I'm about 8 miles away at a automotive shop, I send all my muffler and catalytic converter jobs to Muffler Tech! Been sending them for the past 7 years!! Great people!!
I just wanted to congratulate you on such a well made and informative video....not just for RV owners but anyone who has a vehicle that sits up high off the ground. You seem very knowledgeable on the subject and Colby did a great job of explaining the procedure in advance so that even I could understand. I am very impressed with entire production, video quality and camera work AND the audio was excellent. Keep up the good work. Great video! 👍
I can attest that Colby and the folks at Muffler tech are top notch…. He will educate you on how to make it difficult for C.A.T thieves to steal your catalytic converter…. He will even suggest the best insurance to get to minimize expenses if it does get stolen! I got a cat back done there back in ‘95’ on my Nissan ….. He just opened his shop.
I also recommend the following in addition to this steel tubing on this video. Put a strong metal Sheild covering the entire converter and connective pipes that is welded onto that area. Do not settle for bolted shielding. It must be welded on to make your converter much harder and less desirable for thieves to want to steal.
So glad your back! Missed that beautiful smile. I'm happy you had a good time living on the farm & helping with chores. It's the simple things in life people no longer seem to appreciate. After a days work I love a few minutes in the evening with my chickens & quail. I can feel my blood pressure dropping just doing chores. lol Looking forward to your next video.

Thank you. It does make a significant difference. Sometimes it's better to take things slow and enjoy the simple things life gives us everyday.
Great video with a beautiful smile. I bet your little girl was happy to see you return home. Thanks for sharing.
I like it Vanna!! You're so smart to be proactive with this. I'm making plans to protect my Ford RV as well.
I'm working on my Nomad life goals and have found your videos the most informative and realistic of all the ones that I enjoy. You're giving me plenty of things to think about in a realistic way before moving forward. I think now that I'll be doing 90 day trips away from home in my journey. Not seeing a fulltime lifestyle since my Art practice is leaning into residency and installations.
that tubing for roll bar protection is beyond tough, they will by pass this vehicle rather than fool with, this girl is smart, deterred a future theft somewhere where you don't want to break down, yeah smart
Wow! It's was such a breath of fresh air to see a new video from you! I've been subscribed since your last video over a year ago. Love your new profile pic too. Very informative presentation.

Oh my God sis!!! Thank you so much!! I was literally thinking about that while watching all these beginner RV videos and NO ONE had mentioned about keeping the CC safe OR any of the engine parts!! I made a note to myself regardless to make plans to protect my engine and CC from theft. (Also, yaaaay!!! You went to Sac! I’m about 1-1:15 hrs away from there! I’m apartment living right now thou 😔❤️🩹 I’ll get to your level one day I pray! 🙏🏾😄🙏🏾)
Thank you for sharing this. When I get to Sacramento I’ll likely go there and have the same done. You made it so easy to install, understand and showed us how much it cost and what they do.
Everyone needs to retrofit with adjustable air suspension systems. A sensor near the cat convertor detects violent movement and the air suspension lowers the car and traps the suspect under the car. Call the cops and wait for the bloody suspect to wiggle out.
Thank you for this awesome information 😊
Great info! Thank you ❤️
Thank you Lady. 🙌
I bought a 3 inch U bolt and bolted it to my exhaust pipe where they try to cut at , and connected a one inch steel chain to the U bolt, then wrap the chain around exhaust pipe and connected chain to 2 nd U bolt,
Thanks for the video.

Such an awesome video!
Well done video. Thank you.
I see a lot of cheap fools on here complaining about the price, I see about $100 in pipe, $4,000 for welder, $8,000 for medium duty truck lift(RV), $9,000 plus a mo. in shop overhead, $200,000.00 in tools, decades of experience and education in trade and business management. Not to mention being bonded and insured...
This ia an awesome video, very well made. I need to do this.
Thank you for sharing this video. I was just notified today that the catalytic converter was stolen off my 1996 Coachman Leprechaun while parked on the storage lot. I've filed a claim with my insurance and I'm here searching for tips on preventing future vandalism as I search for an RV repair shop. Great video!

