    I think it boils down to two things. First, salt content generates so many views or just gets a lot of traction, people are desperate for their channel to blow up off of a salt video or a Twitter salt video gets posted for engagement. It's been proven its the fastest way to grow your channel in this community. Next option is the more cringe one, the dead by daylight community is filled with chronically online weirdos who only play this game even though they don't even like it anymore, therefore they are eager to make other people miserable or cancel people because again, they are chronically online weirdos.

Though amung us joking aside 100% people get mad and need to vent. Let people say some dumb stuff so long as they aren't overly toxic and taking it too far. Chances are given a little time to think about it they would likely agree what they said was silly or wrong.

Anyone trying to act like they wouldn't be guilty of the same is being very sus.

  • @Sorenthaz
    @Sorenthaz2 ай бұрын

    DBD is a game that naturally leads to stress and venting is a natural form of stress release so we don't hold onto it. Which can lead to lashing out in anger or so on as that frustration is built up and has no outlet til it gets to be too much. And that's when you tend to get the really toxic stuff like folks screaming to unalive yourself or they'll use slurs. Humans straight up weren't built to contain stress and in ye olden days stress was regularly released through trying to survive, whether that meant chopping wood, hunting prey, gathering food and supplies... whatever was necessary to keep on living. It was a motivator and release came from physically doing things. Nowadays stress comes from a lot of potential sources and one of them is certainly playing a competitive game against other players. Stress can add up further if you're also trying to stream your gameplay to make a living. You can't really just do something physically to release stress, especially when the frustration is at something that isn't physical. So venting is the only healthy mechanism we have to release that stress outside of having a punching bag or stress ball lol.

    I think to a certain extent toxicity is a product of streaming. If I play Dead by Daylight in my free time and I start getting mad, I can just stop playing for the evening. If someone streams DBD for multiple hours a day as their job, they don't have the luxury of switching the game off when they're in a bad mood and it can lead to mounting frustration and eventual toxic outbursts. I notice this with streamers in other communities too, it's not just a competitive game problem.

Everyone will randomly blurt out frustrations, but I do think people who complain, bitch, and shit talk the whole match can be reasonably called out for it. I know whenever I start getting annoyed and saying shit randomly I notice it and consciously try to stop and I don’t even stream, very few people want to listen to something that’s meant to be entertainment instead just be endless whining.

People will act like being annoyed at a bad game or something that happened is tantamount to wishing death on people or something idk. You're not going to enjoy 100% of your time on any game, we find people getting mad at games relatable. At least, I thought that's why content like that was so popular. I really don't care if I win or lose a game. But that doesnt mean I don't cuss or get upset when I get smoked. I love this game. And I am very happy there isn't recordings of me while I'm playing this game

    I thought this was about me, I had an experience on Twitter literally today, I got scared, I’m being posted as in the wrong when there’s such a big and long story to it, albeit I was in the wrong at first, but after what happened, I got manipulated by said person portraying me as the bad guy.

    I disagree regarding post game chat. I think that's part of the venting process too. The frustrating one might feel doesn't disappear the moment the game goes to the score screen. We've all said things in a text that we regretted or didn't really mean. I don't see the post game chat as any different.

    Trolls like to verbally attack and plaster ones imperfections online to make themselves feel successful. Taking every opportunity to showcase your failures and inability to stay perfectly calm in a "competitive" situation. My only advice would be "Cyber bullying only exist if you allow it to". Show no emotions toward trolls. They feed off negative attention and energy. They'll eventually FK Off if they cannot get you to break.

    my only problem with people venting in games in general is, from the people ive talked to atleast their allowed to complain cuz its justified for them but im not, even tho my complaining is just me bitching that im playing bad.

    True. This is a tangent but if you are always blaming something other than yourself for losing in a video game you will literally never improve. Gotta be able to recognize your mistakes. Just see a lot of people like that.

    the difference between a streamer saying shit about a teammate and some regular person playing on their own is that the person on their own is saying this to themselves to vent, the streamer is literally calling people an idiot because they did something that they didn't like to about hundreds of viewers. And since this is the internet and since DBD streamers dont block out their teammates' names, they are more than likely going to get messaged by some unhinged viewer to shit talk them like "(This streamer) called you (this insult) haha"

    If it's like a serious influencer who endlessly talks shit on stream and encourages their chat to as well, that's one thing. That's bad for the community as a whole, and if people wanna call that out, go for it. In the vast majority of cases, these callouts aren't that at all. They're people with 50 subs who stream a few nights a week. Or someone having a normal one-off negative comment in the heat of the moment. Calling these people out is just drama farming. It's stupid.
