@@BennysCustomWorks what about conversion kits? 1J and BMW diesel gearbox (from M57 engined car) or RX8. Nothing that uncommon, PMC does them, but Im sure there is someone more local to You. Here RX8 or BMW trans is cheap as shit, so conversion kit is like the only cost, but when You consider what You have to pay for 1J/2J engine, it's ok. There are kits to mate IS200 trans with UZ engines, but V8 on a budget is tiring :P Unless You don't like adapter plates, then well.

Easy way to fill the diff is screw the breather onto a bottle of diff oil, zip tie bottle upside down to boot arm and but a breather hole in the bottom. Remove filler plug and you have a self filling diff. Could also fit a fan to the cooler if still seeing high temps on slow tracks/skid pans

You should check out Gale Banks' youtube channel. He went over flat back diff-covers in amazing depth. I bet you are adding MORE work and aeration to the gear oil with the flat back than you are helping with the cooler. Also, going to be under-oiling the pinion as that depends on the curved diff cover to help carry oil up to the pinion bearing.

  • @geordiegibson1210

    3 жыл бұрын

@@camver100 it's been proven with Torx and Allen key bolts you get a far more even clamping force than you do with single and even double hex bolts. That's why many manufacturers use them, start looking at high end Euro cars from the mid 90's. They used them for this reason. People strip the threads on Torx and Allen bolts because, with the right tools, it doesn't feel like you're putting as much force into it to tighten it as you would have to with a hex head bolt. Reason being is quite simple, it's all to do with the tooling. look at the thickness of the walls in a hex head socket, versus the thickness of the shank on a Torx or Allen socket, much more strength in the latter two, so you don't "feel" the strain on the tooling. Hence why people strip threads, and why, when it is critical, a torque wrench is imperative to use.
