.
jezusssss that was amazing, so much sound but you can still clearly hear all the layers like a group of musicians playing. Great work 💖
素敵な演奏をありがとうございました♪😢こんなふうに愛する人へ演奏を贈りたい…
this piece is absolutely one of my favorites from liszt, and you managed to play it with such intensity of emotions its almost like i'm hearing for the first time again
Bro the ending caught me off guard 💀
Every time I listen to these compositions I'm more and more in awe of how the absolute fuck they manage to compose music this majestic, complex yet not disturbing
Amazing performance... One of the best I've ever heard. 😮 Thanks a lot.
I used to only like this piece, but after hearing you play it I LOVE this piece ♥️
I'm learning this piece now, (been working for 2 weeks, a bit past the first cadenza!) your recording, especially the subtitles, helped me know how to phrase parts. Especially, around what is 0:50 in this video, where the key changes a lot, quickly to build tension I was having trouble with how to best build tension and this video helped a lot! I see this video again and again on my recommended and each time I see it, I click it and then just really want to play this piece! I will continue to use this video as I learn the piece! This is the first piece I've tried by Liszt (been playing around 5-6 years, started in 2nd grade, now I' m in 7th!) and just the way you play this so beautifully has helped me push through frustration that was learning the first cadenza, and how to really make this sound amazing! Thank you so much!

as goofy as you may be, you still play beautifully and that's why we madly love ur channel
dude, you play so good and I need to write down for you. I heard so many times, and see some pianists played this piece. Some of them perform it not good and I couldn't feel it right way. But you do, I can see the dream, I can feel the emotion when you playing. I just want you to know you was playing this one very beautiful. Sorry if my English isn't influenced ^^
1:52-1:57 ooh i like that scrumptious phrasing
I’ve only recently discovered your channel, but I love your videos! As somebody who isn’t quite a musician but adores piano music (especially Liszt I’m not immune lol), your commentary really helps to give me a more technical explanation to the magic behind the pieces you play, and helps me appreciate the emotions they convey even more. I hope 2023 treats you well :-) 🎆🌟 wishing you the best!
Brought a tear to my eye A testament to your and Liszt's prowess
This is the version of the piece I’ll listen too because of how much emotion and just raw ability you make the piano🫶
I forgot how much I loved this piece, and I aspire to learn it one day. Thank you for playing it for my ears to hear again.
I would love to see Liszt watching this video just because of the text below. On the other hand, congratulations!
Since Lang Lang no one ever has played it with that much emotional spac, i know this cause ive lisztened to every existing interpretation in order to pass my musical school exam, to played as good as i can, but you just give so wide room to spread. Very inspirational

You've really been playing all of my repertoire 😄 Each time a new post comes up, I'm like wow another one that I happen to have played 😄 Loved your interpretation and the commentary was great, as always! ♥️
i cant tell if my eyes are baked or if im genuinely crying
this is so beautiful! your comments make this fun to watch as well as listen to, and your description of the last part combined with the music made me really sentimental :) thanks!
I believe you are offering unique content. It’s not often you find a person playing really well, along with the form of the piece, and adding the score as well. Thank you, much appreciated. 🙏🏾
Very good playing!! I'm also on a journey to explore more classical piano repertoire as I recently fell into the classical music hole. I can't wait to hear your rendition of Kreisler's Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow) arranged by Rachmaninoff. This piece has been really memorable ever since I first heard of it in YLIA which was also an anime which got me into classical music as well

One of my favorite songs by Lizst, i thought you had made one before, but turns out you haven't made one until now, thank you very much this is a great cover , it goes so hard 🗿
Not a musician but love piano and your explanations show me deeper understanding and appreciation of the musical piece.
I cannot get over how good this content is. Beautifully played and the context provided to the piece really makes it come to life.
Lovely to hear this - one of my grandfather’s favourites - I hear echoes of him in your playing ❤

Wonderful!!! I a-dore! your playing. Your comments add humor and instruction too.🤩😍
Quite lovely. The piano playing as well. The comments and score are a great touch.
I have this beautiful piece as my alarm sound and wake up to it every morning. This is easily the best interpretation of it I have ever heard. Wow. Thank you :)
This peice feels like a journey everytime I listen to it. It's like, it started with a crush due to the beauty and alluring sound. It then transformed in love creating a comfort zone and the third one (personal favourite) is desperation.
I love your channel and your play brings out so much of the original of each work. You are so inspiring and talented, thank you for what you do!
I recently got into classical music and it’s the one best things I have ever done! This piece in particular is my favorite so far but then again I love all the pieces I have heard from Liszt so far! Wonderful playing!!
I love your interpretation and playing so much. Wishing you a happy late new year and I’ll be waiting for more pieces from you.
I love how you tell the piece and your touch is so particular, wow, that's a really great interpretetion
The three Liebestraume are some of my favourite pieces ever. No matter who plays it, listening to the third makes me cry every single time. Even you playing it made me tear up. It's such a beautiful piece. Damn.
Lovely as always with entertaining commentary. Your videos always captivate me.
Beautiful! I just subscribed and I have no idea why you only have 141k subs. Good luck!
I’m not sure why but this is my absolute favorite version of this piece, the highs and lows are perfect and the emotion that you bring out isn’t his piece is astounding, thank you so much! I dream one day of being able to work my way up to learning this piece. Your videos in general always give me motivation to get up and commit to a long practice session on my piano. ❤
It just looks so elegant! Good work!
Despite this piece being played in every corner, this performance made me fall in love with it. A special thank you for the comments, they really helped me as an uncultured peasant to navigate through the piece and decipher what Liszt wanted to say through these melodies.
this gave me goosbumps. you played it near perfectly! nice work. as a pianist myself, I understand the work needed to put into the piano, and it's clear you work hard to play.
Such a great performance, sounds beautiful 👏

Amazing job as always! I’d love to see a video like these with commentary for Liszt’s Un Sospiro Etude. For me that’s peak Liszt writing piano pieces that are both incredibly beautiful in a calm romantic melodic way and insanely difficult.
