Default settings I think. Perhaps you have a conflict?

A ship - frigate presumably - had a bridge???

I am watching this video after having a bit of a naval history jag recently (not my first): weeks of various historical works on sea power, maritime supremacy, whatever you want to call it. And so I just ran up Empire: Total War, which I haven't played for over 10 years. My god, the naval battles are garbage. The first thing I see is a third rate striking its colours because it's a bit separated from the flagship and there's a damn Frenchman nearby. Then one striking because it received a couple of volleys. And then the game implies I should use a 5th rates and brigs against line ships. What utter rot. Is this game better than that? Must be, surely. Ugh.

Hi Andrew, this game is FUN, but your comprehension of Naval combat in this era would I suspect far exceed my own understanding. Best bet watch me struggle to survive in a number of battles and then let me know :-)

@@SimUKUltimateRealism What he means is for some reason there's no number next to the like/dislike buttons indicating how many have pressed them.

You made some very bad decisions there. You had one of your cargo ships shot to pieces and didn't even realize it. Having them anchor in range of the coastal batteries was wuite silly, really.
