Regarding the color being a little faded, I can't speak for this monitor in particular but for people transitioning from a TN panel to IPS, you will always notice this issue with colors appearing more "white-ish". That is actually how things are supposed to look (many people use IPS for graphic design) but we're used to monitors that crank up the contrast and saturation by default in an attempt to make things look more vibrant than they are. It's like eating a donut with a lot of sugar in it and then tasting an apple and thinking it has no flavor. Something to keep in mind when you change monitors.

There's a good chance that she used IPS before, but macs are pretty much always glossy, and glossy displays look more vibrant but always glare like crazy, also you can see your own reflection in it often. Matte screens are more washed out but they don't glare in the sun or light and don't give these mirror-like reflections.

I bought two 27" QHD recently, to try them out. The monitors were identical to Pixio PX275C but branded to a local computer store. I returned them because I found the setup difficult to use. I calibrated them both and noticed that at least in them, the RGB setting of 50 is actually 100 % and increasing it would just cause clipping of the shades near white. So it seems that properly calibrated monitors always have something like 48, 49 or 50 there. Now I also realize that a contrast setting of 50 is basically the pass-through one, i.e. a "do nothing" setting. But for 120 nits one required a brightness setting of 27, another a 32. I would lend this lady a colorimeter if I were there. But also, Mac OS at least used to have a visual method of calibration.

I used to have multiple screens for my work before I move back to my home country because I needed to have several windows opened so that, as you said, I don't have to waste my time switching the window while taking data to a spreadsheet, for example. One thing that ultrawide screen is better than normal screens is that you can have bigger windows, which is really helpful for someone who need remote accesses to her PC and software inside while working from home and need to have as large working space as possible. It is going to be really helpful, only if I can afford it though...

I have the same monitor for daily coding. What can I say is that for space it was wonderful! But I find the default font size for common IDE is too small for the screen so unless I get really near to the monitor I can hardly read the code. The small fix to this was to simply increase the font size of the editor only. So other fonts like menu and file manager will stay small and save a lot of space.

@@seriouscat2231 I'm pretty happy with my 34''. Unless those longer monitors have a strong curve, you'll have a lot of the content in your peripheral vision, so I only find it worthwhile to spend extra on the monitor in front of me, not on additional screen that I look at less. I'm not sure whether I prefer just adding a secondary monitor or getting a giant one. If you like to use fullscreen apps (like I used to), then the additional monitor would make more sense. I guess if you use keyboard shortcuts to arrange stuff (like I do now), a super long one might make sense, but I'm not sure. I suspect that a super long monitor's aspect ratio wouldn't go well with videos/photos.

@@josealvaradotorre6870, thanks for taking the time to respond. I borrowed a 32" UHD to try out 1) what a 32" UHD would look like, 2) what the resolution would feel on a 40" 5k2, 3) how many pixels there are in a 3840 x 1600, 4) how do 1440 or 1600 vertical pixels feel when scaled to the equivalent of a 34" or 38" ultrawide. Nvidia's drivers for linux let me choose almost any resolution and scale it to almost any size on screen, so I can simulate the actual size and resolution of both if I just ignore that the extreme edges are missing. 2993 x 1440 scaled to 3840 x 1848 (128 %) to simulate a 34" ultrawide, 3044 x 1600 scaled to 3840 x 2019 (126 %) to simulate a 38" one. I think 1440 is fine and 1600 feels like too much. But you are right that the extreme edges are the real question. And the additional 200 + 200 horizontal pixels.

Came from a single 27" monitor much like yourself, so the extra screen real estate and simplistic aesthetic made it incredible. However, I have to do a lot of screensharing for my job and it looks distorted on Teams/Zoom. Anything that is 40 inches and above, it has all the plus sides of a normal ultrawide, but also comes with the advantage of having a built in KVM switch. Which in turns allows it to split into 2 actual separate monitors with out the eye sore of a bezel in between them, no multiple wires, and takes up less space because it only sits on one mount. That Lenovo is 3840 x 1200, as in two 24" 1920 x 1200 displays side by side, in a 32:10 aspect ratio with 92 DPI. What she's got there is 3440 x 1400, a 16:9 27" 2560 x 1440 stretched sideways to nominally 21:9 but actually 43:18 or 21.5:9. Her display is 109 DPI, just like a 49" 5120 x 1440 or a 38" 3840 x 1600 are also. Yours is about 26 cm or over 10 inches wider and I think that was a dealbreaker for her. Enjoy the flat ultrawide while your eyes are still young, and able to easily change focus. The wider the flat monitor, the further back you have to be from the monitor, to easily see out to the sides. When you get older, like me, the eye loses its ability to easily change focus. The problem happens if/when you have to wear computer glasses, to be able to clearly see your monitor. The distance from your eye to the center of the monitor is closer than from your eye to the side of the monitor. My computer glasses is prescribed for a specific eye to monitor distance, and my eyes have a rather shallow "depth of field." So I end up leaning to the side, to see the side in focus. The leaning maintains the eye to monitor distance. And this is on a 28 inch monitor, not a WIDE screen, like a 40 inch. The solution for me is to get a curved monitor, that brings the sides closer to my focus distance. The other solution, as was said by others, is to use two smaller monitors, each at the focus distance of my computer glasses, 24 inches.

