Leopard Hunting at Mt. Galai Tanzania

Спорт

Monster leopards that are rarely hunted in the mountains above the Serengeti are chased by host J Alain Smith and his Masai trackers as they try and lure a legendary domestic goat killer that has been wrecking havoc on the local village from his lair at the top of Mt. Galai!

    J. Alain Smith: Just to inform you! The Zebra without grey strips is called "Mountain Zebra" or Hartmannzebra (Equus zebra), the Zebra with grey in the with stripes is called Plain´s Zebra or Chapman's zebra (Equus quagga). There are some other species to, like the Burchell's zebra (Equus quagga burchellii), the Crawshay's zebra (Equus quagga crawshayi) or the Grévy's or imperial zebra (Equus grevyi). The Grant's zebra (Equus quagga boehmi) is the smallest of the seven subspecies of the plains zebra. This subspecies represents the zebra form of the Serengeti and Massei Mara.

    Where stalking becomes walking, just stroll up and shoot. And so long as you have your 375, the Zebras are in trouble. But, Al, after watching this video, my money goes for the zebras once you swap to the spear... Ouch! That leopard was incredible and then tracking it in the dark... Your team was all in, that's for sure. Africa is on my bucket list! Take care and be well.

    @@JAlainSmith No I just meant that Cougars typically weigh 200lbs in areas where there is abundant prey like British columbia, patagonia, north america etc. I'm not meaning to be prying but many sources list Cougars as the larger animal with consistent weights of upto 220lbs. You'd be hard pressed to find a 220lb leopard. Cougars also kill adult MOOSE. I do not think you've hunted a Cougar before mr Alain and it is because of this reason that you downplay them. They may not charge you like a leopard but they are apperantly the larger animal!

Perfect. Luckily the cat tapped out and the PH didn't have to sort it out with the scatter gun.

    J. ALAIN, fun videos, my friend. i also know you to be an excellent hunter, not a shooter. fortunate and apparently, decently balanced. i expect that's not common. thanks for sharing your example and enjoyment. best wishes

    why don t u take the safety catch OFF each time as u put rifle onto the shooting sticks and into the shoulder. like swing up a shotgun u push the safety in one . it seems u get into position then take u re hand back off the rifle to flip the safety catch.

    LOL so he spends all that money to kill a zebra not to mention the equipment involved but only has a $12 USD prize pool for 1st place in the spear throwing contest. That's really poor should've gave them A LOT more.

    That's probably all he had left, Lol. Actually, a lot has been written about the detrimental effects of lavishing money and high tips on the African staff. I wont try to explain but Robert Ruark and Peter H. Capstick have both expounded on it. Its really very interesting. Check it out in Ruark's "Horn of the Hunter" and Capstick's "Safari: The Last Adventure"

    They are open for hunting in countries with good populations. The fees charged for sustainable use hunting of a select few goes towards protecting them from poaching. Very successful program and if more countries such as Kenya would do the same wildlife would thrive there as well, which it does not outside of the Parks.

  • @pamtnman1515

    @pamtnman1515

    3 жыл бұрын

    probably because they are not really vulnerable. African wildlife is so politicized now, it doesn't matter what species it is being hunted, someone somewhere will falsely claim the animal is rare/ endangered/ almost extinct
