@@astrowolvez this is something I found from 1997. During the next holiday season, Annabelle’s Wish, a home video release, will help answer the wishes of sick children throughout the U.S. Ralph Edwards Films, producer of the animated video, and Hallmark Home Entertainment, distributor of the title, are partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fund the 100 wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. Consumer advertising and licensing and promotional tie-ins will support the effort. Annabelle’s Wish tells the story of a calf named Annabelle who wishes to bring happiness to the boy who cares for her. The home video will be available for sell-through in late October.

The same thing happened with my grandmother. She introduced me to Abbot and Costello, she had a special VHS set, and I would watch them all the time, especially Jack and the beanstalk. When she passed, my aunt was at the house when they were dividing her assets and she grabbed them for me. I still have them to this day even though I don’t have a player to watch them on. I did get a dvd version of Jack though ❤🥹

Okay. I've never seen this movie in my life, and it somehow made me cry like a baby. Seeing Annabelle literally living her whole life to the very end, not wasting another thought about her personal dreams and having a fulfilling life by making someone else happy, that just got me. It reminded me of the dog that raised me. Being the dog of my mother, she was 1y.o. when I was born, and she basically adopted me so that I had two mothers. This helped me very much while growing up. It made me appreciate animals more, I had someone to go to whenever human problems became too much and I had someone who never left my side. I was in my mid-teens when she passed away by my side. I think it may be better that I only now see it as an adult. As a child I didn't really grasp the concept of death, and what it means to live a fulfilling life. I think I wouldn't have understood the ending of the movie like I do now. I adopted a dog myself this christmas by the way.

Why does every movie need to have some crazy high stakes? I loved the movie as a kid because it was about real life situations that can feel big. The aunt never came across as nefarious, she simply felt having a kid around Christmas time is what she felt was lacking. Given her age in the cartoon, she might have never been able to have kids on her own now looking back or missed out due to being so focused on her career. I know the Grandpa doesn't really like her, but now as an adult I can sympathize since now I understand that family members grow apart for one reason or another. It seemed to me that the Aunt hated Country life, maybe she blamed the farm for killing her sibling off in the barn and for the loss of Billy's voice. Sure, they could have delved into this a little bit, but facts are that even cartoon characters might have some deeper inner lives that are more hinted at. Not all movies have to have some big bad. This was that kind of movie. It was comforting and it's profits went to a very good cause. It was also lovingly made by people who loved the story themselves. I mean, just look at the cast. If they didn't believe this would be a movie loved by generations to come, do you think they would have put as much heart into this as they did??

I know, for me, it reminds me of being like around 8-9 years old and sitting down to watch this VHS for the first time right before we left for my grandmother's house in Arkansas for Christmas. Where I was mentally at that time as a person. That feeling of excitement each year after until, eventually, VHS got phased out and I couldn't watch this cute little short unless it played on TV for the holidays. I think it's the feeling of missing being a child, honestly. Loss of innocence as we age sucks.

The main reason I remember this movie is because at some point, one of the bully kids says something like… “move! you stupid cow!”. That happened while our mother was cleaning the house, not paying attention to the movie, and I suppose the kid sounded like my big brother because she got super mad and started scolding him, like she was truly offended, she almost took the mop and cleaned his mouth right then. Of course we had to tell her it was the movie. 😅

The aunt wanted Billy so she could have 'picture perfect Christmas' but if that's like...the only reason why ask for full custody? why not just...invite him over for that day? It would suit her purpose...and she wouldn't have the responsibilty of taking care of the kid full time every day....I mean she clearly didn't want him before that...I'm guessing for that very reason. This movie is nice, it's just...I don't feel like the aunt is neccessary for the conflict in this. especially as we have another antagonist in that other farmer dude....

Am I the only person who recognized that she is old as eff? Like she most likely wanted full custody of Billy. In the end contract she specifically said she had the contract state she'd have full custody and was confident that it'd be "Tight as a drum". I don't think she was evil, she probably just missed out on having kids of her own or couldn't have any to begin with. As for not hanging about the farm? I felt she had some resentment towards the farm itself...that is where Billy's parents lived and died and where Billy lost his voice. I never saw her as a true Antagonist. This movie in fact never needed a big bad. In life we don't always have a big bad..that's what makes this movie special. It showed events that could happen. For instance, my sister lost custody to my niece before and she resented having to give up company to one of our aunts at the time. This movie was just really real for a cartoon vs something like 101 dalmations

I watched that movie last Christmas and the Christmas before that and I think it is a very wholesome Christmas movie. I think the parts I like are how people have been willing to sacrifice what they valued most in order to help those they cared about. How the Grandfather had to trade his late Daughter's Music Box to buy back the calf, how the calf gave up her dream to fly Santa's sleigh along with her voice so the mute kid could finally be able to talk, very wholesome stuff. I also loved the country-themed soundtrack.

Awwww this was my childhood movie my grandmother and I used to watch this all the time when she was babysitting me. Sadly I don’t remember what happened to the vhs tape but it’s such a sweet underrated movie I try to recommend it to people who are wanting to watch a good Christmas movie. Now I just watch it around the holidays with my grandma or by myself.

Oh man! I remember watching this movie at the church my mom worked at. She was a preschool teacher at a church that was also a school, but she only worked their for about a year or two. My sister and I had to come sit her in the early morning, and she would let us watch whatever movies the church/school had. ‘Annabelle’s Wish’ was one of them and I remember loving it.

I googled it and I’m actually surprised that the dog is NOT voiced by Frank Welker. (I mean the dog before he starts speaking English lol ) Dude has voiced pretty much every cartoon dog for decades (and a lot of other animals). He’s good at animal sounds. He’s currently voices Scooby.

I think it would have been more compelling if the aunt legitimately wanted him, maybe she didn’t want him at first cause she was young and could possibly do it. But now that she has made herself successful in the city she tries to take Billy home thinking it would be the best for him.

The film didn't need an antagonist, let alone a cartoonish villain like Edna. If it had been more about Billy's trauma and friendship with Annabelle leading into the altruism and Christmas wish sacrifice, it could've done well
