Hi Ladder man, one or two questions. What is the definition of "world Grand Prix" as you say? Is it a term attached to a motorsport body or period of Grand Prix racing? If not Denny Hulme won 8 Grand Prix including the 1967 championship. Please understand I love your little attic brain moments. I find them charming and informative. And a a fellow F1 nut I thought you would not mind my correction if it applies to this video? lol that makes a 3rd question, sorry about that! 😅

the reason indycar sucks is because every race has 30 drivers. Keep it at 10. there will always be good drivers on the outside looking in. This is a feature not a bug

@@FaceFish9 Their goal is to provide a reliable path through junior formulas for Americans that doesn't involve leaving home at the age of 12 to race in Europe for European teams. They certainly would like to field at least one American. But if Herta doesn't win Indy then he doesn't get a super license so they would probably take 2 non Americans (unless they signed Sargeant)

No, Logan needs a chance to grow with the team. Lawson or Antonelli need to replace Charles. Top tier team and car and has not delivered the top prize. He's been on the grid too long. If you've been on the grid for over four years and haven't gotten a WDC the driver should be replaced with a younger driver.

@@sandratracy1378 Only reason Charles hasn't won a championship is because of Ferrari. If every driver who has had decent experience in f1 suddenly had to left except for in one team, the team with experienced drivers would dominate the rookies. Competitive teams need to stay competitive, thats why junior teams exist.

It is all going down. Total chaos is going to happen. Like Carlos without a seat, max to Mercedes, Liam at redbull, Logan is gonna win a race, give me the chaos. Really tho, I have lost the overview about what’s going on

It's either total chaos, or LITERALLY NOTHING INTERESTING. Like it could very well just be Lewis and Sainz swapping, Hulk swapping, Bearman in, and Kimi displacing Logan because they do my boy dirty.

I am a Rally fan, I have almost no clue about F1. This channel helps with getting an understanding with the inner workings. Some good content here.

@@focofox37I could be wrong but I think that’s the one thing missing from Rally content. There are a lot of informative videos but outside of DirtFish, there aren’t many if any channels like this for Rally. It’s more of an addition to other car content for some channels.

@@BearlyBearrrI have to agree with Sebastian Ogier, it’s basically participation points and like he said makes it confusing on who actually won or has the lead in points until everyone is completely done for the day. In an attempt to push teams to go harder they just muddied the waters and frustrated the entire lineup.

If only there were more teams in F1 that could give these younger drivers a chance to grow and experience F1. If only F1 would actually be forced to accept their own rules instead of making up subjective decisions and moving goal posts.

In the old days F1 drivers would commonly debut in their mid-late 20s and retire by their mid-late 30s, meaning there was a regular churn of new talent coming in and going out. Now drivers are routinely debuting in their teens and it's increasingly common for them to stay into their 40s as seen by Raikkonen, Alonso and Hamilton. That means seats could get locked out for DECADES.

THE SOLUTION IS REALLY OBVIOUS - there should be a substitution rule where a driver get subbed twice a year allowing a rookie to race. This would mean all reserve drivers get at least 2 races a season

@dylan8389 why terrible? Drivers like Stroll, Perez, Magnussen, Ricciardo out for a couple of races to let some real talent in. It seems good to me. It works with football, if a player isn't performing they get subbed.

In the mean time teams lose out on constructor points? Fact is - Pourchaire - Drugovic - Lawson and Vesti all could potentially out perform the likes of Zhou - Magnussen - Perez - Stroll - Ricciardo - Sargeant and Bottas.

To be fair, the Imola circuit is in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, not in San Marino, naming it the San Marino GP is like calling Spa the Luxembourg GP

Yuki is out performing Daniel. So it should be Yuki to Redbull. Liam into VCARB - that may save Daniel for another year. Perez is on the one hand too slow to maintain the number 2 spot, but Redbull also sell more than half their gear in Mexico ( Almost 65% of all online Red Bull F1 merchandise is sold to Mexico - from a quick google)

Lawson's management is doing a good job. Too often good talents are forgotten about when a year not in the spotlight. They make sure Lawson isn't forgotten. Keep the rumours coming and he will get airtime and be picked up by the cameras.

Letting the f2 champion stay in the championship would make the whole ladder to f1 pointless. If you can get stuck in a series and win it multiple times then why would the teams get new drivers from f3 when they can have experienced champions? F1 simply needs more teams

Red Bull has four seats for five drivers (six if you include Carlos Sainz). Someone’s going to be pulling the short stick in this, and Liam not having a hat to throw into the ring makes it difficult for him.

As an Aussie, I'd love to see Liam driving in F1 full time. I remember the battles he had in f2. But I also don't know how I'd feel about it if it came at the expense of Daniel. Just like with Oscar and McLaren. But that worked out to be good for both parties. (So far anyway).

