    Lovely video content! Sorry for butting in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard about - Reyameron Linkify Blitzkrieg (do a search on google)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for learning how to avoid dialysis and boost your kidney health minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my best friend Jordan got great results with it.

    Years of nursing school and everything you teach sticks better and makes sense than all the money I spent at a top rate university. Thank you for the creative adds to your lectures and I will be taking boards in a month or so, keep up the great lectures and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and teaching/learning method.

    I never comment on forums/ or youtube but I feel that a big thank you is in order to Mr. Linares, your youtube videos have helped me refresh my studies and aquire a better understanding. I graduated in 2009 with BSN in nursing, failed my nclex twice, went into social work for a few years but my passion for nursing has not stopped. Keep the videos coming...hoping to take nclex again before end of year. Thank you again!

    Hey Michael I gotta say that you have everything aligned with renal failure and the nephrology field. I am a hemodialysis patient and on the list for a third kidney transplant. I have been on hemodialysis for 10 1/2 years and I have been diagnose with chronic renal failure at 10 days old. I have been battling for 28 years now and still counting.

    Great video. Just a note, everyone was a new nurse once so rolling your eyes at them for asking questions is a little nasty. I would hope that a new nurse would feel comfortable asking me for help without fear of ridicule. i remember what being new felt like.

    Also, some Dialysis patients like my mom, HAVE to take a med for her BP to sustain! So then of course you DO GIVE some MEDS! I do like tho that you mention things about the blood pressure as YES most do wash out in Dialysis HOWEVER DO NOT ASSUME ALL MEDS ARE ALWAYS ON HOLD NOT even for a procedure when a patient is on a N.P.O ask the DR more then once or their Caregivers about life saving meds especially one of which is a transplant patient since they have differnt rules to follow :))

    I would not call it a "refrigerator" as the machines are usually set to 36-37 degrees celsius. Also, units of blood are rarely given unless Hgb is less than 7, as this decreases their chances of getting a kidney transplant in future.

    BP meds also sometimes make it much harder to remove fluid because the BP drops prematurely before you can remove excess fluid. This is a common problem we had in our acute unit.

    Hi, I am a patient in ESRF, not yet on Dialysis, and educating myself on what to expect in the next chapter of my life. I have high BP, but it is not what caused my renal failure...I have an autoimmune problem, witch you did not list as a possible cause of CKD. I have IgA Nephropathy. There was nothing I could have done medically or by life style, to changes the outcome of my present stage 4D. My own bodies immune system is what caused the irreversible damage to both of my kidneys, and you should add this to your list of what can be causes of CKD/ ESRF. I would also use caution and/or be more aware of the language used( ie :fried, toasted,shot etc..) as to be more sensitive to the patient out there that may be (like myself) looking for answers and trying to understand what is happening with our bodies. Thank you for the information, it was very helpful.

    Sorry of your condition. You have walked into an area of You Tube, that is not meant for patients. We do have expressions that we use and though , you may not like it, this area is for those in the medical profession, so I feel it is "you " that has the issue not us. No racists , sexists or discriminatory remarks were made. Sometimes , instructors use simplified expressions to get a point across, or to say something. This is why there are boundaries between patients and medical professionals. You crossed what in real time would be a boundary for you, and you could not enter this space. No, doubt if professionals are going to tip toe around you. This is not your area to control.

    ankita limbani hi dear, first find out from your doc what you are lacking in and what you should restrict. Usually pt with acute kidney/ chronic kidney injury will be on a low potassium diet ( keep low diet of nuts, banana, orange, kiwi , cantaloupe, broccoli , spinach , etc) usually u will need a high calcium diet due to the low calcium which is causing the bone pain . U can up your calcium but without vitamin d u won't be able to absorb calcium so best thing to do is find out your vitamin d levels and increase supplemental /nutritional intake of VIT d

    Please patients don't come on KZread seeking medical advice. Each of you are unique and special , and your doctor and others on the medical team know your individual needs. In addition nurses are not allowed to practice medicine legally without a MD license. If you don't understand your treatments or have any concerns about anything, please speak up, so you can be better informed.

    I work in dialysis as a tech but we don't give blood suppliments (or blood transfusion) with dialysis however we do give epogen or aranesp to maintain iron and H/H. so I don't understand when he says dialysis is normally given with blood transfusion. we only do blood transfusion when our patents are at a >7h/h.

  • @TheSylish

    @TheSylish

    My understanding of what he said is *if* they are trending critically low H & H they will normally give 2 units of blood. Could be wrong, just my understanding. It is also what I learned on my dialysis rotation.

Also you do NOT hold ALL meds the reason I say this they could be on anti-rejection meds my mom takes them for her NEW to her Liver & I tell ALL Drs & NURSES even if it is her last breath of air & if it is time for her meds you find a way to shove the meds in her PERIOD! Transplant teams would agree(Cont'd)
