When filming this I forgot about set 60215, the fire station from 2019. That one had the same price and a very similar layout, but the 2022 version definitely feels like a better value. Neither can be compared to obviously larger $100+ stations of the past (accounting for inflation, as we must).

I loved the 2019 station as you could click in the dock from 60213 Dockside Fire in multiple connection points on the front or right side, just made a lot of sense with the jetski and boat. I do like this heli over the 2019 drone tho. But a combination model of 2019+2022 might work great as overall the building uses a similar style.

To me, the 2019 version felt like a better deal. More fire station, less vehicles and that's exactly what I want when buying a fire station. Of course I know that this is a better playset, and I respect it for that.

I see why Lego have gone younger with their City sets but it does kinda suck for anyone looking to integrate the sets into a more realistic Lego city

Love the colors but honestly, miss the old fire trucks with more detail like City set 60002

Jang, I've been watching for about 5 years, your content is amazing. Much of my lego city is inspired by you. You deserve all of you subscribers and viewers.

Haven't watched the whole video yet, but my initial impression is the new 2023 set is better in every way. The only thing I like about this is the garage door

I grew up with early 90's lego, and I feel like lego took a turn by adding all the shooting playfeatures which I understand in a way, but I think the evolution of those playfeatures start to detract from realism! I remember having a most simple red firefighter helicopter from 1991 or so, which used 2 hose piecies and a simple cone nozzle at the ends, I had so much fun with it just imagining the water jetting out etc! I feel like today's lego not only detracts from realism and looks, but also the imagination! Idk, I might just be an old nagger haha! What do you guys and girls think?

A video of all these City sets with road plates together would be nice to see. School, hospital, police station and fire station.

Good catch on the clear blue window piece. Scuffs are getting ridiculous, some sets I get there isn't a single "clean" clear piece. Hopefully they've figured out how to overcome it. I love the vibrant yellow for firefighters, my hometown has its fire engines painted a "lime green" colour (very similar) because the bright colours are the easiest to see through smoke and at night.

I really like the tall sloped aesthetic of the garage door and structure. Would be good to have carried that throughout the rest of the building.

Oh my! A turret who’s actually usable, I love it. It pretty much redeem that stick out like a sore thumbs shooter . On the station itself, seems like we’re paying that nice garage by a lack of stud footage/ details on the interior space.

I've always loved Lego fire station sets and the theme itself as a whole, this station is not bad, a little small, and it lacks a few more details inside, and I'm wondering if that new vibrant yellow color would shine with a black light, it really looks like it could! Very cool review, Jang!

The UK price seems pretty reasonable, especially considering CITY sets can usually be picked up with at least a 25% reduction after a while. I'll keep my eye out for a discount on this one. It's £5 cheaper than the 2019 set (60215) and although the garage is less substantial, you get the road plate and small terrain builds which add a lot of appeal. I would prefer the grass areas across the street to have straight edges for ease of integration with other sets. And the 'grass' ground floor of the building seems odd, like a throwback to 1980s standards. The fire engine is quite nice, but I prefer the one in 60214 Burger Bar Rescue (once the unsightly water cannon is modded away).

Having the pole go all the way to the top floor would have required a really long Technic rod, one that I have no idea if they've made before. I agree about the minifigure tools, though; that box in the truck was quite empty! Could have had one of those big saws or something to represent a fire hose nozzle. Even an SCBA tank would have been nice.

Would have to agree with you, Jang, that the value of this set compared to the LEGO City police station for 2022 is less so, to be sure. But not by a large margin. It definitely needs more minute details in accessories and interior detail especially. BUT, I like the vibrancy of this set, despite the lack in detail the colors are eye-catching and eye-pleasing and for me that’s a big draw for LEGO these days and they nailed it with this set.

I thought the main Lego City Wave from the beginning of last year in 2021 was absolutely amazing and unmatchable. But then this year, they definitely proved that they could essentially strike lightning twice. I feel like this along with the most recent previous Fire Station set is a near perfect balance of size, price, pieces, and stuff to do. My biggest complaint is that once again the main building of the fire station itself is still REALLY LACKING in depth. But I also feel like that's always been an issue in Lego City building sets in general. But it's also a problem that Lego has DEFINITELY gotten better at fixing. Plus, three stories and a little mini elevator is honestly all I can ask for. But I think probably the best way Lego could fix this is to continue doing what they are currently testing out in Europe with re-releaseing different sections or parts of different previously discontinued sets and sell them separately as add ons that ate compatible with the standard Technic Peg and Hole Brick modular Attachment points. Because then not only can sets like this be more affordable but can also get away with being made smaller but with more specific detailing and specialization. Combine this new kind of re-releases of parts of older sets and this new smaller middle scale of buildings combined with the new road plate System being far more versatile and potentially used for building structures themselves in addition to roads or ground terrain and I honestly think that Lego City in particular might just be entering a new sort of golden age of many different options of sets in terms of variety, affordability, good design, and playability as well as making it easier for kids to build their own city layouts and encouraging experimentation and customization regardless of age. And that is something truly incredible that Lego City in particular has definitely needed more of. Also, can we talk about just how awesome this new modern/retro classical Styling of architecture for these more recent buildings. And the fact that this fire engine is essentially just the new Rosenbauer All EV Fire Engine and transporter that's being rolled out to L.A.F.D for testing right down to the exact shaping and Colors? I'll definitely be trying to get this set along with the new Police station. 😁🚒

Love the fire truck, except the cannon on top, but I get it. I think it’s a better play set for kids than the police station. The layout feels more effective.