Side note, I bet Yuki would see that as high praise, that he's the Gasly of his team.

Liberty Management made the right decision in not letting Andretti in. They do nothing to expand the F1 brand. We also don't see them in F2, F3 or F1 Academy. Bringing Andretti in would be a mistake. They would be better to bring in a Chinese team. That would blow the value of Andretti out of the water. Personally I favour a Rodin/China tie up as being far far far more valuable to the sport, F1, and the fans. Andretti just seems to be a self interest thing.

It's quite interesting seeing how Redbull seems to be doing everything perfect on track, yet pretty much self destructing from within. Other teams needed rule changes to lose dominance, Rb might bring thekr own doom if they're not careful.

What I like most about this channel is that I live in Law's attic and he brings me F1 news every now and then. It's wonderful. 😂

I think there was a problem with Riccardo's original chassis. I expected Iwasa to be half a second off Yuki. He's a Superformula driver, which says a lot for him. If Red Bull decide or are forced to sell Racing Bulls they'll want all the points they can get

As a New Zealander who watches and reads local sports news, this is the first I am hearing about this rumour. If it is NZ media, i don't think its one of the big outlets.

Without Ricciardo''s years of experience helping with development and setup of the RB car. Yuki and the team would not have half the points they currently have. RB team managers must have gotten this info threw to the upper management. Plus the Sales and personality of Riccardo is why Visa and Cash app signed of for this team. Sorry Liam the F1 game is not just about driving well in this part of the field. A driver has to bring money and/or sponsorships with him to be the whole package. Plus there may be a good chance Yuki goes to Aston Martin in 2026 or maybe even next year. So RB may be waiting to see if this move happens and Lawson may be in Yuki's seat next year or in 2026!

No team is going to want him (he is not even f2 champion), mercedes wants to bring in antonelli, ferrrari want to bring in bearman plus carlos sainz is out of a seat. he'll have to go to wec or indycar like all the other f2 drivers

It's rather dark that a driver either cost a team with a million dollar damage or death is the main system of driver removal.

I understand that and the logic is there but the promise shouldn't have been made in the first place. All it's done is anger Lawson's team and they could easily lose a valuable youngster should any of their current drivers retire/leave.

Liam needs to find another team asap. Redbull is wasting that kid's talent in favor of a finished aussie marketing asset that happens to be a driver

Am I the only one that thinks it's quite odd that Lance stroll hasn't had his contract extended? If Aston Martin seriously want to be competitive they need to get a better second driver, potentially if Lawson wants to get into the sport really badly Aston Martin could sign him. Sainz could also be a prospect for Aston Martin, however he's getting a huge deal from Audi.

Lance doesn't need a contract as long as Papa is running things.

With the amount of change that's bound to happen between this year and next, if Liam isn't on the grid, it's his own fault for not playing ball with the other teams.

I watched the 14th Historic cars Monaco GP this weekend, memories, memories, memories. It was trully grand ! Great video again, I do think the F1 "format" is difficult one considering many drivers now staying on longer and the limitation of spots. I just wish there were 13 teams on the grid. This is F1 / FOM shooting themselves in the foot. I really do feel for the up and coming high performers ...... I really think this is going to push towards an independent series ... making place for the stars of the future.

If Lawson doesn't get the RB seat in 2025 he should do a Giedo Van Der Garde and take the team to court.

Theoretically, could RB do like split duties? Kinda like how some IndyCar drivers do circuits but not ovals? Like have Lawson and one of the other 2 drivers splitting duties to compete for the seat the following year?

We'd have a similar situation with Suzuki and Brundle for Ligier in 1995.

I hope Logan keeps his seat, at least until next year when the car is actually decent. But if he doesn't I'd want Liam next to Alex in that Williams seat. Although I can see why Antonelli would be the first pick, I'd rather him join Mercedes sooner because currently it's still a midfield team. He can use that time to learn and be ready for the new regs and he can have an input for the 26 car. Just like how Lando joined Mclaren in 2019. Vowles is transforming that team and I think having a driver that's not on loan will help a lot.

As a new zealander i am practically on my knees begging for a new zealand driver. I support aussie drivers currently cause they are nz’s neighbour but a Lawson-Piastri battle every once and a while i’d love

Btw, IMO Hartley was f***ed over all season - other idiots running him off, bad strategy and an utterly rubbish car. I think given another season and a decent car he would have proved himself. To those asking for more teams ..The team owners are changing the next Concorde Agreement so only 10 teams can compete. Stale, sanitized, controlled, spec racing. The team owners are so worried about the almighty dollar , they would rather destroy the series. As for the fans... We are just the one that pays the bills. We will take what we are given.

Ricciardo is developing car and Tsunoda is driving well so no need for dramatic change...