I would have gone with the 34" MSI PS341WU. The 5K 5120x2160 resolution is a nice PPI bump. LG has one with the 5k resolution but I did not think it warranted 500 bucks over the MSI one.

I made A LOT of researches & decided with triple monitors(dual also ok just not 1 wide). Big reason is you can watch full screen movie/youtube/netflix/twich/videos with one monitor and other monitor to do your work. You cannot watch fullscreen & do other stuffs with 1 wide monitor. Same if you are gaming, one full screen monitor for game & other work/discord. There are many merits & demerits for both but this one reason only enough to make me decided on dual/triple monitors rather than 1 ultrawide. Each to their own. Hope this helps anyone.

4K is absolutely necessary now at least for work because nowadays we work with multiple documents and at least one browser session these days. This applies to simple unskilled office work as well. Small local hospitals now use at least 2 monitors, 3 not being uncommon, as it is with jet fighters. Anything below full HD should be replaced and thrown away or the result will be losing work due to text dropout happening.

Please test these 3 resolution and 2 ratios in one monitor Which one should I pick for better downscale when my GPU can't handle games in the future? Is it looks bad or good? Can you please make a video of it? There is no video of it with a good explanation on youtube. Try different games both Ultrawide and 4k and downscale them from 4k to 1440p and 1080p and 21:9 Ultrawide, 1440p and 1080p (16:9 Ratio) I am really confused by these two monitors which one will be best for downscale when my GPU can't handle games in the future. I want the best in 3 worlds, 4k or Ultrawide, 1440p, and 1080p. And another one is curve feels uncomfortable since it's curved. Are games look weird, curve-looking, and stretched? I've got an LG Ergo Curved 38" that's 3840 x 1600. So it's 2 x 1920 x 1600. Or 2 x 1920 x 1080 + 3840 x 520. Or 2 x 1920 x 1080 + 1920 x 1040 - so almost three FHD screens! Or 3 x 1280 x 2 x 800. The only downside to me? Hard to find 3840 x 1600 wallpapers... But I love it. For youtube viewing it's a 29" 16:9 in the centre. And for twitch, the extra space is for chat. Oh, and for now I have to connect the display over HDMI or DisplayPort. I also need to get a USB-A to USB-C convertor to attach the USB-C just for the hub. But for next PC: great! And I'm so happy that I could buy it with € 400 off somehow. Some crazy deal, The company had too much of them taking up too much space, I guess? But hey, I got lucky!

Right now I have an older LG 29” ultra-wide and a 27”. Looking to replace the 27” with a normal 32” as I really want more vertical space (hence stumbling upon your review). When I’m doing web dev I really need two monitors. On the 29” I usually have VS Code extended close to the entire width to accommodate the terminal window, editor and side bar open at same time. Then on the 27 I have the web app open along with the dev tools so that takes up a lot of horizontal space. As usual web dev makes things harder than it should be. But thanks for the review gave me something to think about. Btw what did you do with your old monitor? Hate to throw away a perfectly working monitor. Good will donation?

I don't think that an ultrawide monitor would be any different than if you had two monitors, and your desktop is spanning the two monitors. Similar problem if someone sharing has a large HIGH rez, 4K monitor. The people viewing can't see near the rez that the source computer shows. Personally, I am more concerned about MY productivity than sharing the desktop. If sharing the desktop is important in your job, different story. You may have to get a second "standard" format monitor, just for sharing the desktop.

I have 2 24" monitors, and I'm going to change them most likely for this one. They are taking ridiculous amount of space. Do you really need one whole extra monitor for your work? Becaus I don't, honestly. It's too wide for me, and becomes uncomfortable after certain point. I do a lot of editing and graphics, and 1 24" monitor is not enough for that, and two 24" monitors doesn't look pleasant at all - always have to fight with frames and it's a bit disturbing.

I am going from a single 24 to a 32 inch 4K monitor. The 32 inch takes up less horizontal space on my desk than two 24 inch monitors side-by-side. And with 4K, I have almost the same horizontal resolution. Important, how FAR is the monitor from your eyes? The WIDER the FLAT monitor, the farther it should be from your eyes. The reason is side distortion. On a WIDE monitor at 24 inches, you will be looking at the side pixels at about 30-45 degrees, vs perpendicular in the center. Two 24s will let you adjust each so that you are looking perpendicular to each screenn, than a single WIDE monitor. The other is, you can select different 24 inch monitors, depending on your needs, so each of the two monitor can specialize. vs. a one size fits all of the single ultrawide monitor.

I suspect it was the auto brightness setting, but there is no auto brightness setting. I tried turning off the SMART ENERGY SAVING setting, but the problem is still there. Then i turned off LG's DFC (Digital Fine Content) setting, still to no avail. There is no setting for it also on Mac's system preference display setting. Couple problems. How close are you to the monitor? I sit 24 inches from my monitor. At that distance the sides of the monitor distort, because they are so FAR from my eyes, vs, the center of the screen. And you are also looking at the side pixels at an angle (30-45 degrees), vs perpendicular in the center. I found myself leaning over to the side, so that I can look at the sides of the monitor more perpendicular. A narrower monitor reduces that problem.
