Lenovo LEGION GO Cheap Storage!! - Sabrent Rocket Rugged NVMe Extraction

Ойын-сауық

The Legion go takes 2242 nvme. Its cheaper to buy an external and extract then buy. I test the extracted drive and compare to the normal one.

I’m interested to see if the Go works with double sided. I know a lot of laptops/compact devices are 1 sided only.

I remember extracting 2.5 inch or 3.5 inch drives and it being cost effective. I didn't think SSD's would get to the same point.

Like to see a video on this upgrade. I'm putting in a 2230 with an adapter. Not sure if i need to clone the original ssd first. Thanks

I ordered the Visiontek 2TB as it is PCIE gen 4. Plus I saw it for sale by Lenovo and Dell, so it must be decent. Got it off of Amazon though.

Is the ssd 2230 faster than 2242? I might considering buying from AliExpress which would be slightly cheaper...

Here is the thing people miss. Synthetic benchmarks mean relatively nothing. Gen 4 is often slower than Gen 3 if the drive is just straight up inferior This drive is is Gen 3 but is TLC (absolutely critical) and has massive cache (thus can sustain extremely long writes). I have Gen 4 2230 drives on hand, some even shown, but in real world use they simply cannot match this Sabrent ssd. There are extremely high end 2230 like the sn770, but they will cost a fortune. In the end I’ll be using and loving this cheap, large, TLC drive with proven write endurance over a 2230 that can’t keep up

Yes I had it in there for a couple weeks. I just experimented with a 4tb 2280 for fun The sabrent here is superb. It’s now inside my laptop for the time being. Overall a great ssd

it wont make any difference. As you can see in the testing in this video, speeds are quite good. Also this sabrent drive is able to maintain VERY good sustained writes due to TLC and cache. ive shown in other videos that gen 4 vs gen 3 kinda means nothing at all. For example, the sabrent rocket 4tb NVME is *just* a gen 3 QLC drive. but it absolutely spanks the "faster" *gen 4* crucial p3 plus in real world use

Just be sure the drive doesn’t run super hot and you’ll be good to go. Also double check the max speed of your SSD adapter. I tested this adaptor with a 7000 MB per second NVME and it was limited to gen speeds.

gen 4 vs gen 3 doesnt mean much. In this video i show extremely good write endurance. Typically a superb drive like this with large cache and TLC will absolutely spank a "faster" gen 4 drive. ive shown this in several videos with different drives. long story short, gen 3 vs 4 means very little without expanding on the cache size, real world performance, etc.