@@cidklutch The problem is that Lawson hasn't shown he'd be some guaranteed improvement. He did really well in a couple of his Ric fill-in races, and then declined. He got a massive leg-up in 2023 by also doing Super Formula (considered the closest thing to F1, closer than F2 is), and that's something he's not doing this season. Logan Sargeant was outshining teammate Lawson during the latter half of F2 in 2022 and has since struggled in F1. F2 has a new generation of cars more similar to F1 now, something Logan Sargeant probably needed to help him adjust quicker to F1. Yuki Tsunoda has turned the corner now in his...3rd season in F1 is it? Or 4th?

It's not over yet for Lawson, but whether he gets onto the grid is now effectively determinative on what happens to the current crop of Red Bull drivers. Max is safe (barring a surprise/incredibly unlikely move). Which leaves the question between Riccardo, Tsunoda and Perez. There are multiple factors which could see all three leave/kicked out of Red Bull. If there is an actual title battle this season and Perez ends up costing Red Bull the Constructors; if Riccardo underperforms like he was pre-Miami; if Honda forces Lawrence Stroll to kick out his son in favour of an Alonso/Tsunoda pairing for 2026, then Lawson can step in. (Ok the Tsunoda one is a long shot but let me hope for a way to get that Canadian embarrassment of the grid somehow).

Have you seen the Red Flags podcast with Liam? He goes into a conversation he had with Helmut where Liam frustrated Helmut by insisting he deserves a seat for 2024 before Daniel crashed and hurt himself. Very interesting stuff.

The F1 grid is quite competitive and has been for a few years now and the drivers are mostly there on merit, normally Alonso and Hamilton would have retired and stroll would have been let go and that would mean some more seats for the young F2 drivers but at the moment it seems Olli Bearman and Antonelli are the only 2 that seem have a seat ready for them next year and if RB carry on this trajectory then DR and Yuki will stay there will be no reason to change and both drivers are quite popular with the fans aswell.

If you make a promise, you don't just get to backtrack and say "Actually I didn't break my promise because I backtracked first." That's not how a promise works.

Red Bull would be stupid to lose LiamLawson If I were Williams, or Haas or Alpine Lawson would be my number one target. Not only is Liam an excellent driver, but he has the mindset and attitude of a champion.

Audi/Sabuar should jump at this turmoil and sign him ASAP, he'll have a year to develop with a lower to mid-field car then a car that will be competing closer to the top in his 2nd year.

Everytime people say that these young drivers don't get the chance that they deserve in F1 I cannot help but look directly at the F1 grid and teams. Then at how they fight so hard to not have more teams... Ahhemmm!! Andretti!!!

9:20 Or Helmut said that cuz Liam will move to another if not a seat is not given to him. And Helmut knows that it is a slim chance for Liam to get a RedBull seat. And there for Helmut included all the seats on the grid and knows other team´s want Liam.

Honestly, why not entirely, I think a major factor in Lawson getting an RB seat is actually stroll’s performance. If stroll gets kicked out of aston because of poor performance, tsunoda can take the Aston seat (keeping honda & other sponsors happy with aston), Lawson can then take the rb seat partnering Riccardo who seems to have a very similar personality to Lawson and in turn can mentor him.

The thing is too, Riccardo could likely enjoy that arrangement (of him mentoring Lawson) because unlike at mclaren, Riccardo knows he has to make the big bosses at Redbull happy & that he likely isn’t fighting for podiums. So the pressure of podiums isn’t there + he’ll know if he can help one of f1’s biggest hotshots into becoming a powerhouse (potentially becoming Redbull’s counter to Piastri), then Redbull upper management is likely to consider him for a spot in the top team (filling in the time between now & when Lawson is ready for that seat (potentially filling Max’s role as the lead driver)). Long story short, a lot of this could be fixed if stroll moved from f1 to another category (potentially WEC, which I recon he’d do quite well in), making Aston happy, making tsunoda happy (he’ll finally have a team trying to become WC), making Riccardo happy & making Lawson happy.

Better not stop him being in f1 with his talent.

Liam should take Charles seat. On the grid for years in a top tier team and car and hasn’t delivered the top prize. Lawson and Antonelli should go to Ferrari.

Bearman to HAAS & Antonelli to Williams. Carlos will have his choice of Mercedes or Audi. If he goes to Audi (?), Bottas back to Mercedes? Stranger things have happened. Or Albon to Mercedes and Bottas back to Williams, where he began, to groom Antonelli. So many possibilities. I love the silly season. We’ll know more after the summer break.

NO, Antonelli has to replace Charles. Charles has not delivered the top prize with a top team and car. Antonelli is awesome. He's the new Verstappen. Logan needs to grow with Williams.

