Also, I *immediately* knew this was post-Soviet, not even by the "post-collapse" animation style seen in early 2000's (tied to the downfall of Soviet animation; CDI Zelda and Mario were created by such castaway animators, and it is comparable), but by one specific gag. You see, when Bear imagines his future in prison as a "flamboyant gay" trope, he becomes a rooster. Or a "petukh" in Russian. "Petukh" in prison slang means exactly that - a man participating in soap-dropping-without-any-soap throughout his entire sentence. EDIT: the producer, as shown in the credits, is googlable. It is Yuri Volodarskii (spelling may differ), born in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR. From 1984 to 1996 he produced the comic group "Maski" (The Masks), which were EXTREMELY popular in both Russia and Ukraine. The fact that he is from Odessa explains so many nods to Jewish stuff - as Odessa has a prominent and vibrant Jewish community immortalized in post-Soviet folklore and anecdotes.

I am... amazed. This has some truly galaxy-brain references to American sport and culture, despite coming from the post-Soviet east. I’m still pretty sure Marv Newland did it first. It’s Bambi meets Godzilla. Everything else is a reference including the Godzilla ad. Marv’s film released in April 1969 and Python didn’t drop until October. Gilliam may have even seen Bambi meets Godzilla at an animation festival and still would have had plenty of time to animate his version. It’s not as obscure a reference as you might think. Marv has taught a LOT of animators, including myself, so there’s even a chance he taught someone who worked on this.

I believe the commercial at 30:00 is a reference to the 3 Tenors (Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras). They're singing an opera and there's even a "big lady" carrying the beer. I believe they were featured occasionally or at least referenced a lot in commercials in the 90s. They bear a resemblance to them (especially Pavarotti) and it would explain why they're randomly humans.

No joke, this was too much for me. I had to take several sanity breaks. This is by far the funniest thing I've seen in 2023, and likely won't be beaten by New Years. I don't know what's real anymore. Was this movie made by monkeys with extreme ADHD while they were on acid?

Well I'll say this: The fact that the fox in the movie is the person that was pulling the strings kinda makes sense. It might be the only thing I actually liked - the fact that this chaotic mess of a movie actually had someone blatantly making the chaos behind the scenes...and it's a fox. Doesn't help that she ended up reminding me of a character in a story I'm writing, so that's another plus. Everything else though, good...lord...

That movie was batshit insane but it made me laugh out loud multiple times, it's ridiculous but when it's not just being random grossout humour, random violence, nonsensically translated cultural jokes, the plot making no fucking sense or... antisemitism wtf?!...the absurdity of the shit going on can be pretty hilarious...I'm assuming that's what they were going for, like an even more deranged and adult-oriented Looney Tunes kind of thing, or a ridiculous shitpost in movie form

The Hebrew is sort of a Spaceballs reference. That film's title crawl ends with "if you can read this, then you don't need glasses". I think it's also because Mel Brooks is a prominent Jewish figure.

This is funnier if you're a Slav So basically, the Fox is a journalist type, and might have something going on with Bear on the side. She has somehow learned of the scheme to frame Bear, and helps him out basically. The whole "Biters are Jewish" seems to be an Odessa in-joke because historically the city had a gigantic Jewish population. Had the movie came out in 2003 I'd think it's a Roman Abramovich reference.

This is the greatest thing I've ever seen! The point of the fox lady is that she is a news reporter who makes the news happen, at least, that's how I see it. I'm pretty sure the coach of the Slashers was based off of Bill Belichick, who would've just become the coach of the New England Patriots the year this film came out, and I think the dog commentator was based off of John Madden, especially since he yells "THIS IS FOOTBALL!" at the end of the game. I'm pretty sure that was a thing that he did since Family Guy made fun of that in the pilot episode.

I think that musical number ending was like one of those music videos where the singer/band is edited into the scenes of a show/movie for the video. The best example I can think of is the music video for Angels with Dirty Faces by the band Sugababes. It was a reworked version of the Powerpuff Girls episode Nano of the North. They played it a lot on Cartoon Network.

Glad you finally watched this one, I recommended it a while back but I'm not sure if you took my comment into consideration...anyways, I remember watching this movie as a kid in the mid-2000s in one of those cable channels that only showed movies, it was shown dubbed in spanish (I'm from Mexico) and I vividly remember the voice of the bulldog narrator, sadly that dub is lost media because nobody remembered this movie but at least now more people are aware of it so we never know. Aside from the references you guys pointed out, this movie has inspirations from the 1980s Disney special Sport Goofy's Soccermania and the french animated series Zoo cup, modestly popular in my country. As for the movie itself I remember it looking "better", I won't say the animation is bad because you can clearly see that there was some effort put considering that the budget probably was pretty low, I mean it looks like one of those early 2000s internet animations. I loved the moments when they made visual gags or jokes that reminded me of classic Looney Tunes or the Tex Avery directed MGM cartoons, I really like the spirit of this movie and is kinda sad that many of your followers don't appreciate the zaniness of this cartoon and just point to the furry stuff or that some things are "inappropiate" (no shit, this wasn't made in the US the land of prudes, at least in the animation realm) and even you pointed out those faults even tho in your Panty & Stockings video you spoke against the modern animation audience tendency to outrage over stupid cartoons. Anyways, there's a lot to be said about this movie and at the very least I'm glad you brought it some attention as that was I intended back when I suggest you watch it like three years or so ago.
