Excellent review. I agree with almost everything you said, Except two. 1) not having speaker might actually be a pro! I had a dell ultra-wide (which I returned and sucked imo) and it made me crazy how volume controls didn't work with monitors speaker enabled or disabled (while on mac with laptop connected). 2) I have the Ultragear monitor in front me right now. And I have to say its really hard going back to 60~100 hz after this. Like already I noticed a lot of macos animations/frames that I just didn't see before. For scrolling through code the transition is now just pleasant and futuristic. Also for games like Iron Harvest I clearly noticed the improvement of refresh rate when moving around the screen. That being said you are right LG is doing really good.

At 9:16...comment about LG monitors selling out is SO TRUE. I was going to buy and saw plenty in stock for a similar monitor so I said, I'll get to buying it later in the week. I've owned this exact same monitor for 2 years now, so beast and works for regular gaming and multitasking. I plan to buy a second one and attach a monitor arm to it.

Hello, after using it a while, did you notice any issues with it? On the Amazon reviews, I found that users report issues with panels and/or USB-C port not working after a few months of use. Did you notice any of those issues?

Hey dude, I am looking into getting this monitor for casual pc use & 1440p gaming. How do you like yours?

I’ve been looking at this and 34wn750-b, they are almost the same and the 750 is cheaper by 30 with gaming support. The main diff would be 750 is 8bit but with FreeSync and 75hz making the choice very hard. I play but not competitive so I’ve been looking for any actual use and this is pushing me more toward 80c side. Ugh, for non professional editor, does 8bit vs 10bit matter? Does asking this answer my question? No comparison between these 2 monitors anywhere......

@@jimmymcgill5572 I actually ended up returning it immediately and getting the ERGO version with the highly adjustable arm. They were both OK, but I then returned that as well. IMO, and I realize I'm probably in the minority here, I just like working on my 27" 5k iMac, it just works! And then when I'm traveling/mobile or in another office I just use my Macbook pro. I feel like its as close to the perfect combo as I'll ever need.

Whats the difference between a 60watt delivery vs a 90? If your using this with your Macbook Pro?

Ive been having issues with va panels and g sync. Always get flickering. Ive tried three different va monitors. Can you tell me if this monitor does the same thing?

@@brendanxavier7754 Hey bro! So it looks like the newest version is the 34WP85C but it’s $699.99 and currently sold out on the LG website (on Amazon it’s currently $696). The only difference I saw was that this one has 96w of power out to your laptop, vs the 60w from the 34WN80C… and it has built in speakers and I think the height adjustment mechanism is different but the price doesn’t seem justified to me. I currently have a Dell XPS 15 9500 docked to it and i actually prefer the slower charging with the 60w (something about battery damage when plugged in too long). When comparing the 34wn750 vs the 34wn80c I ultimately went with the wn80c bc I actually like the curve and I believe it’s a bit more color accurate if I’m not mistaken. I bought a pair of audioengine a2+s with it and it’s been perfect. I’ve never had to return it and all the ports are working fine on my unit. I know some people had issues with the charging but so far I haven’t had any issues. Hope this helps!

I had one but had to return it because it had nice specs on paper but colors where really washed out and bad ghosting/tearing while gaming

"If you see it in stock grab it" he says, although I'm watching this review 2 years later. But, I'd put it on my AMZ watch list earlier today and in the last few hours it's just dropped from $430 to $350. Probably the Prime day promo, which starts this week. But, I wouldn't expect that price will last long. Also that price today direct from LG.

So I have a question: if I want to plug a PC (maybe HDMI or DP) and a MacBook with the usb-c port, and use the USBs for peripherals (mouse and keyboard) to easely switch between this two, its not possible in the case that the macbook isn't powered on? because of the necessity to power USB C to power the other USBs?

Yes

60Hz should be fine for single player games. But if you want buttery smooth frames or play competitively, I'd go with a higher refresh rate.

Hey thanks for the video consumer tech review! I’m trying to decide between the 35 in curved lg and the acer 34 in.. they are almost exactly the same but the acer has 144 refresh rate and 1ms response time while the lag is only 100 and 5ms response time... I caught a sale on the LG for 399 and now the acer is 449.. do you think that extra refresh rate and response time is worth the 50-60$ and losing that inch of monitor real estate... i’m pretty indecisive as to which one I should pull the trigger on or if I should return the LG and get the Acer.. most of the time I do different editing on my computer so I was firstly looking for a bigger display for my 15 inch MacBook Pro.. but I also play call of duty and other PlayStation games so I thought it would be useful to get a monitor that could double as a gaming set up..? Any thoughts anyone?

it really depends on your use case. Since i assume you work more than game the LG would be your better choice unless your talking competitive gaming thats where the 144hrz makes the most difference but for casual gaming and work the LG wins all day especially at the 399 price and 100hrz IMO

@@2demonstorm thanks man! I got it a little while ago but yes i ended up going with the LG. I’m glad I did because I didn’t realize that PlayStation only put out 16:9 ratio and the ultra wide monitors are 21:9 so it was stretched when I tried it with the PS4. Since I primarily needed a good work monitor I love it! Size is great.. no problems!

Yes it does. LG has a support on screen control app that comes with the monitor.

it's very subjective. If you find it too small you can always scale it up windows or browser zooming