You have to custom bend the tubing for each different application (car) correct? What about in the future if repairs need to be made or muffler changed is it hard to get by the welds?

Beautiful cat. Sadly catalytic theft is rising again and I've got a truck so anything they can crawl under is easy game for them although they've been going around with jacks and stealing them even off low to the ground cars. They'll usually do a saws-all or even a pipe cutter and end up costing the owner thousands to get one replaced.
Cute kitteh! Thanks for showing us your theft protection. Great idea.
Weld a cage, but use a hollow metal tube on part of the cage so that it can be filled with a few ounces of gasoline or your favorite flammable liquid, then cap off the end. Now once the cutting sparks fly, and the fuel air mix is just right it will ignite and spill on to their clothing. When you hear screaming, just sit back and enjoy the show. Oh dont forget to video it. :)
Awesome.
I wish I had seen this sooner. Mine was stolen earlier this week.
Good video!
Thanks!!

Oh and, good vid!!!
I drove my RV to Sacramento to visit my sister a few years back and a guy try to steal my bicycle off of my RV in front of a 24 hour fitness in the middle of the day while I was still in the RV. Seriously. He walked passed my door and I was like those parts look just like my bike. The guy was like 50 years old and 130 lbs. I confronted him and and as he tried to explain what he was doing I said, it is a good idea for you to walk away right now. It will not end well for you. He walked away. True story. Of course last week my converters got stolen at the RV storage place which is 1/8 of a mile from the police station. LOL Glad you are an RV'er. Keep living life.... :-)

And when you need a new exhaust the labour time will be excessive cutting the old exhaust off to replace it , then you will need it all done again on the new exhaust.

@@VannaMae once you see the cost of the new one I very much doubt youll consider spending much more to keep it. If had purchased a new one and protected it straight away i could see the point in proctecting it as it should last for many many years of use but doing this to a rusty old exhaust seems a tad uneconomical. There are cat alarms out there that are very cheap to buy, one guy on youtube even adapted a remote house alarm to trigger as soon as someone climbs under his vehicle he even adapted it not to trigger when a cat or racoon went under the car.
Nice idea, but I would think more tubing would be needed, I think a Sawzall would saw through the roll bar tubing quite easily as well. How about welding rebar in all the vulnerable areas, I would think that would be tuffer then tublng. Or install the tubing with pieces of rebar inside. The rebar would spin inside the tubing and couldn't be cut through, ..... it may rattle a bit on rough roads though.

You don't want to hear rattling
Found your channel 3 days after mines was stolen while at work
I'm sorry but how is this going to keep them from cutting - the bar is below the cutting area - they can still cut completely through the pipe in front and behind the CC - all other protective means I seen - blocks the cutting of the pipe

set up something underneath that will spray something that would really stink if someone is messing around underneath your vehicle.
Welds rebar + Need add big cables run around. Make them harder to get it.
Like have u have your cat around for it. Damn we got our stolen off our 2021Tacoma, was mad af, they still haven't fixed our truck yet.. We will need to get this done on our truck

THANK YOU THANK YOU SWEETHEART. YOU ARE FULL OF KNOWLEDGE AND YOU SHARE WITH OTHERS. I TELL PEOPLE IF YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE TO HELP SOMEONE WHO IS IN NEED AND YOU HOLD IT IN YOUR HEART, ITS EVIL. MANY CALL THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS. GOD BLESS YOU FOR THE GIFTS GOD HAS GIVEN YOU. NOTE: IF YOU EVER LOSE YOUR CAT, HOPE NOT, BUT GET A GERMAN SHEPHERD. BE SAFE. SHARE WITH PEOPLE THAT THE LARGE PARTICLES FROM THE MOUTH FALL TO THE GROUND OR FLOOR, BUT THE MICRO PARTICLES FLOAT IN THE CALM AIR FOR AN HOUR. ALSO THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO NEVER WENT OUTSIDE, JUST ORDERED, BUT STILL GOT THE VIRUS. IT COMES FROM PACKAGES, MAIL AND OTHER PAPERS. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE. THE VIRUS NEEDS THE NOSE TO GET TO A WARM MOIST PLACE TO GROW AND FEED IT HOST. BE CAREFUL AND CONTINUE TO HELP US WITH YOUR INFORMATION
Do you know what size of steel pipe was used?
Just saw this, mine was stolen a week ago . Cost $800 to fix ! (Odyssey)

where is the catalac converter located on an 1984 travel trailer located?

