You saved my life when I was I. Nursing school! I’ve been a nurse almost 4 years now and I still come back to you for brush up !
You have helped me through Nursing school more than you will ever know. I take NCLEX in 2 months, not scared but excited. Thank you so very much for all your help. My whole class loves your work.
Wow, such an old video but you literally just simplified BUN and Creatinine for me better than any online source. Thank you for all your videos, will definitely be visiting more often since im in my second semester of nursing school
Thank you so much. I feel like my professor was useless in discussing ALL aspects of our renal unit, and this has helped so much.
I love to see the transformation of these OG videos.
For everyone watching these amazing videos, please understand these lab values. I understand there are lots of lab value questions in the NCLEX. Thanks alot Mike!! I appreciate your efforts to make students (like myself) pass exams.
So i watched many of yur videos on youtube and because of this it was one of the main reason i passed my nclex on the first try with 75 questions oh yea!
You explained that well way better than my PCP. I think my doc is confused on this. 6 months ago both creatinine, bun , and ratio was all high. I had adema bad. He said if both are high it's just dehydration. I got fluids, went on a renal diet for a month retested and they all came down which is great. But 6 months later and I'm having i.c symptoms, it hurts to pee, and my bun is high not extreme just 21. My ratio is considered normal at 22 but that's high end of normal, my creatinine is low and my gfr is 100 all good things except the slight elevation in bun however I'm swelling again and the bladder urethra issues
Tons of nurse teachers cannot teach it because they don't understand it. But this guy here actually knows what the Renal system is. Wow, all I can say is, you are absolutely outstanding, you should teach the entire country, maybe there could be more nurses out there that actually know what they are doing. Thank you Michael, you are awesome!!!
This is a very good explanation of BUN and creatine. It solidifies it in my brain. Thanks Mike!!!!!!
I'm so glad I found you! Keep it up!
Oh my goodness, thank you thank you for simplifying things and talking slow and being so animated. Thank you
Your videos help me!! THANKS! They make Nursing School less stressful!
When you get into it more in depth you learn about hyper- filteration also. This may not be taught at a nursing level but out of a hope that someday it will be and that diagnostics for rare and hematological diseases will become more widely practced I would like to add hyper filtration as something important to know ! Especially for those who suffer from rare hematological diseases. A low creatine, and high ratio above 20:1 indicate pre kidney injury which Is often over looked because it is less common, and not included in lower or intermediate level medical training. (Which is due to statistics, politics, Money, and the policies governing curriculum and the financial feasibility of certain diagnostics which is another subject). So, back to hyper filteration ; Yes, it could mean dehydration or heart failure but it is also a sign often seen in hematological disorders like sickle cell anemia or other sickling diseases that affects blood flow, and due to the blood flow being restricted the kidney re filters trying to compensate and in this process some things only filter once and that number maintains at that level regardless of the number of the number of subsequent filterations. and other components change each time it's filtered through. The increase in the ratio should be a flag to look at The blood flow pre- kidney and consider what could be restricting it.
I love this! We were doing this the other day in class. My teacher did not make much sense. I saw your video and it makes much more sense! Thanks!
respected sir thank you ....
Thank you for your help in nursing school five years ago!!! <3
Thank you! So helpful!
Hey, thanks so much for your time, it truly is much appreciated. God Bless!
