Спорт

While cape buffalo hunting along the Rufiji River, J. Alain Smith stumbles upon the domain of a huge deadly crocodile! How can you pass up a monster like this?!

I have nothing against hunting but didn't like the way that he could just switch from Buffalo to Croc because it was there. I love seeing large dominant males of any species and for some reason that just seemed like killing rather than hunting.

@@Klaatu-ij9uz Essential for the hunters - how? And true - it's essential for the outfitters and select government officials to make a lot of money, but that's it. If you think the native peoples of the regions benefit financially in any way from big game hunting, you're wrong. And additional wildlife preservation resulting from this practice is enormously exaggerated. The faulty economics behind this has been widely exposed.

I've seen videos on PBS and other Nature programs where they spend months and even year's searching for certain giant crocs that hide themselves very cleverly. They just get a short glimpse of them for video and pics for their programs. I think it would be quite a challenge to hunt a world's record croc. We've done it with just about everything else.

As Mr. Smith said in reply to another comment, that croc had been harassing local fisherman. Assuming that is true, I can assure you that it is indeed a very big deal to the locals, as they can now fish to support themselves and their families with less risk. As far as the weapon, rifles are definitely easier, which is a good thing. The easier the gun is to use, the more likely you are to make an effective, humane shot. That croc did not suffer; he was killed very quickly and efficiently. Besides, I’m not even sure if shotguns are legal for hunting big game, such as crocs, even with heavy slugs, because they are likely not powerful enough to kill such an animal reliably. Unless you prefer wounded animals to dead ones, I would think twice before criticizing a clean kill for being “too easy.”

@@nmysights0185 Well it costs from $7000 to $20000 or more to hunt a croc, and you are not going to use a shotgun which would not penetrate. You use a rifle that will anchor the reptile to the bank where it can be recovered. If you let it get into the water it may not be recovered and you STILL HAVE TO PAY THE MONEY.