As an adult, that cannon setup is super simple and actually kind of ingenious. I quite like it as a TOY, which is what this is.

I agree with the kitten having a bit of a canid face. With a different color, the mold should be able to pass for a newborn/baby fox.

I think this set is quite good for its age range. Aside from the water cannon, the firetruck is good, really nice garage, overall building looks good. My favourite part is the minifigs.

Multiple sets can add on the garages easily with the pin hole. I plan to add my 2019 station to this as it has a garage side wall/window and a similar building style.

I wonder if LEGO took inspiration from the 1994 Flame Fighters set (6571) for this set, since the building layout immediately reminded me of that. I still have it, I should build it again some day.

I can't believe it, but I actually want both this year's police station and fire station. Small has been a draw for me since my plans to build a town layout, and this isn't the first time LEGO has made such small police/fire stations, but these are actually good sets! That said, I do feel the vibrant yellow is overdone on the vehicles - hi-vis doesn't have to be blinding, does it? The plate-high cool yellow they did before would've sufficed. And I don't like that Freya McCloud doesn't come with her mug anymore.

I prefer this fire station than older ones because of road plates also you can modify the interior With firefighter accessories packs from magazine etc 😊

I very much agree with your view. It is not bad, but compared to the police station the lowered price is so much more visible in the overall design and play value. The garage itself looks nice with those angled pieces, but the tower is just plain boring. And everything else okayish at best.

So my gut take is that due to adults having many sets these days dedicated to them, they are simplifying the city line and emphasizing children with a distinct exclusion of adult sensibilities. It seems to me like the city line was its most complex through the 2012-2019 time (These years are not exact by any means) and now they don't have to make sets that are split between adults and children. They probably assume adults can make much better fire sets if they wanted to with MOC's anyway. My second guess is that this will not be as well recieved and the slightly more complex sets will return due to demand.

The only thing I feel they should have added was a place for gear and beds. If the engine did not take up so much space, a person could make a few storage racks or Bins for the sides and maybe even some simple beds for the guys to sleep overnight. As I see a lot of these new sets like this or the police station set, it feels like they are more like starter sets to get you going and you customize as needed.

Reminds me of TOWN from Lego Star Wars TCS :O just in general, this feels like classic lego and that makes me happy

I find new vibrant yellow very strange color. It matches with black and some greens and that's it. Contrast with red is strangely disturbing.

this years city line looks a lot "simpler" than the years before. I imagine if they tried to design the sets more like kids would do it? If so fine, but the low amount of pieces and the simple build should be reflected in the price. the regular 10$/€ city sets (like a car) are now simpler and contain even fewer pieces. Maybe they want to make the regular sets less attractive for the adult-fans and more suited for kids? The only sets that do not like a reduction are the mars-expidition sets, but it remains to be seen.

It seems like Lego has chosen more of the new road system than the actually building. Also, by not enclosing the garage, it seems lego making cuts by not having to add more pieces to complete building or scale sets better to minifigures. Has the price of plastic gone up that piece count is important to lego?

Why is LEGO implementing this vibrant/neon like yellow? I find it annoying and would remove it and put regular yellow in its place.

I bought this for my son a while back and we both have trouble keeping the garage door on. It keeps popping off during play and it's hard to put it back together. The garage itself isn't very strong either. The truck is fun though.

I think it's an ok set. I wonder what that 1x2 technic brick is for that is on the side of the garage. The vibrant yellow on the vehicles is a but overdone imho.

14:19 Somewhat disappointing that a fire station set doesn't include any hose. No way to connect that hydrant to anything, or run a line from the truck to a guy with a nozzle.

how tall is the garage

You know what bothers me most about all the building sets. The slope pieces. Granted that you don't want the roads that end to be a drop-off but look at the size of those pieces. And you get 4 of those. Meanwhile you get another set and another set and you end up with a lot of leftover plastic when you start connecting the roads. Oh and the lack of connector pieces... to other sets. It is only 1 and a half year now but Lego should have figured out that they need to make things connectable. Especially since road plates are now part of history.

Nice doors, nice rollgate, but call me oldschool, almost no walls, no stairs and everything is rather flat. If you consider the production values and Lego revenues, it's not a good set, imo. Like most city sets today.
