Wouldn’t it technically be possible to weld in a CARB legal/compliant cat, in place of the stolen 2nd cat “assembly”? I forget about what entails the legality of such a “modification” or “fix” would turn out like…
Great video! Thanks for doing such a comprehensive and informative walk through. Are there any other solutions available? Thanks
I live in Europe and in the UK, catshields are sold for these cars. I do not know if it is worth while importing this in the US
Damn can’t believe it. They cut this hybrids lexus rx 350/400/450h
That cat is after the second O2 sensor, it wouldn't cause a check engine light. I would just have them weld in a pipe and forget about it.

That is correct, it is not a monitored cat and you will not get a CEL from it being gone. You will however not pass smog in CARB law states without it.

Too bad this channel is based in CA…. Other than that, most other cat thieves in other states are a hit and miss, as you can see… Thieves in other states don’t get as much for their “work”, when they either end up with aftermarket, generic cats, gutted/hollowed out cats, or even aftermarket metallic high flow cats (if equipped). OEM ones are really the ones worth any TRUE value, so..
Can you solder thick chain as an alternative?

You can, however, if every link is not welded it will rattle like crazy
Just weld some straight pipe in place of catalytic converter. Since Police couldn't care less about the issue, why should we. What's more, the main catalytic converters are in place. Plus on hybrid car emissions can not be checked, so don't worry to much about it.

It’s not that the police don’t care, it’s that they don’t have any teeth. We need to stop blaming law enforcement on these problems and start blaming the law makers. As far as welding a pipe in place of the cat, you may live in a state that doesn’t require it, but California does. And California has more registered cars than any other state, so statistically your idea is not only illegal, it doesn’t work for most owners.
How come these stupid thieves are not going to jail.
California is a living hell of state.