Liam to Haas Valtteri to Williams. And who is driving for would already be decided. they know who they want, it’s the speculation by fans that changes day by day.

How crazy would it be to see Yuki and Lawson in the Red Bull seats. Or, Sainz and Danny Ric with Yuki or Lawson replacing Ric in a couple years? Fire Helmut to force Max’s hand and Perez, well his contract just expires. Start fresh next year. Bold move for sure, hella interesting though. And approve Andretti for 2 more open seats for young drivers.

Lawson will be in the Vcarb next season and I got a feeling Riccardo will replace Magnussen as the veteran paired with Oliver Bearman

Could get spicy as ink was put to paper at the end of last year which is the whole reason Liam turned down another drive for this season. Thanks for the shout out of my late Grandfather Denny Hume was very touching.

@@LawVS He was a great man and my hero. He died doing what he loved when racing at Bathurst, he had a Heart attack while racing a B&H BMW M3. My family is still very close with the McLaren and Amon families. Although the McLaren family is no longer involved with McLaren F1 we all get invites to car launches and a couple of races every year. I went to the Oz GP and will go to Spa later on this year. My garage is full of Denny's racing stuff which I really need to sort out at some stage.

@@LawVS I race a classic ex group A BMW M3 E30, not Dennys old car unfortunately. I know you are a big McLaren and I have some vintage memorabilia from Denny and Bruce as well as Senna and Prost. Just some signed hats, shirts, photos and signed used racing gloves from all 4 I would like to send you, I cant think of a better home than yours, I have quite a few, so these need a home someone can appreciate. I think Lawson might go to Alpine. Sauber wouldn't want to throw out the people who've driven their car since 2022 at such a crucial time, so they'll keep Bottas or Zhou to ensure that Audi comes in smoothly. Meanwhile, Ocon might leave Alpine for another team that would appreciate his talents, possibly Aston Martin if your predictions are true or even Mercedes-AMG, as he'd be a reasonably talented stopgap who's already connected to the team. If that happens, Lawson would be able to be signed there, and considering he wants to get into F1, he might sign with them

Marko is such a thorn in the side. I wonder half the time if he has any sort of backing to say anything he says because it's always contradicting something someone else is saying from the team. Brass tax, Liam has got to look out for number 1. Take notes from Piastri---funded by one team, did his training at one team, promise after promise they made him until finally they f'd around and found out, and he dipped and went to McLaren. I've no doubt his manager is working hard knocking on every open door, because at this point, beggars can't be choosers, and I think he knows that. Hoping when the musical chairs stops, he'll have a seat, but he may just want to look at other racing options outside of F1 too.

There should be a relegation system in F1 if you don't score points or are not competitive you should be out of F1 as a team for the next season and replaced with an outside team.

Alpine might have openings next year, although no driver is keen on going there lmao

I'm not so sure other teams will be keen to have him though. Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren would have little interest. Aston have several options if Lance does leave. Audi could be a possibility but I doubt it. If Haas take Bearman they would probably want a more experienced driver with him. Doohan or Martins would be front of the queue if Alpine need another driver. That leaves Williams who probably don't want to upset Toto. Lawson is absolutely good enough to be in F1. But talent alone isn't enough.

I loved how the Australian GP admin adopted Liam Lawson as their own when he was racing. It was sooo supportive and their excitement was fun to watch

People forget that Liam wasn’t even in the Picture as a Reserve, Yuri Vips was the Reserve until he got kicked out after the Liam’s COD Twitch Stream…Liam was LUCKY TO GET 3rd in the F2 Championship after Jack Doohan’s Wheels fell off after his Pitstop in the Last F2 Race in 2022! Both Yuki & Daniel performed better than Liam did & Daniel has a Way Higher Ceiling.

Sorry, but if there isn't a promotion at VCARB to Red bull, i don't think there is a drive for Liam. There just aren't enough drives for everyone and if you have 2 points scoring drivers, why rock the boat? We need more european teams that are willing to contract these F2 champions. This cause i don't think Andretti will. Actually i seem to remember an application from a New Zealand team that was rejected. A shame.

If the 2026 concorde agreement (not allowing one owner of multiple teams) forces a VCARB sale (to andretti?), they'll want it to look as commercially valuable and attractive as possible in 2025 so I think that keeps DR in the seat. Then, I think if Redbull sell VCARB to Andretti, they will continue a Honda power unit deal (As they have for their IndyCar, and snub the RB powertrain) till 2028 (so in 2026 honda would have aston works and andretti customer, ideal R&D for a new regs) , and critically, keep yuki (satisfying honda) for the whole time.

Lawson deserves to be in a car. But, that weird F1 tradition where the driver who has the most sponsorship money seems to get the seat. Just being a great driver, doesn't matter as much. At least in the world of F1, F2, F3, and so on. Andretti will change that tradition quick.
