Again, no one from this generation seem to understand context. Someone quoting rap lyrics from over 10 years ago as a teen is not "supporting racism." Well, unless you think songs with the n-word in them are racist. But then, you'd have to go after the person who wrote that song in the first place.

As a black guy, I really don't understand why people feel the reason to get offended because someone used the n-word around 2012 and back. It was a vastly different time and culture on the internet where everyone wasn't so politically correct and such snowflakes. I thought we moved past "canceling" people for tweets/comments they said when they were edgy teenagers. We've all said something edgy when we were young. I was extremely unpopular as a teenager. I was super grumpy, goth, sarcastic 99.9% of the time, my hygiene could have been better and I didn't value my friends nearly enough. Having grown up now I can 100% understand why no one wanted to be around me. I feel so honored that the few friends I had stuck by me even though I couldn't have been easy to be around. Kids are kids and some adults stay kids. But everyone deserves the chance to prove that they are worth your time.

I detested the second malicious usage, but when my black friends would call me the n word when greeting me, what was I supposed to do, say oh I'm sorry my friend, I cannot use such language as I fear offending you. Our brains are literally still developing as teenagers, the fact that it’s being held against people is just so sad. I personally never used the n word until the teasing and peer pressure got too much and then I’d say it when singing songs, but never just in normal language- the fact is I only did because my friends made it clear I was cramping their style (native and white friends) and I was lucky to get them as friends in the first place I was scared to lose them. 5 years later I’m matured and smarter and have cut ties with all those “friends” but the fact is a lot of teens go with the flow of what’s in and popular or of what their friends/peers are doing- cancel culture needs to be canceled itself- stop focusing on things form 10-15 years ago- that’s why this country has such a hard time the past is all anyone seems to care about! We’re supposed to learn from our past and move on and make smarter choices- not be punished and ridiculed for previously not knowing better/not having the capacity to care or think things through all the way.

I had a similar incident ngl. Something I had said when I was fresh out of my teen years came back and someone tried to utilize it against me. I am 27 (28 in march) and I remember being a tad uncomfortable when this person who I knew was trans came to me, a girl, asking things like "How do women wipe? What is it like to be pregnant?" (I was pregnant at the time) But because I wanted to be accepting and open minded, I explained what it's like, and that it isn't as spectacular as media portrays pregnancy and birth. When the topic came up about my future child's sexuality, I admittedly told them that "If he was gay, fine. But if you're asking me, as a parent, if I would be okay with my child destroying their body before they even understood it themselves, then no. I'm not okay with that." About a year ago, someone who wasn't even a PART of that conversation somehow got ahold of it. And they claimed that the trans person I had been getting interviewed by, said I was "transphobic, and that I was bragging and gloating about being a woman." No, I was being asked as a woman by a 'trans woman' what it's like to be a real woman. They just didn't like my honest answer of "It fucking sucks and I genuinely don't understand why guys want this." I didn't talk to the trans person again after that. I never realized why, til this random shit-starter pulled up really aged private messages between myself and this trans person. Apparently that one trans person who asked ME the uncomfortable questions about womanhood, got offended because I claimed to be firmly against self-mutilation/sterilization of children. The shit-starter tried to bait me into admitting I was some bigot, but I calmly told them that...whatever I said nearly a decade ago does not apply directly to the person I am today. Why? Because people change...with TIME. Situations and real struggles and circumstances force us to change for the sake of ourselves and our children. It forces us to think about what we really want for our next generation. Becoming a parent matured me greatly, and I love my son and I want to protect him from a world that wants to hurt him by making him hurt himself...

My ex girlfriend literally told me about some advice I gave her 10 years ago when I was 22 that made me raise my eyebrow and say “damn I said that!? Well I don’t agree with what I said at all so definitely don’t do that.” We say stuff when we’re young that we end up not agreeing with as adults and sometimes we forget that we even said that crazy stuff to begin with. So yes if you see something that a person said years and years ago and you can clearly see that they’re not the same person that they were back then we need to let things go.

As someone from Europe I find all of these tempests in a tea cup ridiculous. Have these people nothing better to do in their lives? Nothing constructive? Do they work or do they just sit around discussing some foolish people on Twitter who contribute nothing to society? Honestly, social media should be outlawed!

As Brett pointed out, this was intentional. Someone who hates at least one of them for likely highly personal reasons decuded to ruin the most important day in their lives. This is why xancel culture is so fucked up. Every angry egotist can end up developing a full on god complex with the ability to literally take away someone's ability to live.
