My parents got married in 1960 at 22 years old and moved into a suburban Pittsburgh, PA neighborhood. They told me they would sometimes do the Twist with the neighbors across the street. I always smile and think of that when i hear this song. This song is just pure fun and joy!

This was the biggest song of that year. And is still remembered to this day. I love the way we don't see chubby checker in his own music video. Only from the point of view that we are involved in the fun. He doesn't need to be on the screen. He is letting the music do all the talking and shows us what this song is all about - 'come on..let's twist again!!!' I agree that Checker was an underrated singer and I also agree that this is a legendary song!!🎉🎉

Takes me right back to my second year in Med School in 1957. Makes me smile when I think of those innocent, naive yet highly enjoyable times. Well....maybe in truth they were not totally innocent and naive, but I sure enjoyed them.I did that damned dance so much its a wonder I didn't end up with bilateral dislocated hips. Thanks for posting this and bringing back happy memories to an old guy.

It’s so funny seeing this twist dance because my great grandfather who was born in the 1800’s was a dance professor and taught dancing with my great grandmother and the 5 oldest kids all worked in the studio. My grandmother and great uncle were the youngest but I have an article he wrote for the Baltimore Sun where people were trying to block these kinds of dancing from starting with the twisting and hips moving and he was all for it and looked forward to the progression of dance. He always felt dancing and music brought everyone together according to what I was told.

A time when people had class and manners, music was actually worth listening to and everything had character! What I would give to have lived in the 50s and 60s.

I love seeing this - especially of the older folks dancing their heart's out - and fully in step! I suppose that the very good looking young dancers shown here are now at (or even passed) the very age as the "oldsters" shown here - well, that's life, isn't it? Cheers to all of those shown in this fun clip.
