Lessons from the Art Collection of a Billionaire Businessman
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video Barbara and Morton Mandel recount their journey as passionate collectors of 20th and 21st-century art. Throughout their lives, the Mandels have acquired examples by Modern and Post War masters - from Pablo Picasso to Donald Judd. The collection’s breadth attests to the couple’s dedication to selecting only great works. Raising The Bar: Masterworks from the Collection of Morton and Barbara Mandel will be held on the evening of 16 May prior to our Contemporary Art Evening Auction.

Very expensive art has very little to do with taste. It is all about money laundering, donating expensive art to save taxes. It is a huge scam which the general public does not know. Even the big auction houses will have 'fake' buyers to drive up the cost. All this is very cleverly done. I watched a documentary on this.

Omg a documentary? You must be an expert. There is that side to the art market but this has everything to do with taste. These people could buy anything to save taxes and that kind of activity but they are clearly enjoying the pieces they purchase.
Joan Miro's art- Never understood it. (the abstracts like here) Even in art school...I remember "knocking" one off for textile design...I really don't get art and how it is valued..I think art in the 50's was REAL artists finding ways to simplify and push the button, and ending up with unexplainable shapes and color.. 10-15 million value on that? @1:17
Gorgeous
Very beautifully. I like it’s. I subscribed
The snobs (Art Dealers) don’t know about art more than the average person, they are here to make money, and nothing less, What they do is a massive price fixing scam that benefits wealthy collectors. The art is good because a small group of dealers and collectors decides that it’s good, Ones they do that the price goes up whether you like it or not. Galleries keep the price a secrete so they can change them depending on who the buyer is. If the gallery sells only to art world elites they will be considered a better brand, This means all the other art work they own will be worth more, Auction houses work exactly the same. The shady world of donating art The donation is a tax writes off so the collectors hire their own appraisers to determent the value the art they donate. In the end of the day the game is of few rich people passing money around, A small group of wealthy people defining what good art is, hilarious isn’t it?
@dpavlovsky

So true. This kind of "art" is just a means for the super-wealthy to move around their money, "legally". It has nothing to do with aesthetics, beauty, etc. It's just their currency. We use $20 bills. They use $Picassos and $Pollacks.
