Chronic neutrophilic leukaemia and Chronic eosinophilic leukaemia are also 2 types of Leukemia that although is quite rare but is often over looked or not even known about in mainstream doctor's world. It is always good to learn about those 2 for a just what if situation.

Best way to tell the difference between CML and the other MPN's (there is 2 other MPN's actually named Leukemia also btw) is you check for the Philidelphia chromosome. PV's can have high count of any 3 or all 3. CML and CLL is the more common leukemias but there is numerous other Chronic Leukemias...each deals with a different type of blood cell. Like with me I get high hemacrit, high wbc, and high rbc.

I have just been diagnosed with AML. All my life I have been neutropenic, with average count at 0.5. That has been my normal, and have had few health problems, until now. Two years ago, I had endometrial cancer, which was treated with radiation and chemotherapy. (I did not complete full course, as blood count was not coming back quick enough). Now I find out that my cancer treatment has probably caused my AML, which will not be able to be cured. I will be getting low-dose chemo, which might buy me some more time, but my outlook is not good. My dreams and goals for retirement have been shattered. I basically sit at home feeling sicker and weaker, wondering when I will be taken away.

Here is one of the biggest mistakes I have seen with younger doctors...in dealing with a PV person...they use old research rather than the more recent research. a PV person at 45 hemacrit lives longer than a PV person higher than 45 hemacrit. Also a low epo and normal low indicates PV while a high to normal high indicates secondary....alot of newer doctors tend to think normal EPO means secondary when really it shows the opposite.
