Ever try Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt"

I’ve probably listened to this seven million times but just now it just dawned on me how much I appreciate how that dude just fuckin nailed the harmony with a sledgehammer and absolutely played the ever loving shit out of that banjo.

Seriously is one of the best covers I've ever heard of any song. This is beautiful

Tough for a cover to surpass the original. Ryan Adams did it with Wonderwall and they’ve done it here. No question.

Absolute favourite Halloween/October song. A story about Werewolves and Vampires. About losing control to your inner urges in the night and transforming. Beautiful

It's been 9 years since I found this gem, and this is still my favorite song ever.

A great cover doesn't try to sound like the original, it tries to pay homage to the song writer by infusing it with a little of your self. This is a perfect cover.

+Robert Bartelmes True Detective was her break so you wouldn't have heard of her. I read she knew somebody who knew somebody etc that was putting together the soundtrack for True Detective. She played for them and.....here we are.

Lera Lynn played this version of Wolf Like Me on her concert last December here in Europe. Easily one of my best concert moments ever. Simply amazing.

His name is Ben Lewis and he is incredibly talented as well

It proves that a good song is good in any genre

I find myself coming back to this so often. For me, TVtR's performance on letterman is the most electric rendition of wolf like me. This however, is just as good IMO, just different.

12 years later and your cover and performance is as raw and heart wrenching as the day you both recorded it. Just beautiful.

Still my favorite rendition of this song! I wish it was in iTunes! I have the other version by Lera Lynn and it’s great, but I love the tempo and simplicity of this one!

I love this cover, and the original at the same time. The original is very sensual. It makes me think of someone who is cursed, and trying to tempt someone into their lifestyle (or curse, if you want to imagine) because he is lonely. Lera Lynn's version makes me think of someone who is outcast, and trying to convince someone to share her lifestyle because it can help them both feel whole . Same lyrics, but two very different results.

Still one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen...

Every single word of this song speaks to my soul. This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life, I could probably sit and talk about it for hours.

You have to view songs like this separately and not as covers. You have to accept that a cover is never going to be like the original. You just have to appreciate the artistic rendition of such songs. They did a great job. I love this version.

So I know this song. I thought I knew this song . Her vocals are such where I can hear the words and SO for the first time I know the words , the parallels to addiction are SO apparent it's been given a depth by the simplicity that I had not known this song could reach. Real tears. Bravo.
