Difficult to explain to those not alive at the time how much fun this craze was. Once you learned this simple dance, you didn't want to stop. Everyone was laughing, smiling, having a great time.

@@carycimino7699 I remember the last of that transition to color programming. Sometimes an announcer would say the name of the show and say something like, "...now in color", and a still frame would have the words "in color" with a different color for each letter. At 75 i am now suffering with a. bad back and knees. Good old Twist and the 60s what an era.
This is first song I remember dancing to. This song was playing on the radio and our mother was having us dance to it. Our parents getting a kick out of watching us do the twist. They both gave it a shot to show us how to do it. This was in about 1960 when I was 3 or 4 years old. The 50s and 60s such a great time to be a kid and grow up.
I’m willing to bet the 60's-80's were truly somethin' else. What I’d give to experience music and culture how they did.
They played this song at prom, I Twisted so hard Chubby would have been proud.

Around the mid-1990's, Chubby Checker performed at a trade show here in California. One of my co-workers from the small company we worked at, jumped up on the stage (un-invited) and started twisting with Chubby Checker. Prior to this, she had a few adult beverages and decided "what the heck!" I was sure Chubby would have her removed. To my surprise, Chubby didn't seem to mind. In fact, they were bumping hips towards the end of the song. The entire audience enjoyed the impromptu performance. Chubby was a good sport.
Certainly one of the greatest songs of all time! Today's teenager cannot imagine how this song hit the people in 1960 and influenced them for their whole life. It was not only the music and the dance. It was a groundbreaking, happy and completely new feeling of life which no one has ever seen before (& maybe till today!)

What happy song! Sirius 60’s Channel 6 is asking, what is your feel good song? Well, this is it for me. How can it not be? May 2020.
Chubby has a powerful voice and the sax player kicks bootie!
My uncle is chubby checker. My grandfather Hans was his cousin and he is my uncle. I find this song for my grandma when I was 5 and she told me, “ this is your uncle sweetheart”. And I said, “ he’s amazing”!

I'm at chubby checker years and years ago and he seem to be a very friendly guy
The first song in history to ever go to #1 twice. I can see why, it’s one of the stickiest songs ever made. Thank you, Chubby Checker!

I'm not a dancer, but every time I listen to this song I have to move, doesn't matter how sad I am, this song always makes me happy, instantly.
This is a classic. Deserves to be the biggest song of all time on Billboard.

The #2 song of all time on Billboard and the first song to ever go #1 twice!
I got to meet Chubby C. at a book store he gave out autographs and almost he gave me a cd with his songs I will never forget him he is the nicest man I ever met. Since I told him I was a dj playing at a 50's 60's nightclub. I lot of the Twist were remakes to me it didn't sound like the original I am glad I have the original. 👍🎤🎶🎙
It’s so 🎉i love it… wonderful Performance
Words can't describe how much I love this video
