📚 Description: The final Troublemaker Telecaster has finally been released by Fender! PARALLEL UNIVERSE VOLUME II TROUBLEMAKER TELE® DELUXE BIGSBY®
In today's video we will unbox and take an indepth look at this new Troublemaker tele and most importantly go over it's rather tricky control layout so we know what all the push/push pots do!
I've been having issues with my GoPro loosing footage and audio while recording. I initially unboxed two of these this episode, but that footage was corrupted.

    Thanks for the review Austin. I'll agree with you about the binding, multi-ply would have been great. All the switching options are nice but maybe too complicated. Would have been nice to see Les Paul Black Beauty pickup switching with each pickup being able to be tapped. Still a nice effort by Fender that kind of falls short. This Black version makes the cream version look more desirable.

    @@crypticreality8484 in fact fender can build a literal les paul as long as the headstock and name are different. a whole cottage industry existed to do this, from PRS to Collings to Heritage to ESP to, i think, squire in the early 2000s. and that is just the bigger names in the no longer cottage industry, for instance, the appetite for destruction LP was a luthier made copy.

    @@RJ-vv8he I have never owned one because 95% of the ones I tried were shitty guitars. Shoddy fretwork, tooling marks, paint on the binding, terrible tuning stability, and uninspiring sound... I've seen older Gibsons that were (very) expensive but cool guitars though, I'm mainly talking about what Gibson has put out in the last 15 years. Also I don't like weight relief. Not saying I'll never own a Gibson but I have yet to try one that speaks to me. In the meantime my japanese Tokai is wayyyyy better than the Gibsons I've tried for a fraction of the price. And since I'm french I couldn't care less about the american pride so I'm not biased.

    The switching scheme is simple; here is the entire scheme in a few sentences: 1. The selector switch works as on a Les Paul. 2. Activating the first volume knob's switch splits (not taps) the neck pickup. 3. Activating the second tone knob's switch adds the middle pickup in parallel with the bridge pickup. 4. Activating the second volume knob's switch splits (not taps) the bridge pickup.

  • @Robstafarian

    @Robstafarian

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@joermnyc Firstly, coil splitting is not synonymous with coil tapping (this guitar uses coil splitting). Secondly, the middle pickup is not wired directly to the output jack: this is why it is impossible to use the neck and middle pickups together.

I too would have liked to be able to split the middle pup and also add it to the neck pup. I have an Epi LP Custom Pro. Only two pups but you can split either or both and also has a push/pull phase switch that works with both pups on. Sounds amazing!

I knew the Fender three pickup Telecaster Parallel ii with Bigsby piqued my interest. I also knew that it was a jillion bucks. That said. PERFECT... WORTH IT... I screen-shot Trogly's nice chart on how the controls work (as I have yet to see it elsewhere and Fender has taken the guitar's page down for now). ESPECIALLY Since it (apparently) has nice AlNiCo iv magnets in it! Thank you for the video and for finding out the coil specs. Warmest regards, Jim of Vivid Peace

    I think the discoloration of the pickups is just where the plastic covering wasn't tight to the metal and allowed some air in there. My guess is it won't take long before you don't notice it any longer as the rest of the gold finish takes on the same oxidation.

    Hey Trogly, great vid. Always love a good Les Paul/Tele crossover. You should try and get your hands on one of the Korean made Fender Telecaster Custom FMT HH models, particularly the later run of Korean ones with the Seymour Duncan pick-ups. Maybe for a Fender Friday or Trade Tuesday episode. They're a great 'modern' take on a LPxTele with a beautifully set neck and a slimmer, contoured body and really rock hard although the wider D-shape neck is not to all tastes. I have an earlier Korean one in which I have replaced the original Fender pick-ups with some Dimarzios. It's an absolute joy to play (if you like the neck) and I love the look of it in the cherry red with the flame maple top and the bound neck with giant 'full moon' abalone inlays. Gorgeous

    Beautiful guitar 😃 And not to sound like an a hole, but you don’t tap a humbucker.. single coils are sometimes tapped to get a lower output, humbuckers are coilsplit 😊

    This reminds me of a BC Rich Rich Bich I used to own. It had so many controls on it that there's no way you could try and use them in a gig. Just like this one. You would have to have a chart with you on stage to set it up between songs. But nice in the studio. This in one of those guitars a session musician would take with him. So no matter what the engineer wanted, you could deliver the tones with ease

    Nah, it's the third pickup that wrecks it. I've always thought the same with black beauties aswell. But I have to agree that I prefer stoptail to any tremolo on a Gibson / Gibson inspired guitar like this one. Two pickups + stoptail...and while you're at it , make it Pelham Blue like the 2018, and I'm happy!

    I have an 18. There’s 16 push-pull options and I only use 2. Nothing special and out of phase. Weirdly there’s a bridge bypass which no matter what selects the bridge pickup no matter your switch position. And then there’s the 2 coil taps

    Just to clarify, this guitar uses coil splitting rather than coil tapping (contrary to what you may have heard, there is a difference). As for when to use coil splitting, making that decision does not require more thought than you would use to decide which pickup(s) to use for a particular part: split the coils if you want less output, less mids, and more treble without changing the "voice" as much as changing pickups would.
