    Legolas is a different race of elf all together. The elves of Rivendell will be a mixture of silvan elves and half-elves like Elrond and Eowyn, whereas Legolas is Sindar. A much more ancient race of elf... so likelihood is yes they will speak differently.

    @@alaabadran3705 Tbf he sounds very similar to an english person trying to speak welsh, which the language is based off when pronouncing words and letters. There is a few times when he should have been saying a letter the welsh way but fel into English. Viggo can speak at least 6 languages, so has more ability to pronounce the letters which Orlando may never had come across or used. English people usually find it really hard to pronounce welsh words and letters simply because, some are entirely new to them and is hard to learn when not learning from a young age.

    For those complaining about the difference between Aragorn's and Legolas's pronunciation of Sindarin, see LoTR, Appendix F, 1st footnote: "In Lórien at this period Sindarin was spoken, though with an 'accent', since most of its folk were of Silvan origin..." Note that Legolas, though not of Lórien, is also Silvan, so likely had a similar 'accent'.

    Tolkien used sources from Germanic and celtic culture when i wrote the books. The name Gandalv forexample is a germanic name. You can see it in all of the things like the names, languages, clothing, art..... I feel that tolkien used the beauty of ancient cultures, mixed them toghether and created something amazingly wonderful.

    I'd say mostly Welsh. Except for a few character differences, a few pronunciations (like "y" being an "oo" rather than a "ih") and the grammar rules, very similar. Especially the pronunciations on the majority of words and the accent the sound brings on the speaker. Finnish in grammar, I believe.

  • @AysarAburrub

    @AysarAburrub

    7 жыл бұрын

    Here are the reasons why that's true, in my opinion: 1- The story of LOTR was more mature, and meant for a more mature audience. 2- LOTR was made into three movies for three books, Not 1 book stretched over 3 movies 3- LOTR was made out of passion, The Hobbit was made as a moneygrab 4- LOTR used real actors and not as much CGI as The Hobbit Im sure I can think of some more reasons, but those are the major ones i think.

  • @thatweirdgirl8466

    @thatweirdgirl8466

    Aysar Aburrub They tried to use more real actors (mainly for Azog) but they didn’t like the way he looked. They wanted him to be way more intimidating and they thought they couldn’t get that point across with special effects makeup so they CGI’d him. With Dain Ironfiot though I was like what the actual hell? Every other dwarf looks great with a real life actor and you had to CGI him?

    If anyone here wants to learn elvish or the actual language "Sindarin" there are 3 major options to master it easily: 1 - Learn Welsh (Sindarin is inspired in Welsh and u can pronounce Sindarin easily if you learn Welsh) 2 - Learn Portuguese (My native language is Portuguese and the only problem is that is one of the hardest languages to learn.. Altough i can tell from experience, if you do speak and PRONOUNCE well portuguese u can talk any language in the world (welsh is better because the words have some similarities, but i learned Sindarin quite easily i must say, u just gotta put effort and dedication) 3 - Actually try to learn, and give your best everyday, if you do it no matter the language u speak, u will accomplish and master SINDARIN :) Hope ive helped anyone who wants to learn Sindarin, there is even a "elvish" dictionary online, if you want it, just ask in the comments ill send the link Bye! or Better: Novaer! I sometimes think "maybe not" because I remember in the book, Legolas found the Noldor strange to him, as was their tongue (Quenya, which they found to be far more beautiful than Sindarin). But then, maybe as a prince learning ONE more Elvish language couldn't have been such a bad idea for him.

    I like to think that Legolas speaks an over-enunciated Sindarin which is slightly off because Mirkwood elves have a different accent, and have to shout orders from distances while in the forest, so they can't afford to make it pretty. And since Aragorn was raised by Elrond (who was arguably raised by Maedhros and Maglor) it's conceivable that Elrond learned Fëanorian Quenya (which has a bit of a lisp, theoretically) and in turn taught that different pronunciation to Aragorn, and then the accent carried over to Sindarin. It's at least a better thought than saying Orlando Bloom just can't pronounce elvish like Viggo can (which is sadly true, not that I could do much better).

    Because legolas from a royal family and he’s a prince it’s like an special accent for his royal family they don’t speak too fast but they speak slowly like a sign of wisdom. You can watch The Hobbit movies ElevnKing Thranduil father of legolas he speaks the same way slowly with gentle voice it’s like as a said a sign of wisdom and it’s a special accent for them.

    @@Sunny-il7zr No you're absolutely correct. Sindarin has different local accents and variations. In fact, when Frodo was in Lórien, he didn't even recognize that the local Elves were speaking in Sindarin, and thought that they were speaking in Silvan Elvish.
