    if you ever go back to Tanzania, I recommend you try and bring some battery-powered bug zappers that are shaped sort of like a tennis racket. nothing is more satisfying than zapping a mosquito or fly and hearing a nice "pop."

    Lol didn’t see much hunting in this, only baiting and killing. A true hunt is the art in tracking, stalking and finally taking the right shot at the right time. On another note, what is the leopard population in that area and how do they identify the right animal to shoot? I presume that the leopard population is fairly sparse in that area from the comment that they were setting baits for a few weeks before sighting that leopard.

  • @JAlainSmith

    @JAlainSmith

    Lots of leopard in the area. We had 6 male and 13 female on baits. Waited for an old male to harvest. It’s not possible to stalk a leopard otherwise we would. You might want to watch some of my other shows to see “your type of hunt”.

  • @nuffsaid7952

    @nuffsaid7952

    Hmmm, I see your point but leopards are an elusive cat unlike lions. It would have been a good idea to show the other leopards that were bypassed due to being young or females so the viewers would be left in no doubt that this old male was specifically chosen due to his old age and being past his breeding prime. Simply doing that with the explanation would carry a lot more credibility for an ethical hunt. There are many that stumble onto these hunting videos that aren’t hunters and don’t understand that the animals that are hunted are chosen due to factors that make them no longer beneficial to the survival of the species or that they have become a problem animal. Educating those individuals by a simple explanation as to the animal chosen would go a long way towards dispelling the myth that all hunters are simply killers without any ethics. Most hunters are very ethical and are driven by conservation of the animals and their habitats.

    @@nuffsaid7952 great points. I’m trying to keep the shows short and entertaining to hunters though and not trying to educate anyone. We do throw some education in here and there but it’s not my goal! Thanks for watching!!!

    J Alain Smith it's a pity that you didn't show the full selection process and the other leopards that you passed over in selecting this old male. I fully support ethical hunting and conservation of all wildlife and habitat and as a subscriber I get the impression that you are one of the majority of ethical hunters from your videos on KZread. I have seen other hunts for leopard that was done without baiting, but using the old track, stork and take the right shot. That is a far more difficult and time consuming way to hunt leopard, but when looking at hunting a management old male, then the bait is a more efficient method for sure. I would like to see more of the selection ethics and sequence on your hunting videos, and I'm sure that others would like to see that too. Look at it as an opportunity to educate those that have the totally wrong idea of hunting and think that hunters are cruel killers and not the conservationists that the majority actually are. Many are unaware that in many areas the numbers of the wild animals need to be managed to protect the habitat and the different species. In some cases this means culling elephant, giraffe etc. And what those are also unaware of is that hunters will pay a kings ransom to hunt these management animals which the money goes back into the protection and management of these animals and their habitats. Cheers and looking forward to the next video.