What about when it's time to repair the catalytic converter
@LincolnSP150
2 жыл бұрын
What about if you have none to replace/repair. They get replaced, not repaired and in a muffler shop it would be easily replaced regardless of the deterrent method in place.
What about when it’s time to service it?
@VannaMae
2 жыл бұрын
Just go to a muffler shop if you need to replace it and they have the tools to remove it. But if you take care of your engine and do routine maintenance that shouldn't be an issue.
Seems more logical to put all the pipe on the top side....where the thief would start their cut, rather than on the bottom. Plus it looks like they could cut from the bottom and bypass the weld point.
@rl2769
2 жыл бұрын
Would really need for pieces of pipe around the the cat and pipes at 4 equal spaces. It would be easy to steal her cat with only one rebar to protect it. Just cut from the side with no rebar.
Thieves cut off my catalytic converter from my 30' motorhome while it was parked in a gated, "secure" lot in the Bay area. Oy. All together I had to pay about $1800 to get a new torpedo cat converter and installed.

Your opinion it scared the shit out of them and they left it was so loud 😂
Why wouldn’t they just bypass that and just cut through the end of the converter itself??
$350! That's a good deal.
Don't they make money from replacing cat converters though?

Pretty good. Traveled 32 states, been to some major cities as well. I'm happy to say my catalytic converter is still there
Clifford Shock sensor armed alarm ⏰ alarms ⏰ alarms ⏰. Still best deterrent. Stop over thinking over spending. Bring attention to the terds stealing or killer drones under the car.
That was pricey. I would get a harbor freight welder and rebar and just toss the welder afterwards. Or do it for family and friends. It is nice to support shops and stores but. I like to save every penny possible

The problem with placing the tubing in those positions is that 99 out of 100 thieves are to too fucking stupid to notice that the tubing is even there, particularly at night, & will cut your shit almost all the way through before they reach the barrier bar......so you're still screwed. Good luck getting that repaired.

I hate to be that guy, but I see nothing here that would keep a competent individual from taking the CAT quickly. I realize competent may be an issue. But there are gaps and weak spots. However, it may be that recyclers won't take one that is hacked up. I have no idea.

I know right.
you're beautiful.
Well how can I be thoroughly impressed by this pricey work? I mean the pipes aren't caged in so a meth head can still start slicing and dicing up your piping before giving up and cost a fortune to repair the damage! Additionally laws can prevent a muffler shop from welding your disconnected CAT back on if it's completely cut off on both ends! Doing this over 20 years, why aren't they instead installing steal cabling wrapping around the CAT then to the frame above AND THEN attaching a steal mesh called "expanded steal", so the meth heads can't even touch the cat and its pipe ends? BTW drug addicts aren't hirable simply because they are dysfunctional and being destructive(destroying their bodies with drugs). So they can't show up for a job on time and can't do an assigned task properly or in a timely manner. PS consider adding barb wire around your cat, give your cat its claws back! Take care
What a waste of time and money. The ends where the pipe stops or even the last weld is the weakest link. The saw is going to cut through that with no issue. Don’t waste your money on this. A plate would be a better option than this.

What is it , almost 3 years later, 39 States. Still in tact.
350 bucks for a job that takes 45 minutes tops. The parts probably cost 30 bucks or less (metal tubing) and the rest is pure profit. This guy is a rip-off artist. If he really cared about his customers he would give them a down to earth fair price.
