Fender forgot to chew up the fretboard, put finish blemishes everywhere, leaving polish compound in the joints, crack the neck pocket, weaken the headstock and figure out the Gibson trademark secret of poor tuning stability. They also forgot to over price it by $1k

There are far better channels dedicated to that task than Trogly here... He uses wire-wool to clean his fretboards, something no self-respecting lutheir would ever countenance. All those shards of rust-gathering steel strands stuck under the frets... Not forgetting the dust, or miniscule scratches everywhere. . Troglly is cool for 'general information' mostly about Les Pauls', though he does have a good wealth of knowledge on most of the top brands. And is very good at spotting scams and fakes. But when it comes to guitar maintenance/repair, look elsewhere.

These are quite an upgrade from what I remember as the Telecaster Deluxe. I'm glad you demonstrated the differences in this video. But, this is a good faith effort by Fender to put loyal Gibson users in a "comfort" zone. I think that's why you, and other Gibson aficionados like it so much. Nice job on this. Great demo tunes as well. Love it.

I was always confused why fender sells wide range hum buckers today as wide range even though they aren’t really wide range, they aren’t the CuNiFe magnets anymore they are just wax coated AlNiCo, it’s just really frustrating to me and now you can get the CuNiFe ones from the custom shop which is nice, but I just wish they didn’t just put a regular hum bucker underneath a wide range plate and call it a wide range hum bucker

  • @alanthompson3493

I think these are standard humbucker-size Shawbuckers, not the larger Wide Range HB's. In any case, Fender is now making real CuNiFe WRHB pickups with the original construction, only for a couple of guitars so far. It was just announced at the NAMM show. They finally were able to source the correct magnets, which they will also be the distributor for.

  • @Djarra

Last time I looked CuNiFe loaded replica pickups were $500 each, the originals were made for Fender by Lace (although designed by Seth Lover), and they came up with the sensor as CuNiFe magnets were getting hard to source.

Thank you for including the both pickups on setting in the tone demo. It’s annoying as hell when players only go back and forth between the bridge and neck and pretend the option of using both doesn’t even exist. It’s even more annoying when they do that when demo-ing a guitar with two volume and two tone nobs, ignoring the tones that can be created by adjusting those when both pickups are on.

To put that large headstock in perspective with the times just watch a few old Partridge Family reruns. Wide ties and extremely large shirt and jacket collars were the norm. Elvis's costumes of the same period also sported the huge oversized collars to go with his 70's period long and wide side burns. Eyeglasses from the 70's were also oversized frames. Elvis, Elton John and John Denver all wore big 70's style eye wear. Perfectly in tune with the large wide headstock's of the day.

I have an all Warmouth Tele, gorgeous figured maple cap over mahogany body, with SD Tele Antiquities. The LP style body in Tele format adds a certain versatility and richness, plus killer sustain.

Love it! I built my own Troublemaker partscaster, feeling (well, I menat looking like) more Gibsony as I used a mahogany neck from a Les paul model. A nice guitar for sure. Thanks!

FYI - the blue color on the other Troublemaker Tele is “Ice Blue Metallic” not Pelham Blue. Also the poker chip does not come installed on the guitar.

You are actually somewhat incorrect about the poker chip. It does not come installed on the guitar. Much like how the mirrors don't come installed on the Jimmy Page tele. It also only came with the iced tea burst one. It was not included with the ice blue one.

krose2506 - I acquired the ice blue metallic troublemaker from Wildwood guitars the day they received it from Fender. It came with the pocker chip as part of the case candy but was not installed on the guitar.

@@thehighadvisor5731 Nice to meet another troublemaker owner. I thought they were going with a different vibe with the ice blue one because of the different stained back. Why I chose the iced tea finish over it.

I they did have a carved top Tele the “Special Edition FMT”... it was odd as it came with black chrome hardware (not the same as black) and it did have two humbuckers, but only master volume and tone with a switch... more like a PRS style as the knobs were slightly inset into the top. The Black Cherry Burst was a cool color.

Based on looks alone, I wouldn’t be the least bit interested but the tones you got out of that thing were just delicious. It retains some of the sparkly, chiming sound typical of Fenders but with greater warmth and thickness especially in the midrange. I think the combination sounds absolutely gorgeous and would be very gratifying to play.

i love it! Great review. IMHO, it would look even sexier without that scratch plate & different knobs. I'm a bit of a trouble-maker myself, so I dig it.

also seems to incorporate some elements of the 80s Elite Telecasters, especially that style pickguard and electronics lay out (different pickups though)

People didn't know what to make of these in the 70s and they've been mostly ignored since, but since about 2005 people are starting to figure them out. I have 20 guitars some in the five digits and my '75 Tele Deluxe is probably my favorite. I love the sound and feel, not so much the looks, and wish I could put this pickguard on the one I already have.
